Am bloody knackered - trying to think of ways to get help - or should I just tough it out?

I am coming up to 38 weeks pg and suddenly feel crashingly tired all the time
just taking ds to nursery leaves me feeling like I want a lie down
I have managed to arrange for some kind of help every day this week (someone to have ds for a couple of hours) but am still feeling daunted by thought of getting through the week
poor dp has been great help and taken over most of cleaning etc, but I am struggling to do ANYTHING
eg breakfast dishes still in sink atm
not much food in house
I can't manage shopping I don't think

anyway what I really feel I need is to just have a couple of days doing NOTHING at all and then I might be able to rally a little
I don't normally feel like this, I like to be doing things and don't like asking for help all the time so I am wondering if I should actually trust my instinct
dp could take time off work but we would obviously miss out on this time when the baby is born, also it is wrong time right now for him to take time off as he is trying to meet targets

oh dear
I am getting some paid help twice this week and I think that is all we can really afford

shall I just shut up whinging and do my best to get on with things or shall I carry on trying to find a way to get more help? I don't know what to do

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2008 20:22

yes that's it
I have made it such a goal to stay healthy and fit during this pg and it has just been a shambles
have put on exactly same (large) amount of weight as I did with ds, and pelvic pain means I have hardly been able to exercise at all
I still managed to go to gym and do upper body stuff but the last month only on average once a week
am really disappointed and find it hard to accept all these limitations

robino I have one easy 5 year old! you've got a 17 mo OMG I think you have it tougher, honestly

sweetkitty going to bed early is hard when you feel like you are getting a break at last
I am so bored of lying down and being in bed
I hate my bedroom

I know Franny it's so shit isn't it
And it's so unfair: you really don't WANT to be a big heffa wheezing up the stairs - I SWORE it wouldn't happen again - but your body just TAKES OVER and before you know it you are hurtling over the waterfall of fatness in a barrel of lard

Babies are like alien parasites from Dr Who

morningpaper · 18/06/2008 20:25

there will be a lovely baby here SOOO soon Franny

having lovely milk from lovely mummy

ahhhhh lovely hormones everywhere

it's SO much easier

DumbledoresGirl · 18/06/2008 20:26

Aww this is such a normal way to feel! When I see heavily pregnant women, they look like serene symbols of fecundity to me. When I looked at myself in the same state, I looked like a beached and especially over-bloated whale.

DumbledoresGirl · 18/06/2008 20:27

LOL MP.

Seriously F&Z, do you know the sex of the baby yet? Bought any nice new babygros? Focus on the positive!

morningpaper · 18/06/2008 20:30

sleepless nights were fine compared to getting up to pee every 40 minutes and having to have assistance to turn over in bed

Having to HAUL my fat self over in bed by heaving on the headboard

AWFUL

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2008 20:31

"your body just TAKES OVER and before you know it you are hurtling over the waterfall of fatness in a barrel of lard"

yyy that is it LOL

DG it's going to be a lovely surprise
have all ds's cute clothes left over ready for it
being summer baby it will only need a nappy I expect but I have them ready and folded

I'm not even that big everyone keeps saying I'm so neat for 37 weeks and looking at me like I have my dates mixed up. I am fed up of being in this house not going out because I cannot walk.

DumbledoresGirl · 18/06/2008 20:45

Gosh yes you are big but you are also slim and you seem to be sticking out frontways rather than sideways iyswim so that would make you look bigger.

It looks like ds1 is getting ready to deliver the baby though with that surgeon's outfit.

sweetkitty · 18/06/2008 20:45

That doesn't look that big to me Franny, all bump.

My "neat" bump not that far off that, I've put on nearly 2 stone and it feels like 10.

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2008 20:47

LOL yes he thinks he is going to cut the cord etc

I look slim from the side, from the front am just

well words fail me

have put on 3 stone again

wheezing up the stairs, oh yes, MP has it

OP posts:
morningpaper · 18/06/2008 20:57

oh Franny it hardly shows at all

robino · 18/06/2008 21:08

Wow FandZ! what a bump - really should get some pics of mine cos I have no idea how it compares really, it's usually covered up by limpet DD! The rest of you looks amazingly unpregnant though.

Earlier in the thread someone was discussing whether Internet shopping was just too lazy (I don't think it is at all, I hate supermarkets) - well, I've finally done mine. It took me 4 days to complete the order! I don't care what anyone says, that really is lazy...

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2008 11:47

How are you doing today F&Z?

I just looked at your pics and your bump is lush. I have bump envy, I have big long bumps that feel like they grow from right under my boobs, right down to my fanjo. I dream of a bump like yours, to me that is a text book bump!

Oh and I see you live nearish me, I now live in west Suffolk, but I grew up on the Essex/Suffolk border.

As the sun is shining, can you get ds to run madly around the garden while you sit/slump on a sun lounger?

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2008 16:02

well am now on day 3 of having a daytime nap and although woke up feeling worse than ever and struggled to get out and about this morning, after having 2 hours in bed I really do feel improved and managed to do some cooking and some craft with ds

hope everyone is ok, I think I shall start a "pregnany women having a whinge" thread as it seems a bit mean to keep this one all to myself

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2008 17:05

Good to hear you're feeling a bit perkier.

A whinging in pregnancy thread would get so big it would crash the site

knockedup · 19/06/2008 17:36

Oh God I am exactly the same. I'm 39 weeks and am really really struggling now. Apparantly I'm in pre-labour now so it could be anytime, unfortunately I was told that a week ago and all it means is no baby but loads more aches and pains.

DD (2.5) only at nursery 2hrs a day, 3 days a week so it's nothing - no family around, can't afford help or a cleaner, DH has his own business so is not here for me and not at weekends either

Well - DD has never watched so much TV - her little eyes are square. Actually it used to be a bit of a pain to get her to play by herself sometimes, but now she's become quite good as I often have to retire to bed and just lay there comatose. Or I get her to read books to me in the bed.

So I don't clean at all - there's washing in my bedroom that should have been hung up last week and still isn't. It's actually scattered all over the floor now and I can't be bothered to work out what's clean and what isn't. I managed to clean the kitchen today - there's no food in the house so will have to do a tescos order.

I had low iron at my 30 week check. I was supposed to go and get another blood test done on Monday so that if I am low iron in labour they can be on hand with blood to transfuse me as haemorraging more likely didn't realise how serious low iron in labour can be......and so have I bothered going to the hospital to get my bloods done?? No, I just couldn't face the journey right now in this heat with DD to go and do that and get home again.

I'm totally EXHAUSTED and also have a huge bump. Definitely No more babies for me!

knockedup · 19/06/2008 18:03

And now have just fallen over my back step as too fat to lift my legs properly.

Was laying there too fat to move sobbing quietly and now have sore bruised knee

Life is laughing at me

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2008 20:20

oh knockedup
are you all right?
have you taken anything for the low iron?
I am so sorry, your story reminds me I have been very lucky, and I wish you had more help

OP posts:
knockedup · 19/06/2008 21:15

Oh thanks Franny - I'm fine really - just wanted to join in the big moan about pregnancy because it's horrible for everyone at this stage - support or no support!

I'm taking iron supplements - I'm sure it'll be fine.

And I'll have some support from family when babies here. It's just these last weeks that have really taken their toll.

I don't remember what it was like to have energy

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2008 15:17

I really really really feel better after 4 days on the Spatone

highly recommend anyone feeling shit to try it

That's good news FandZ! After my lie-in-bed-athon on Wed I'm feeling consideraby better too..
