Brown discharge and loss of nausea

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 04:16

I am 9 weeks pregnant. For the past few days I have been getting watery brown discharge, not much at first but now pretty much every time I wipe and have been wearing pads which show brown discharge. Had a couple of incidents of pink discharge too a bit like mucus, last time was yesterday afternoon. A week ago I noticed nausea seemed to have stopped after bothering me for a few weeks.

From what I have read, all points towards a bad ending. I have been crying all night, worrying the worst has happened.

anyone experience anything similar and not had a bad ending?

I am beside myself with worry; thank you.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ohhh bless you. I don't want to give you false hope but early weeks I was shocked to see what looked to me like a lot of brown discharge in my knickers. It was however a one off.

My children are adults now, so I'm not sure how things work now, but would it be possible for you to get a scan in the morning? Well, later this morning.

I'm sending you a big hug, I hope you can get a couple of hours sleep so you can function later on.

Wishing you all the best.

I’m so sorry you’ve been worrying. Do speak to someone as soon as you can, a scan will confirm one way or the other.

Milosc · 09/01/2026 04:36

OP, I had a lot of discharge like that with both my kids and I remember the panic each time. Turns out I actually have a bicornate uterus they found when I had my c-section and no one knew and I was having mini periods my whole pregnancy. It can also be residual blood from your last period as you can get pockets that retain period blood and it turns brown and comes out much later. The female body is interesting and a mystery sometimes. It is scary, but please try to rest and see if you can talk to your doctor tomorrow. Take heart and be gentle with yourself. Wishing you the best ❤️

My discharge turned light pink when I wiped this morning, I have burst into tears, going for a private scan this afternoon.

Thinking of you OP x

Hi @Lookingforhope26don’t know how to link my other post but I had a very similar thing.
I actually passed red blood and a clot the next day.

Obviously each person is different but mine was a sch - haematoma in the womb.

They didn’t know why the nausea had suddenly gone, but it came back in the car on the way home from the scan.

I believe the nausea going was a brief blip (I’ve had a few days like this and normally it’s back in a few hours or the next day) but I genuinely think the adrenaline from the stress meant it did not return until I had good news.
I think it’d have been back if I’d not had any blood
Please let me know if you have more Qs and hope all is well later xx

aLogLady · 09/01/2026 10:02

i really wish you all the best, I’ve had bleeding in my current pregnancy (brown, pink, and actual gush of red) and all was well (sub chorionic hematoma and friable cervix) but I have also had 2 mcs, although I bled a lot less with those until the mc itself.

i very strongly advise you to call your epu. I know you’re getting a private scan today, but no matter what, your epu/epas will be best placed to look after you. The nhs can’t take private scans into account, so will want to scan you themselves in order to either prescribe progesterone or offer other appropriate care, or take subsequent scans to monitor progress. They should be able to see you fairly quickly as you’re 8 weeks.

Really truly best of luck OP.

aLogLady · 09/01/2026 10:04

Oh and my nausea lifted significantly from 8.5 weeks and was gone by 9 weeks. Do you have any aversions? Are they still there? Nausea can come and go as your hcg rises in waves. I know things can go either way, but I hope you receive good news today.

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 11:03

Hi, I phoned EPU but they won’t see me. Phoned GP and they gave me a number for midwives but it just rang and rang and I’ve tried a few times but never get through to anyone. Feel like there’s no one I can speak to.

Renisenb · 09/01/2026 11:22

I’m surprised they won’t see you - I had my scan after an online referral to EPU but now you’ve got a private scan they will be able to give you answers.

keep us updated and post here even if you just need support - the wait feels soooo long doesn’t it

NormaNormalPants · 09/01/2026 11:26

Keeping fingers crossed for you. Early pregnancy is such a worry! I had tinged discharge around this time in both my pregnancies and believe it’s fairly common as it’s around the time the placenta beds in and takes over (which can also mean a lightening of nausea too) x

laesosalt · 09/01/2026 11:29

Sending hugs. I had bleeding with my second and it was a SCH xx

Shmoigel · 09/01/2026 11:35

I also had a SCH. Had no idea what it was. My daughter is now 14. It happened a few times, mainly when I was dehydrated.

SparkyBlue · 09/01/2026 11:40

OP you poor thing my heart goes out to you. The not knowing and uncertainty is awful. I’ve had this happen twice. Once unfortunately it was bad news and the second time on my next pregnancy it was fine and my DD is now 13.

Added a couple of images of discharge I have been experiencing.

Hi @Lookingforhope26
So sorry you are dealing with this. I completely undertake the stress and worry. Is someone attending the scan with you?

For reference, all my sickness went around week 9 in my current pregnancy. I was grateful for about an hour then just completely worried but all was fine it just seems that's the way it was. Apparently it's pretty common for symptoms to come & go.

I also was admitted to EPU last week for pink discharge exactly like what you show in your images. I had it for about 3 days, and they just put it down to extra pressure. All was fine with my bloods and scan.

In contrast I have also had 3 losses prior, all of which I had spontaneous bleeding but it was much more period like. So red on wipe as opposed to pink or brown mucus. Not like your pics.

Brown blood is old. Have you had intercooler recently? (TMI I know, but sometimes intercourse can knock some old blood out and cause irritation).

What time is your scan? We will all be thinking of you

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 12:47

Now have bright red blood 😢

Renisenb · 09/01/2026 12:48

Hi there.

Not saying it in a competitive way but I had more than that, plus my clot was about 3-4cm long

I say that to reassure you. Once the clot came out there was quite a bit more brown blood.

Obviously you won’t know for sure until the scan, but all is not lost!
xx

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 12:47

Now have bright red blood 😢

Just seen this after writing my comment.

its really hard, just focus on getting to the time of your scan, you don’t know for sure yet and red blood can still be a clot like I and others have had

When is your scan? If you’re happy I can pray for you
xx

Justlostmybagel · 09/01/2026 12:52

Sorry you're going through this, OP. Hopefully your scan will give you answers.

snowedunderwithstuff · 09/01/2026 12:52

OP, I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s awful to feel so powerless about your own body.

FWIW, I’ve had this go both ways. I had a missed miscarriage (MMC) which started with brown discharge at 11 weeks when everything had stopped developing at 5-6 weeks, unbeknown to me at the time. I also had it when I was pregnant with DS1, straight after the MMC. I was terrified but it was found that l had a subchorionic hematoma (sp?), basically a bruise in my uterus which was bleeding and DS1 was unaffected.

Sending you love and strength and I hope you get some answers soon x

Really feel for you.
Sending hugs and strength.

wildblue07 · 09/01/2026 12:57

So sorry you’re going through this OP. Early
pregnancy is so hard and such a worry all the time. Thinking of you.
As others have said, I’ve had a similar experience go both ways. Had two successful pregnancies with bleeding in both around a similar time to you, both times there was red bleeding but it stopped quickly and turned out it was an old clot coming out. One miscarriage when the bleeding just got steadily heavier and heavier throughout the day.

EPU I think now need a referral from a GP or they do at least in my area so I would be phoning the GP again. They should at the very least be doing blood tests to check whether your HCG is decreasing or increasing.

thinking of you x
