Hi there, I’m asking for those who were actually tracking ovulation and able to have sex during fertile period - how many cycles did it take for you to fall pregnant even doing everything right? Just curious! Thank you :)

I fell pregnant at 34 after tracking my cycles & doing ovulation kits each month for 1 year.
I stopped tracking everything & wanted to take a break as I was getting disheartened.
We booked a big holiday to America to take our minds off it, I tested positive that same month.
Ds is now 2.5yrs

Radiostar0 · 18/03/2026 14:09

I’d say we were extremely lucky and also unlucky at the same time:

1st pregnancy pregnant first month with twins! Lost them both, completely heartbreaking experience.

2nd pregnancy pregnant 2 months

3rd pregnancy pregnant 2 months

Most of my friends were pregnant around the 4-8 month mark.

Hoplittlesbunnieshophophop · 18/03/2026 21:29

1st cycle, 4th cycle and 1st cycle between ages 28-34

We have been extremely lucky ❤️

Krakinou · 19/03/2026 07:32

1st pregnancy after 8 years TTC, eventually conceived on 2nd round of IVF. Age 34.
This time, natural unplanned pregnancy, 3 years after DDs birth. Age 38.
No logic to it 🤷🏻‍♀️

feelingsuperlucky · 19/03/2026 11:26

4 years and 2 rounds of IVF x

Mrsblobby88 · 19/03/2026 15:13

4.5 years. It was one hell of a battle

Plumchumm · 19/03/2026 16:25

So sorry to those who have been trying for a long time and experienced losses. Wow it just shows that each journey can look so different and it's such a unique experience. I appreciate everyone sharing it has helped a lot x

Started trying aged 20 , young yes but we were in a committed longterm relationship and we both really wanted to start a family young but it didnt happen for us.
Not one pregnancy during that time
Did ivf and had our first baby at 38.
We tried immediately after baby was born for #2 .. no luck
When he turned 1 we did ivf again.. fell pregnant naturally during cycle so transfer had to be cancelled.i sadly miscarried. Baby would have been born next month.
After that ive fell pregnant every cycle but lost all the pregnancies. 6 pregnancies and only our one living child. Im now pregnant this cycle again but its very early days at 5 weeks. Im now 40

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 19/03/2026 17:56

First try! (true)

Roundofapause · 19/03/2026 18:37

Tracked every time. 4 out of 5 times I concieved first cycle (3 ended in losses). The other time took 3 attempts. Interestingly, this was the only time I was still breastfeeding so I think this may have contributed. Before that 3rd attempt I had stopped breastfeeding completely.

That’s so interesting! For your second, did you end up having a girl? I heard the shettles method apparently makes you conceive a girl (getting pregnant from sex 4 days before ovulation)

Worked for me! We unintentionally tried this. With my son, we did it everyday over fertile period. With my daughter, we were going to have a break after suffering a miscarriage. We thought 4 days prior to ovulation would be safe. We were very happy it wasn't though and to be getting one of each!

Abs8 · 19/03/2026 20:01

aged 28 - 3 cycles
aged 33 - 8 cycles

tracking ovulation both times

Objectiontime · 19/03/2026 22:25

Surprise - missed miscarriage at 12 weeks.
Second - 4 months - chemical
Third - 5 months - chemical
Fourth 7 months - success (afterlikely reason for losses found)

Bebeandgang · 19/03/2026 22:36

First cycle both times, first at 34 and second at 36. I hadn't used hormonal contraceptives for years before TTC and I do wonder if that played a part.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 19/03/2026 22:43

First child I was 24 and tried for two months. Second child I was 27 and tried for one month. I tracked ovulation both times but I think I may have done a slightly better job of tracking it while trying for baby number 2 as I had done it before and knew what I was doing, which may be why I got pregnant sooner.

FernaFrey · 19/03/2026 23:03

First child (age 32): 9 months until we realised we needed IVF. Add on an extra 8 months of ivf plus trying in between rounds = 17 months.

Second child (age 35): 4 months naturally!

BelleEpoque27 · 19/03/2026 23:08

Age 37 - four cycles

Congratulations! It can be so, so, random. I’ve also been on both ends of the spectrum (never did IVF, but spent what felt like eons TTC).

DD#1 - 10 cycles over 16 months, age 32.
DD#2 - 12 (normal length!) cycles, age 35
Pregnancy 3 - unplanned after being a bit flaky taking the pill (ended a few days after I found out, 5 weeks-ish), age 39
Pregnancy 4, over 40 cycles, almost 3 years after the previous one - and I miscarried at 6 weeks, 3 years to the very day of the last one. Age 42
DD#3 - 3(!!!) cycles, age 42. My now 7 week old is snoozing on me as I type!

Catlady1991 · 20/03/2026 00:04

19 months, currently 23 weeks with a baby boy 💙

DarkForces · 20/03/2026 00:13

I started trying at age 29, 2 miscarriages, an ectopic pregnancy with emergency surgery and a dye and scrape later had dd at 33. Never tried again as I couldn't face it. She healed me after the heartbreak and I just wanted to enjoy her. She's 14 now.

CirceSong24 · 20/03/2026 12:14

Age 34- 2 cycles
Age 38- 5 cycles, but this ended up being a cesarean scar ectopic, requiring a lot of aftercare and monitoring
Age 39- 4 cycles, currently 28 weeks

It turns out I seem to only get pregnant in September!

hntr · 28/03/2026 23:39

Started after wedding at 27 years old (2016), waited for 4 years before IVF referral at 31 years old (2020). Couldn’t start first IVF cycle until 35 years old due to BMI (2024).

First IVF cycle- unsuccessful at 35 years old (2024/5)
Second IVF cycle- successful at 36 years old (2026)

so in total, almost 10 years 🤯

Northcoastmama · 29/03/2026 18:42

@Lollypop0101 was your second a girl?
