Hi guys,

i know it’s an old wives tale but for those that have had a boy and a girl, which were you more sick with?

3 DC. Severe Hg with all three from practically conception (it was always my first symptom) to birth. This involved long hospital stays and three stone weight loss with each. Apart from anaemia with two DC and pre-eclampsia with DC1 they were identical. 2DS, 1DD.

Actually there is a link.

Nausea/sickness are linked to sensitivity to Hcg. Girl pregnancies tend to produce more hcg than boy pregnancies.

Sensitivity to hcg differs between women and hcg levels also fluctuate between pregnancies so it’s not a hard and fast rule but sickness is more likely in a pregnancy with a girl.

Severe hyperemesis with my two girls and my sister exact same with her three boys!!

Horrendous nausea and sickness with my dd until third trimester. I know more boy mums and they never felt sick. If they did then it was only once or twice.

Girls here and I was sick with each and every one - and not just in the morning! From what I have heard over the years, it is worse with girls.

Puked from start to finish in both pregnancies which were one of each. I don’t think there is any scientific link.

I was sick all the time with girls, friends were the same with boys.

Same. I was extremely sick the whole time with a girl. She was extremely sick with boys. I don't believe it makes any difference.
