Hi there, I’m asking for those who were actually tracking ovulation and able to have sex during fertile period - how many cycles did it take for you to fall pregnant even doing everything right? Just curious! Thank you :)

41, but found out I was pregnant on my 42nd birthday. 1st try.
I do seem to come from a family of very fertile women though.

BernardButlersBra · 29/03/2026 18:48

Nearly 5 years. Only got pregnant after 3 rounds of IVF. We started trying at 35 and 38

BernardButlersBra · 29/03/2026 18:58

Before IVF we did pretty much everything e.g. tracking, healthy eating / no alcohol, sperm meets egg plan, acupuncture, it starts with the egg, Clomid etc. I was somewhat unhappy about claims l maybe didn’t want it enough (l did!) and l needed to be patient (from someone who thought she had fertility issues after taking 6 months to conceive her 2nd 🙄 child)

First pregnancy - 6 months of tracking bbt and lh tests

This time - 6 months of not trying but not preventing; and then another 3 months of tracking

Fashionlover123 · 29/03/2026 21:06

3 cycles, 2 cycles tracking ovulation.

littlemissalwaystired · 29/03/2026 21:08

3 months but only really the first of properly “trying”. The first two were half assed “if it happens it happens” but no real effort was made. 28 at the time.

seasidemum83 · 29/03/2026 22:48

13 cycles - beautiful ds
2cycles - loss
3 years - not timing to cycles by end. Got bad fertility results. Told ivf only chance. Miracle baby conceived the month before we started ivf 🙈
The timing was same month a very very beloved family member died, I think she pulled some strings to send us a miracle

Sa11yCinnamon · 30/03/2026 18:03

Second cycle, but I think the first was messed up by stopping breastfeeding so potentially the first viable cycle. Feel very lucky.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 30/03/2026 18:06

One cycle both times. I didn't track anything because that was really a thing then that I'm aware of.

NewAgeDawning · 30/03/2026 22:05

38 - 9 cycles
40- 2 cycles
42 - 7 cycles

I have some anovulatory cycles due to suspected PCOS. First month of trying, no ovulation, but we tried a few times anyway with Preseed in case we missed it with tracking. No BFP.

Next cycle, sex once on ovulation day, no Preseed, pregnant straight away with my PFB. Felt implantation, too. A boy as per the Shettles method.

I had (privately) been tracking cycles for a few months prior to trying, with such hit or miss ovulation, and had very little hope it would happen for us. I had every single fertility app on my phone. I found Fertility Friend to be the most helpful, as the graphs you can plot showed that sometimes if I didn’t ovulate when expected, my body would try again later in the same cycle. Really late, just before my next period and nothing like what the textbooks say! Bizarre and something I never would have realised without tracking my temperature.

Mystifying stuff, conception!

Baby dust to you ✨

BabyPerera · 03/04/2026 22:10

I have two children (14&11) and I'm now pregnant with my third at 37. I had my implant taken out in December 2025 and found out I was pregnant March 2026. So I got pregnant in my fourth cycle. I was very fortunate my periods returned to normal straight away! Good luck to anyone trying ❤️

WanderlustMom · 03/04/2026 22:18

First month every time I’ve been pregnant (5+ times) I fall pregnant very easily, staying pregnant is unfortunately a different matter for me :(

That’s so interesting! For your second, did you end up having a girl? I heard the shettles method apparently makes you conceive a girl (getting pregnant from sex 4 days before ovulation)

Hi OP, just to update you as you asked if this one was a girl and we've just found she is :) so the shettles method worked in our case although could be be luck!

feelingsickpreggo · 01/05/2026 14:22

Age 31 and fell pregnant on the second cycle

3lele · 01/05/2026 14:32

I was tracking my ovulation. With my daughter, I got pregnant 2nd time and with my current pregnancy, it happened first time. Got very lucky

DramaAlpaca · 01/05/2026 14:39

1st child - 11 cycles
2nd child - literally first time of trying
3rd child - 4 cycles
All boys, all conceived around day of ovulation but wasn't exactly tracking as it wasn't possible back then.

8 cycles. That said I put that down to the fact that my boss was a raging misogynist and I hated my job because as soon as I quit I conceived.

Howeverfar · 04/05/2026 10:01

Age 35 1 cycle, I gave up alcohol and was taking preconception vitamins for 3 months before trying.

Hoping we'll be able to have a second, I'm aware we are late starters.
