Brown discharge and loss of nausea

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 04:16

I am 9 weeks pregnant. For the past few days I have been getting watery brown discharge, not much at first but now pretty much every time I wipe and have been wearing pads which show brown discharge. Had a couple of incidents of pink discharge too a bit like mucus, last time was yesterday afternoon. A week ago I noticed nausea seemed to have stopped after bothering me for a few weeks.

From what I have read, all points towards a bad ending. I have been crying all night, worrying the worst has happened.

anyone experience anything similar and not had a bad ending?

I am beside myself with worry; thank you.

Just seen this after writing my comment.

its really hard, just focus on getting to the time of your scan, you don’t know for sure yet and red blood can still be a clot like I and others have had

When is your scan? If you’re happy I can pray for you
xx

Scan is at 3:30 xx

Ok will be thinking of you then.

bring something to distract you in the waiting room - I felt I was in there an eternity but luckily there was a TV on and that distracted me and my husband.

Definitely try to get referred to ÉPU. Where I am it’s self referral but some places it’s GP referral

The two people I saw were SO lovely and they gave me the direct number now that I’ve been in and said to call that if I was worried at all.

xxxx

Have to bring my 3 year old to scan too as no one to look after her

ahh that’s rubbish just double check they will let her in- at the EPU I was at they won’t let you in with a child.

Have you told the scan place you need to bring her? Most won't let kids in.

Is your partner (if you have one) around or a close friend?

Good luck today!

I just wanted to say, I had a huge bleed at 6 weeks. Literally bright red, tonnes of blood, large clots.. I thought that's it, there's no way! Went for a scan, and there it was, heartbeat and everything.
I then bled bright red bloody daily until about 10 weeks.
At 10 weeks, I had another huge bleed, huge clot, and thought the same, that it was all over.
But that little bean is sat next to me right now nearly 4 years old and doing well.

I hope you have good results at the scan today!

MedievalNun · 09/01/2026 14:31

Just popping in to say that if you can’t reach the EPU, ring the labour ward and ask for the duty midwife & get them to refer you to EPU.

Sending a hug. I had this (and after 6 mc I was so panicked) but it ended up that I’d lost a twin (fraternal). The baby is now in her 20s.

But huge hug and thinking of you

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 15:41

Well I had my private scan and I’m really confused, baby was only measuring 5 weeks 6 days and I should be 9 weeks and 2 days. Woman said she could see heartbeat flickering on screen still and no idea why I was bleeding. I’m so confused. I got positive pregnancy test end of November. She said there’s a chance I could have got pregnant then that not worked and got pregnant again straight afterwards? She didn’t see a reason to refer me to hospital. She said it looked viable but I definitely wasn’t 9 weeks.

I don’t know what to think at the moment or what’s happening. I am so confused.

I'm sorry, OP. I would be expecting the worst with such a big discrepancy on the dates. Do you have someone who can support you?

Lyndsey8880 · 09/01/2026 15:50

Oh I'm really sorry, and would also be confused like you. Hope you're doing as okay as can be expected xx

lilybop · 09/01/2026 15:51

I would contact EPU again, they should be monitoring this that's what they are there for! I would expect them to arrange a second scan for a couple weeks time to check baby’s growth. Hoping all work’s out for you OP 🤞🏻

aLogLady · 09/01/2026 15:58

I’m sorry you got such a confusing result. I second, third, forth everyone here that this is exactly what the EPU are here for, I’m angry they’ve sent you away. I’d try them again, as you need a follow up scan.

BudgetBuster · 09/01/2026 16:06

I would definitely be contacting EPU again or your GP if they need a referral.
Early scans can often be off but I wouldn't expect them to be 3 weeks off.

MedievalNun · 09/01/2026 17:44

Definitely get hold of EPU now, if only to confirm dates etc.

Lookingforhope26 · 09/01/2026 22:34

I know it’s 0% of survival now I am measuring so far behind, I have cried so much, partner also devastated. Bleeding not been heavy but have had some intermittent intense cramps on left side. I phoned gp and 111 when go home but neither helped. Will phone EPU again tomorrow even though unlikely they will help. I have rhesus negative blood type so I should get anti d injection after bleeding in pregnancies to protect future pregnancies.

my only hope is that I will have successful pregnancy again in future.

thank you everything for your support, I really appreciate it 🩷

Oh OP I have been in your shoes, baby was measuring so far behind and I think I knew deep down. I had it all confirmed by EPAU and opted for a D&C. If you want to chat let me know. Happy to answer any questions.

Just remember it’s not your fault, nothing you did caused this. Nothing anyone can say will make you feel better. Sending you a massive hug

MedievalNun · 10/01/2026 11:06

Oh my love.

If you get no answer from EPU ring the labour unit and insist on speaking to the duty midwife, so you get some care.

Sending you a big hug. Make sure you get the anti-D next time.

Lookingforhope26 · 11/01/2026 20:51

Just to let everyone know - confirmed missed miscarriage today at hospital as baby’s heart stopped beating. 💔
