BABY NOT MOVING, SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

ok so im on 16+3 but have felt the baby move every day since 12 weeks. Havent felt it move for about 1 week. Should i be worried? I know thats bad if your heavily pg but not sure what to do? Left message for m/w to ring me..

Yes good idea for you to ring your midwife.

Most likely is that the baby is now in a position that you can't feel it so well - kicking against placenta for example.

Have a cold, sugery drink, lie on your left hand side, and see if you can feel it moving - that's the normal advice for women who are usually a bit more pregnant then you.

They might ask you in and monitor/try and find heartbeat, I hope all is fine - try not to worry. Baby might just be kicking towards the back instead or something

Hi mad4mybaby, I'm 19 weeks on Monday and I hadn't felt my baby move for almost a week, I rang my midwife and she told me to go into my local women's hospital to let them have a listen, I didn't wait long and was relieved to hear a healthy heartbeat. The midwives said that the baby had just moved into a different position and was maybe being cushioned by the placenta and that's why I wasn't feeling the movements.

I'd ask for a midwife to have a listen for you, so you're not worrying all weekend. .

thanks guys. I still havent had the h/b listened to... i could see it beating on the scan at 13 weeks.... it is my second so shouldnt be such a worry wart but my ds wiggled all day and night (still does!)

will do , if she ever rings back! /just feel abit odd today (probably anxiousness!) feel v out of breath and feeling alot further along than i actually am! oooohhh how im dreading those later months!

the other thing is that we had sex a weeks ago and its since then we havent felt it move... not sure if thats a coincidence as pretty sure sex wouldnt do anything unless its suitably embarrassed by its parents!

Sex wouldn't have harmed a thing, I promise! And yes, stress probably is effecting how you are feeling.

I would go to hospital today and get checked. You have had no movement for a week and your midwife has not phoned you back.

to be fair on her i left the message at 8.45 this am. Thing is had ds in a different area and they seem to do things differently round here... not sure what is the done thing on them ringing you back? It was the community midwifes phone number i rang. Im assumung if she wasnt on duty today someone else would ring me back? Should i ring again after lunch?

Its probably fine but you def need it checked out. I would probably ring the hospital they will probably tell you to go down to have a listen

Agree if you're not getting any response from your midwife, then contact the hospital.

Yes get it checked out just to reassure yourself. I had the same thing happen at 20 weeks and got a total bollocking from the mw for not having called. (baby had started to move again by time I had mw appt)

im booked in at a birth centre... so dont ring them? just ring any hospital?

the m/w number and 3 diff hospitals (all about half hour away) are the only numbers...

You should definately ring, its most definately a false alarm, and they may tell you to drink some cold water, orange juice or something sweet and put your feet up for 1/2 hour. If the baby has turned and facing your back you can't feel him kicking.

don't feel like a nuisance for ringing your mw. It is important to have your mind put at rest. I rang mine all the time, and went to check out with the monitor loads of time. They were always nice to me (prolly thought I was a pita secretly but who cares.

Im not sure how the birthing centre works, ie are they just for labour, or for problems?. I would ring one fo the hospital numbers and explain

I would go in to be checked or even call your gp as they might be able to have a listen.
