Hi I am in the very early stages of pregnancy and just turned 40. Just looking to connect with other mums to be in their 40s

Hello! I turned 42 this month (March) and found out yesterday that we're expecting. Our DD is 2 and a half and had her when I was 39. Have you just turned 40? do you have previous children? Praying for a sticky bean for us both!

Sa11yCinnamon · 31/03/2026 22:04

Hey, I’m 41 and 4+1 with my second. Definitely a bit more nervous this time round! If it all goes well we’d have a 2.5 year age gap.

VioIetMoon · 31/03/2026 23:20

40 here and currently 7 weeks.
Im feeling so exhausted already and
Ive got a 21 month old to run around after

NewAgeDawning · 01/04/2026 09:57

@VioIetMoonthat'll be why youre so tired!

Looks like we all have previous children, @Bluemind17how about you? Is this your first or you have others?

ThunderCatsHooo · 01/04/2026 11:22

I'm 42 and pregnant with a surprise baby! I'm a bit further along more like 8 weeks but I still count it as newly pregnant, certainly still feels new to me!!

Amazing! Congratulations. Definitely newly pregnant, particularly if youre not showing yet haha how do you feel?

Mountainview8 · 01/04/2026 19:25

I'm 40 and early days at 5+5. I have a 22 month old. Not suffering many symptoms yet (and didn't with my first). Although I feel I've been forgetting words the last couple of days, which I'm putting down to pregnancy!

Sa11yCinnamon · 01/04/2026 20:06

We’ll have the same age gap @Mountainview8! And @VioIetMoonnot far off.

Matildahoney · 01/04/2026 20:24

I'm a bit further along, 12 weeks today, but I'm 43 (I'll be a month off 44 when I have baby).
I have a 27 month old already.

VioIetMoon · 01/04/2026 21:21

@Sa11yCinnamon how are you managing ?

kelbel2k8 · 01/04/2026 23:17

I don't usually show until much much further along, I kept one of my pregnancies a secret until 22 weeks!! I feel OK about it now, at first not so much, it was very very difficult for the first 3 weeks+, this was not in the master plan! This will be our 4th child (my others are 10, 8 and 5), we were very much done and very happy as a family of 5, so it's taken some getting used to the idea. I have come around to the point that I am invested now, which I was trying not to do until after I'd had a nipt at least, I'm very paranoid about my age even though I was 37 when I had my youngest so wasn't exactly young then. I sort of feel like we have rolled the dice one too many times having another!

Lucky you not showing early! I feel I look pregnant already but it must be bloating

Dragonlady3 · 02/04/2026 08:00

Hi, can I join please? I’m 43 and 6 weeks along. I have a 7yo from IVF and it’s taken many rounds and losses to get this one so feeling anxious but hopeful.

anotheranonanon · 02/04/2026 08:21

I’m not pregnant but just wanted to tell you lovely ladies I had my ds 5 years ago, unplanned, 3 months before my 43rd birthday. I had an easy pregnancy )was more tiring than my earlier
ones though), straightforward birth and a perfectly healthy baby who has grown into a much loved sibling. I can’t imagine our family without him now and feel that he was a gift 💝

We’re in a big tantrum phase so my patience is THIN! Other than that I’m just exhausted, thankfully he’s a good sleeper but I’m now up before him most days 🫠

Dragonlady3 · 02/04/2026 08:44

@anotheranonanonThat’s so lovely to hear. I think I’ve been telling myself for the last few years I’m too old as a protective thing, even though I would never think that of a friend or even stranger having a baby at this age. It’s so lovely to hear the positive experiences of others in a similar boat.

In a way yes, in a way not, I'm quite skinny so it just meant they were where my vital organs were meant to be further on, v uncomfortable! Good for hiding it from work though, I won't be telling them for quite sometime, I don't imagine I will have a bump before 16+ weeks. I was 22 weeks and my own mum hadn't even guessed last time!

Thank you for sharing your experience, its reassuring to hear that having babies in your 40s isnt as uncommon or daunting as we may be led to believe. Congratulations on your beautiful family xx

@Matildahoney I knew I recognised your username. We were in a SMEP thread together just before I conceived mine in early 2023 (Feb 23 to be precise). She's 28 months and judging by your DC's age, you got there a month later?

Yeah I've never changed my name! He was born Dec 23, but was due Jan.
Sadly we had our 12 week scan yesterday and baby stopped growing at 9 weeks.

Sa11yCinnamon · 03/04/2026 09:18

@Matildahoney I’m so sorry to hear that 🤍

NewAgeDawning · 03/04/2026 09:19

DefiantRabbit9 · 03/04/2026 09:42
