@MintOwl I was pleasantly surprised that there were some that at least appeared to be in their 30s in our group… I do hope they do a baby first aid one for us too, I would probably start crying at the seriousness of it though!

Thanks everyone, back home and taking it even easier than I was. My wee mum carried my shopping for me for friday night tea hehehe.

@dubkitten yeah just week by week, I mean that’s how I’ve been living/monitored since 16 weeks so it’s nice to have reached a much safer albeit not safe 27 (today!)

@pastelheart well still no plaster on the wall but we have secured all the workers for each of the bits and now just have to jigsaw puzzle their time together in the right order. Can’t wait to not have strange men in the house with me!!

i lovvved roller coaster tycoon (was a pc game for me as a teen) I think they’re all the same-ish thing. It says it’s available on Xbox One if you have that. I learned to play my partners ps5 with the most scary zombie game ever during lockdown (the last of us). I can so relate with being bad at the controls haha! Also would throw the controller away when the fear became overwhelming. Tried playing alien but I just hid in a cupboard the whole time. Management games are far more appropriate for me right now!

Great to hear you're back home. I also LOVED Rollercoaster Tycoon as a teenager. Have fond memories of making everyone sick and then having to clean it all up, and hiking the price of umbrellas whenever it rained.

pastelheart · 29/03/2026 07:44

@dubkitten it’s the best feeling isn’t it! But omg can’t believe she’s almost out of her 3m clothes! My son was 8lb4 when born and I have a sneaky feeling this baby is going to be bigger so I have hardly any first size, it’s all 1m and 3m but now I’m thinking maybe I should have just gone straight in at the 3-6 months 😂😂😂 glad she’s a good baby and sleeping so well! How did the sleepover go?

@MintOwlhello! Welcome to insomnia club where delirium and tears are being served up for breakfast 🥞 ah my manager was poorly Friday so it’s moved to Monday now, I shall update. Also don’t start your mat leave on the 1st… the 4th of May is a bank holiday so start it from the 5th so you get a few extra days before you go back 😉😉😉

@Nosejug glad you are back home, how are you feeling? Organising work men is so annoying. My partner organised someone to come to the house yesterday to fix some snagging (we renovated our house a couple of years ago and it was never perfect so wanted a few things done) and he left me in charge of pointing out all the cracks in the plaster but I missed the two biggest ones 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 so luckily I have organised my brother-in-law to come and sort next week as my partner was not a happy bunny lol

I was a sims and zoo tycoon girly! My son does play roller coaster tycoon though, yeah I just can’t get my head around the controls and then it takes the fun out of it!! xx

@MintOwl or dropping them in the ponds occasionally on purpose 🫣

@pastelheart yess! That’s exactly part of the issue is the responsibility for making all the decisions/overseeing stuff that is costing all the savings you have! I don’t need that kind of pressure right now haha. But equally my partner is flat out at work (two 6 day weeks in a row :’( and doing extra at home to take up my enforced slack)

and the sims o boy. I had to ban myself from it in my 20s as I found it so addictive and was like… I’ll never be in my 20s again. Now would be the perfect time haha, as I’m resting so much!

hope some of you are getting better weather than this miserableness.

AmberRose26 · 29/03/2026 08:25

@Nosejug glad to hear you are back out of hospital and everything’s setttled for you .. congrats for 27 weeks !! That’s amazing ✨💛 I played the last of us on my daughters PS .. I really liked that game .. there was the series out not long ago on tv not sure if you seen it, was really good, am not much of a horror film person but I like zombie films for sone reason 😅

@pastelheart hopefully you get your work completed soon in your house, you’ll be wanted it all finished before baby arrives so that one less thing to think about I guess.

sorry some of you guys aren’t sleeping, I have started getting the sore hips someone else was saying about, and my pelvis bone is hurting when I walk, I mentioned to the midwife when I seen her on Thursday and she said she can post out a tubby grip bump support thing for me to try .. does anyone else have this or have tried the support bands for pelvic griddle pain ? It’s the two bones that are right deep in my bum cheeks if that makes sense .. they hurt if I move my legs too much or even sometimes just ‘come away’ when I put weight on my leg and I nearly fall over it’s sore 😵‍💫 anyways still greatful to be pregnant and don’t want to moan , it won’t last forever and so greatful to be where I am ✨💛🙏🤞🏽, midwife listened in with Doppler and heartbeat all good, all checks were fine and bump measured 26cm so that’s just above the 50th percentile and below the 90th she said so all good there ! Am 26+2 today

My kicks are so strong now and can see my tummy warping /moving from the outside .. caught a few movements on video 🤩😍.. my addiction at the minute is a decaf mocha 😋 she gets pretty active after (prop the sugar in the hot choc) I try only have one two /3 times a weeks but am just loving it and so does she 😅… anyone else got major cravings ?

Nosejug · 29/03/2026 08:35

@AmberRose26 decaf mocha for me too!!! My big treat! Same with trying to limit it…. And yes I loved the last of us series, I thought it was so well cast. I love all the folks here into games! Maybe the same type of brain that likes chat forums hehe.

sorry to hear about your pain :( my only complaint is extremely sore toes?!

pastelheart · 29/03/2026 08:45

@Nosejug sore toes 😂😂😂😂😂 ahahahaha that’s so funny! Yep I don’t like the pressure either, I have enough pressure at work… leave me alone outside of work. My partner has also started saying he wants to move out of the city and back where he is from as will be better for the baby, which I do agree with but politely I’m 30 weeks pregnant and don’t need this right now. I moved to be here with you and now you want to move again and honestly I just want a nap.

@AmberRose26i am pretty sure I have PGP and my ribs are still hurting in the evenings (like a burning and stretching pain) my partners physio has said I can go and see her next week and she will teach me how to wrap my bump and ribs to help so I will pass this on (hopefully with a pic lol) xx

OP posts:
MintOwl · 29/03/2026 09:50

@pastelheart oh yes I just realised that the other day re the bank holiday but need to make sure I articulate this to work!

@AmberRose26 I bought a serola belt on vinted after having physio for my back pain at their recommendation. In the end they said mine wasn’t PGP as the pain was all located at my lower back whenever I moved, maybe similar to yours? She said it was my SI joint and gave me various exercises, most of which involve arching and then flattening my back eg against a wall (ideally doing pelvic floor exercises at same time)

pain lasted for a couple of weeks and then has eased up a lot recently, not 100% sure if the belt has made a difference as I didn’t get it immediately and was starting to feel a bit better before that. Good luck! I found it really painful walking anywhere so it was such a relief when it got better

MintOwl · 29/03/2026 09:58

Also loved The Last of Us series 1 (particularly the amazing self contained episode 3) but haven’t quite got round to S2 yet or ever played the game. Currently I’m watching the series Shrinking whenever I’m awake in the middle of the night

AmberRose26 · 30/03/2026 08:25

@Nosejug seemily our feet can grow in pregnancy and it’s a common pregnancy symptom? Maybes that’s why you have sore toes as they have got a big bigger in your shoes ?? Or maybes the bones in your feet /toes are tender ? I am finding my knuckles really sore after I was cleaning my windows the other day .. it’s like a really sore bone pain in my knuckles from wiping either the cloth. All our tendons are looser due to relaxin the hormone to loosen the joints so could be that ?

@MintOwl @pastelheart thanks for tips .. I will defo try some exercises I think , I was doing yoga in 1st trimester but I stopped as was so tired after work and didn’t have the energy to do anything apart from a wee walk now and then .. but I do feel I need to pick it up again .. I’ll just youtube some pgp exercises and see what comes up thanks !

oh yeh am sure moving is not top of your list of things to do right now .. will be exciting though house hunting when you are ready to do so, I loved viewing houses before we moved and looking on the website rightmove etc to see what was on the market .. I still look now and then just to see what’s about 😅 not that we are planning on moving anytime soon, I just like looking 😂

zirafica · 30/03/2026 14:22

Hi ladies!! Getting ready for our 20 week scan on Thursday, conscious it’s supposed to be our last one??? So just wanted to check with you all further down the line, how many scans (if any) have you had post the anatomy scan? Were these triggered by a concern or did the midwife schedule them in? I just can’t believe this is supposed to be the last one and then it’s giving birth!!! Hoping us as high risk ivf group we at least get a couple more to be safe? Thank you!!

magpie234 · 30/03/2026 15:18

@zirafica I have been having regular growth scans - first one was at 28 weeks. They just put me in for them on account of having done IVF (never asked about the reasons for doing IVF though which for us was due to male factor). I am also 36 so maybe there was a 35+ element too. Not sure.

I would say there are pros and cons… obv extra monitoring is good if there is a medical reason for it and if it means they find something they can treat sooner rather than later. But I also had one scan recently that showed reduced growth velocity which I found worrying. She was thankfully back on track two weeks later and it was discounted as a blip measurement. So I could happily never have known about that! Lots more hanging about in hospitals too!

I am in full nesting mode here as well as trying to take things easy. Got my c-section scheduled for 39+5 on 29 April so am hoping baby girl stays nice and cosy until then! Glad to see everyone else is doing well and @Nosejug that you are back home.

AmberRose26 · 30/03/2026 16:20

@zirafica I got an internal scan at 22 weeks after my 20 week, this was the check the cervix was closed etc as I had a few biopsies of the cervix for HPV in the past, which all was fine with cervix was closed so don’t need any more, my next scan is 33 weeks then again at 38 weeks, these are extra growth scans I am getting due to it being ivf, I think I am also 43 so not sure if it’s my age also 🤷🏼‍♀️ also with my 1st pregnancy I didn’t have alot of fluid so I think they just wana check that also.

Best of luck for your scan 💛

SarahAndQuack · 30/03/2026 19:03

@zirafica I've got regular growth scans every two weeks from the end of this month (I'm 28 weeks; will be 32-ish I guess). I had an extra one after 20 weeks when the midwife measured my fundal height as being very low, but it was fine.

My June mums group seems to have lots of people who've ended up with extra scans for reassurance between 20 weeks and now - I think they are more and more willing to do them, which is a good thing in my book.

I can't quite believe we're all getting so far along! It's great, isn't it?! I am really enjoying feeling the baby move. I've had an absolute emotional crash at the start of the third trimester, though, which apparently is a thing. Do not recommend!

pastelheart · 30/03/2026 20:34

@ziraficai just had the standard 12 and 20 week scan, nothing else scheduled. I am midwife led though, will only have extra if anything comes up

sooooo… had a chat with my manager today all fine (I say fine, she understood and there is nothing she can do but she would much prefer me to not go on maternity leave at all) I know have a lot of work to get done before I finish so that’s not amazing but here we are. Day was going well until it wasn’t, I suddenly got sharp, intense pains on my bump coming in waves and lasted about 30 mins. I honestly thought I had gone into labour, they were so bad I felt sick and couldn’t breath. So we went to triage and I had pain relief, they monitored baby and he was fine (not sitting still like normal… the midwives were shocked at the 30+ movements in 20 mins and I was like no this is normal for him) but I do have a bladder infection and potential kidney infection so have antibiotics. Back home now and just feel a bit dead tbh, but think this could explain why I had been so exhausted. It was picked up by my midwife 3 weeks ago but other than keep making me drop my urine in they didn’t actually do anything which is frustrating 🙄 xx

SarahAndQuack · 30/03/2026 20:45

Ouch! Oh, @pastelheart, that sounds painful! But YY, definitely good to know that there's a good reason why you're so tired, and the midwives can tell you quite clearly that he is putting you through it! (You'll have to remind him of this later ... Grin).

zirafica · 30/03/2026 22:10

thank you all so much for your responses! I’m also IVF, high risk, consultant and midwife care, and 39 and had bad smear tests/colposcopies in the past so judging by your experiences will probably get some extra scans. Thank you again ♥️

It's strange how different trusts are, isn't it?!

I would push for them if they are not offering, and you would like them.

zirafica · 31/03/2026 11:17

@SarahAndQuackit really is, it’s like they’re not running off of any common scientific knowledge, just their own guts, which is honestly so scary to me. I’ll definitely ask for additional scans.
I also intend to travel further along in my pregnancy - when I asked 2 midwives in my hospital, they said no problem up to 37 weeks. Irish friend was supposed to join us for it, her midwife in Dublin said absolutely no travel post 30 weeks. Makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong now.
the lack of consistency in female care is genuinely so shocking!!!!

Sara237 · 31/03/2026 21:37

@pastelheart Sorry to hear you're so wiped out can't believe they picked up the infections and did nothing. Good you've finally got some treatment and hope you feel better soon. 30 moves in 20 mins though, what a raver!
@zirafica I didn't realise that after the 20 wk one that's it until the birth...I have a few booked in but guess it's my age. I guess if they're happy with growth and your vitals then they keep it simple. Does seem a long time to go though. The rules re travel do also seem quite random...the no travel after 30 weeks I've not heard, but I guess it's just a guidance as you say from one area.

Good to hear how everyone is getting on. I was in hospital a couple of nights last week as had reduced movement but all was fine. Got an extra scan. Was told baby is 90th percentile. I feel enormous and struggle to sit comfortably though bed is ok.

@SarahAndQuack It's such an emotional time, I hope you are ok. We are so at the mercy of our bodies right now and the body affects the mind so much plus vice versa I feel. I cried this eve because I could not get comfy to read to my son so he gave me his teddy to help...which of course made me cry more! Ah, the joys.

Hey ladies just popping in your new thread as to send an update. Baby girl was born on the 2nd of march after severe pre eclampsia was picked up at a routine growth scan due to being an ivf pregnancy. She had iugr and my blood pressure was seizure/stroke levels apparently. She was born 1lb 12 and has had a hellish journey. On day 2 of life she got blue lighted to alder hey for stomach surgery for an accidental stomach perforation. She has since been recovering and now seems to be doing ok, a few typical premmie issues being monitored. I never believed this would ever happen to me. If I can give any advice it would be to buy a blood pressure monitor for £15 off Amazon the nhs approved ones and keep an eye on yourselves, obviously appointments are more important but honestly I was told she would probably not have survived had it not been picked up when it did. I had been in just over a week before and had normal blood pressure and no proteins in my wee. It all happened so fast I got sent to hospital and had an emergency c section a couple of hours later. Baby girl is

Oh @Backtotheicsi that sounds so scary! Congratulations on your little warrior princess 💕

How are you doing?

MintOwl · 01/04/2026 08:02

Oh @Backtotheicsi so sorry to hear you’ve had such a scary time. Very pleased to hear she’s doing better now and thank you for sharing your story and advice. Scary to hear how quickly things changed for you. Sending lots of hugs and all the best for the next few weeks. I hope you’re doing ok yourself too and will be thinking of you both. I’ve been checking my BP at home periodically but will step up how frequently I do it.

Sara237 · 01/04/2026 08:07

@Backtotheicsi So sorry to hear what you've all been through sounds so scary. Glad she is doing ok now. Thank goodness they caught your BP when they did...sending all good wishes for her to keep improving and you to have a lot less stress. Thanks for the info on checking BP too.

SarahAndQuack · 01/04/2026 08:10

Lots of love @Backtotheicsi. I'm so glad she's doing ok now, and so sorry you both had such a frightening time. Hope now you are being very carefully looked after and spoilt.
