Just had a phone call from the midwife to arrange my booking appointment! Tuesday 5th may, I'll be 9 weeks 4 days. Now it feels really...

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 14/04/2026 12:49

Sorry to hear @ Babybuns26, take care of yourself ā¤ļø

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 14/04/2026 12:52

When did you self refer @PhoenixSTL? I did it on the 3rd April, pretty much as soon as I found out as I wanted to acknowledge it and believe it’s real. It says 1-2 weeks so hoping to hear by Friday, but I will only be 6 weeks then so not sure if it’s still too early.

Likely because it wasn’t your fmu @Sa11yCinnamon but can imagine the stress it’s caused you

NewAgeDawning · 14/04/2026 13:03

@PhoenixSTLthats sooner than mine!
Well done

PhoenixSTL · 14/04/2026 13:12

@Lookingtogrowthefamily I self referred on Sunday 5th April. I'm up in North Yorkshire, and it looks like 5 working days is about the norm up here.

I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't think through the appointment before just saying yes šŸ˜… not sure if my partner will be able to take the time off work to come with me.

Ah my husband has never come with me to the booking appointments. In fact theyll ask him to sit outside for part of it so im like what's the point

bluepurplegreen · 14/04/2026 13:24

The wait to the scan feels endless. I have had some brown spotting. I’ve read it isn’t necessarily a bad sign, and it hasn’t gotten worse since last night.
Was surprised to get my antenatal appointment two days after I self referred. I’ll be 9 weeks šŸ¤žšŸ».

PhoenixSTL · 14/04/2026 13:43

@NewAgeDawning was hoping my partner would be able to make it to the booking appointment, as i remember getting a lot of blood taken at my son's booking appointment and I ended up fainting. I remember to bring lots of chocolate with me these days šŸ˜…

@bluepurplegreen wow, that's very quick and efficient of your service! Hope you're feeling okay - any sign of spotting i get anxious, and have to remind myself that it happened with my son's pregnancy too

Sa11yCinnamon · 14/04/2026 13:52

My booking appointment isn't til 11+2 and I self referred pretty early. Last time I got the dates for both booking and scan straight away, still waiting for a scan date. I'm going to have to take my toddler with me to booking, hoping it will be quicker second time round as they'll have all my family history etc already?

PhoenixSTL · 14/04/2026 14:50

@Sa11yCinnamon wow, that seems so late for a booking appointment? I always thought that they aimed for 8-10 weeks for a booking appointment. Have you got a 12 week scan date already then?

rach971 · 14/04/2026 14:52

I phoned last Tuesday and was told I'd get a letter in 7-10 days with my booking appointment confirmation. The post man is a rare sight here though so I think it may take longer to reach me

I've been to the hospital today as I had a small amount of spotting last night and been having some right ovary twinges. They said my cervix looked inflamed, gave me some thrush treatment and did a HCG blood test which they said they'd phone back with the results of today... so I've just been sitting here anxiously. They've also booked me a scan for Friday morning

DevilsKitchen · 14/04/2026 14:55

Tentatively checking in! First pregnancy and my cycle dates suggest a due date of 12th December. I’ve been tracking HCG using the clear blue digital tests and some cheap ones I found on Amazon and everything is progressing so far so finger’s crossed all is well šŸ™šŸ» I’m an anxious person so I have us booked in for an early reassurance scan at 7w3d.

I’m pretty light on the symptoms so far - I have sore boobs and have been bloated/gassy/constipated and felt a bit dizzy a couple of mornings but that’s it so far!

Sa11yCinnamon · 14/04/2026 14:55

@PhoenixSTL no, no scan date. My last booking appointment was at 10 weeks so can only assume they're short-staffed/lots of babies are coming.

@rach971 hope you get your results soon!

I seem to only have a scan date and no booking appt. Scan date is already at 13 weeks so it feels late to do them both at the same time.

BellaStar2020 · 14/04/2026 16:46

I self referred on 6th April and haven’t heard anything back yet. I’m in South Wales.
feeing a little apprehensive this time round. I have a DD already but had her in the middle of covid. It was so easy to hide it from everyone then.

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 14/04/2026 16:50

Ah whereabouts in south wales @BellaStar2020? I’m in Swansea and haven’t heard anything yet. This was the first time I referred this way and didn’t even know Swansea Bay HB did it

rach971 · 14/04/2026 17:09

So I've had the HCG results. She said they were quite high at over 1000. But Google says it isn't high and that it's quite low? So now I'm confused

I am in Bridgend @Lookingtogrowthefamily. So I think we fall under Cwm Taff Morgannwg HB. Last time I did it all through the GP xx

NewAgeDawning · 14/04/2026 17:56

@rach971are they bringing you in for a repeat hcg? Usually one on its own isnt v useful. Everyone's hcg levels are different, the important thing is theyre going up at the correct rate (some say double or by a third every 48/72 hours) what gestation are you now?

rach971 · 14/04/2026 17:56

@NewAgeDawning No, just my scan on Friday

rach971 · 14/04/2026 17:57

@NewAgeDawning I'm 6+3 by my LMP

Ncl31 · 14/04/2026 20:40

@NewAgeDawning I started acupuncture at the beginning of this cycle. I honestly believe it helped us get pregnant. She has recommended to continue once per week until 12 weeks so I’m sticking with that. Really hoping it’s helping things grow nicely in there.

got our early scan this Thursday followed by acupuncture in the afternoon

I’ve gone down the google rabbit hole of researching pregnancy… šŸ˜‚

My conclusions are that I should start taking some prenatal vitamins. I’m thinking either Wild Nutrition or Pregnacare Max, and just wondered what everyone else was taking?

I’m also wondering if I should start using bio oil to help with stretching marks down the line? Too early or a great idea to start now?

SunshineRose12 · 14/04/2026 20:46

@GladDenimGoose really good to see you on this thread!

NewAgeDawning · 14/04/2026 20:51

@Ncl31yes! I agree, im glad youre continuing. I had my first session this afternoon since my bfp. My lady was so happy and it was nice to talk to someone about being pregnant as weve not told anyone at all

@SunshineRose12i have taken wild nutrition before, pre and antenatally and think theyre good. Ive switched to ape nutrition now. I think its great youre nourishing your skin, it always makes me feel a million dollars when my skin is glowing (sad I know but I dont wear make up)
