Hope everything ok

mad4mybaby · 13/06/2008 20:30

thanks for your concern. My midwife still hasnt rang me back which really hacked off about as i rang her mobile and it did ring, whereas surely if she wasnt on duty it'd be switched off? Anyway i rang the day assesment unit at one of the hospitals and the m/w said she didnt think it was anything wrong with not feeling it at this stage. She did keep wittering on about how you dont feel it until 16+ even though i told her id felt it since 12 weeks and same with ds. I dont think she really believed me.

I did the cold sugary drink and laying on left side earlier and still nothing. I decided to see how i go over w/e and if m/w still hasnt rang back i'll go and see my gp see if she'll listen for h/b at least thats something.

I really think you need to go to hospital now.

"She did keep wittering on about how you dont feel it until 16+ even though i told her id felt it since 12 weeks and same with ds. I dont think she really believed me".

You need to speak to someone who does believe you.

Phone back and arrange to be checked over asap.

mad4mybaby - does your GP surgery have an out of hours service? Call them - with mine you can go to the local hospital and they will just have a listen with a pinnard stethoscope and confirm all is well. Don't fret over the weekend, just go. And THEN when you know everything is well draft your letter of complaint to the head of midwifery.

I feel for you - I can't ever get my comm midwives to pick up the phone and I'm 33 weeks with a history of prem labour!

NotABanana · 13/06/2008 21:02

Good. Sorry to be harsh but we are all worried too and wish you had gone to the hospital earlier to be checked out. Please go to hospital now.

If I hadn't gone when I couldn't get a response from my baby for a lot less time he wouldn't be asleep upstairs right now.

Eve34 · 13/06/2008 21:30

Please just go to A&E they will take you in and check for the babies heart beat - I didi it whilst I was PG - felt silly but wanted the reasurrance, they won't mind x

mad4mybaby · 13/06/2008 21:44

if i go to A&E i'll have to sit around for hours. I have my ds in bed and no one to look after him so it isnt plausable. I may ring out of hours tomorrow am though.

Surely if the midwife says its ok i shouldnt be worried though should i?? youre all scaring me now im not at the hospital! My bump has def got bigger this last week... im seeing that as a positive thing?!

Okay, go tomorrow morning first thing - I can understand why you don't fancy the night of Friday the 13th at A&E.

Don't suppose you know anyone with a doppler?

It is probably fine but for your own peace of mind, don't ignore it. If the worst had happened and your baby had died, you'd want to know and you'd need medical treatment anyway to protect your health.

Most likely his/her placenta is in the front and so you can't feel a thing. But do you really want to wait another 48-72 hours to have that confirmed?

mad4mybaby · 13/06/2008 21:51

i probably would have done if i hadnt come on here! (pls dont take that as a critism!) If i was further along id have been done there like a shot. Every belly gurgle i feel im thinking oh maybe that was the baby doing something odd and ive just missed the movements. Yeah i know clutching at straws.

Don't feel bad - whatever you do, you feel like you are wrong. I know the feeling. Look you aren't causing any bother by asking to be checked out and it's unforgivable of the midwives to ignore your concerns.

An out of hours GP should be able to dig out a doppler from somewhere.

mad4mybaby · 13/06/2008 21:58

thanks for the advice. I'll give them a call in the morning

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 14/06/2008 10:05

You really shouldn't worry too much as it's likely the placenta is at the front and baby is just facing the wrong way, at this stage they are so small that the movements are really easy to miss, but it's worth having it listened to anyway to reassure you, and so you know if this happens again that it's nothing to worry about. Good luck getting seen today! xxx

NotABanana · 14/06/2008 10:41

Have you phoned yet?

This has been over a week since you last felt something and you should have felt something in that time.

NotABanana · 14/06/2008 10:57

Any change in a baby's movements needs to be checked out. Please go today.

beeny · 14/06/2008 11:07

Please listen to advice

orangehead · 14/06/2008 15:59

and at the midwife. I hope you get it checked out today. I was always told never to feel silly going in, and If I didnt feel movement for the day to go straight in. Hope you ok
