I've been struggling a bit physically and emotionally last few weeks. Have had a constant chest infection and pulled rib muscles which has been excruciating every time I cough, sneeze or basically breathe the wrong way! On top of this, my son is being bullied at school and was punched and spat at in the face yesterday. The school's response is weak to say the least. Apparently said child was having a bad day and my using the word 'assault' is too strong. The stress of this is making me feel sick and even more sleep deprived although my husband pointed out today that I'm considerably more upset than my son is. We're seriously considering pulling him out of the school as behaviour is so poor ATM but there's no where better in the vicinity and it feels a lot of additional stress. Oh for the baby stage where we could protect them from this shit!

Oh, that's awful! No, you absolutely shouldn't let them minimise this. Being spat at is absolutely disgusting. Assuming it was a child his age, 'having a bad day' does not excuse it.

AmberRose26 · 29/04/2026 23:27

@CloudyIvy55 massive congratulations on the birth of your son !! 💙amazing news hope you are recovering well

@magpie234 best of luck for everything ! Keep us posted !

SarahAndQuack · 30/04/2026 10:31

Thanks @AmberRose26! Pity we can't have a cuppa together in the sun - you need one too! Sorry to hear the sickness is back. That feels very unfair!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

@magpie234 you're in my thoughts!

Hi lovely gang. Reporting the happy news that baby Isabel (Izzy) was born yesterday afternoon and is doing great (currently crap at breastfeeding but hopefully we will get there…!). I had a super positive planned c-section experience and the first cry was just magical. In a lot of pain now but taking things slowly and she is oh so worth it! Thanks for all the support 😊

MintOwl · 30/04/2026 17:58

Wonderful news, congratulations and well done @magpie234 ! Wishing you all the best for the next few weeks, your recovery and feeding.. I had my first go at colostrum harvesting the other day and nothing seemed close to happening! Great to hear the c section was such a positive experience, pain notwithstanding ❤️

dubkitten · 30/04/2026 19:23

If you have t already then ask your doctor to prescribe Omeprazole for the heartburn - it’s a game changer!

Has anyone claimed their ‘free gift’ on Amazon baby wish list items ? I have bought a few things and about to buy some more from my baby wish list I created but when I add the free gift (it says add to basket and the reduction should be taken off at payment) I add to basket but in order summery I am still being charged the full price for the gift.. I am trying to add the baby bottles as my free gift which are in the free gift section ? anyone done this that can help at all ? 🤔Thanks

Nosejug · 01/05/2026 21:41

@AmberRose26 this isn’t a particularly helpful reply maybe, butttt if you can get a message to Amazon customer service (live chat thing) they’re actually really good and swift to fix things. But hopefully someone will have a more direct fix!

AmberRose26 · 01/05/2026 21:50

@Nosejug thank you for the reply .. I did try going onto the customer service bit but couldn’t find a bit to contact them .. it was stressing me out 😅 so I gave up lol I’ll maybes try tomorrow again .. thanks though .. hope you are well ? Xx

pastelheart · 02/05/2026 08:53

@magpie234 congratulations! Wonderful news and I’m so glad everything went well.

are you still in hospital? If you are ask for support from a lactation consultant for breastfeeding, it will really help. I was in for 5 days when I had my son (over Christmas so was really quiet) and I had one on one support for feeding and it 100000% really helped. If you are already home ask your midwife at your home appt for support

if you don’t get anywhere with midwife, have a look for board certified (I can’t remember the letters they add to their names) lactation consultant in your area

it will get easier though but having that support will really help xx

What cot mattress is the best to buy if anyone doesn’t mind sharing what they bought ? Just looking at different mattresses to buy .. would really like one with natural fibres.. just not sure, there are so many out there? Any tips from anyone ? Thanks

Sara237 · 02/05/2026 22:16

@magpie234 Congratulations and glad you had such a positive experience. Hope your recovery is swift and breathing feeding gets easier. Well done!

CloudyIvy55 · 06/05/2026 00:14

Hows everyone and their little ones getting on?

I still cant believe my baby is here and I'm finally a Mum! After three nights in hospital with an emergency c section, two nights at home and then another overnight in hospital as he had jaundice....its safe to say im exhausted! Nights are so tough, he just wont settle in his crib for more than 15 minutes and is wanting to be constantly attached to my boob. Even so...I just look at him, think about what it took to get him and I'm so in love 🥰

Hope all you pregnant ladies are also getting on Ok!

Sara237 · 06/05/2026 07:48

@CloudyIvy55 You are doing amazing, I remember this phase like a blur and thinking how was ever I going to get through it. Those tiny tummies that seem to need constant refills. I found it a bit easier when we co-slept but first few months were just a bit brutal on the sleep front. It will get better soon. The love is like nothing else isn't it? I still look at my 8 yr old and feel overwhelmed by the love and it seems like yesterday he was keeping me up all night.

AmberRose26 · 06/05/2026 20:18

@CloudyIvy55 thats amazing so happy for you, it seems tough but you will power though I am sure and it will get easier.

I am officially on mat leave now .. feels so good . 32 weeks this week so it’s nice to have the next 8 weeks to just relax ! Well I say relax .. getting the nursery ready will be the focus now, painting and build up the cot/ furniture etc .. ☺️ Hope everyone else is good 💛

CloudyIvy55 · 08/05/2026 10:47

Thank you @Sara237and @AmberRose26!

Are any of the Mums on here part of any good newborn parenting threads? Ive found the support from all of you on here so helpful through pregnancy and would love to find a similar newborn thread?

Im just aware that for the ladies still waiting for their babies to arrive, they might not want to hear me talking about baby highs and lows.

Sara237 · 08/05/2026 13:56

@CloudyIvy55 I'm not, but I honestly don't mind hearing all the ups and downs. I like it. It's good to normalise that bring a mum is tough. Love like no other, gratitude all the way. But also bloody hard work! When I had my son and just saw endless face book constructs of everything looking effortless and like perfection, I felt overwhelmed. Tell it like it is, it's better imo. Xx

magpie234 · 08/05/2026 17:53

@CloudyIvy55 No but let me know if you find one! Trying to get breastfeeding off the ground here and really really struggling…

AmberRose26 · 08/05/2026 18:20

@CloudyIvy55 just a thought .. you should create a group .. then the ladies that have already gave birth can access just now and … we can all move there once our babies are here !😅 ☺️💛 how lovely to continue to hear from everyone re baby ups and downs when we have been through the fertility and pregnancy side of things 🥰

CloudyIvy55 · 08/05/2026 18:57

@AmberRose26 sounds like a plan! I'll try and figure out how I start a thread and invite you all to it!

@magpie234sorry if you've tried this and it hasnt worked, but what really helped me get breastfeeding started was using the Laid-Back (Biological Nursing) position: You recline comfortably (not flat) and lay the baby on your tummy, allowing them to use their natural instincts to find the nipple.

Sara237 · 08/05/2026 21:52

@magpie234 Sorry to hear breast feeding is proving tough, do you have help? I had this lactation expert who visited in addition to midwife visits in first few days and she showed me some different ways to improve the latch. I'm a bit worried about whether having an elective will make breastfeeding trickier as keep reading different things. Hope things improve for you.
