Other thread is full already! Ive to head out but feel free to tag others, if not I can do it when back

Just back from my GP check up - all looking good. I’ve really bad back pain the last few days and he reckons I might have pulled something. Recommended exercises and a birthing ball

We registered Robyn today, she’s official! Can’t believe how quickly the last 3 weeks have flown by, felt like the appointment was ages away when we booked it!

Those pictures are very sweet @dubkitten, we’ve got some personalised stuff ready to go up on the nursery wall now too, just need to actually get round to it 😅

A bit of a belated update as my new little girl is now a week old! Despite all hopes, I didn’t start before my induction….I tried to have a sweep at 39+1, but my cervix was still closed; I went in for my scheduled Foley’s balloon induction the Sunday before last, but my cervix was still unfavourable, so I went back home and then came back the following day to have the gel (1ml). Things started slowly, but as things had finally got going, when I had the second dose it was another 1ml dose late on Monday evening. That seemed to do the trick for more regular contractions, although throughout Tuesday I was able to breathe through them. However, by Tuesday evening that was getting trickier, and although they were only every 6 minutes or so, they were long and intense, and from Tuesday night I was struggling not to cry out, which I was really conscious about, as I was in a shared antenatal ward. Late Tuesday I had an examination and was 3cm, but I wasn’t re-examined for another 16 hours or so (partly because the Labour ward was full, so they had nowhere to put me even if I was dilated enough). This pissed me off so much, as the way they described it, although I was on the list for the Labour ward, people coming in with spontaneous labours would be prioritised, even if less dilated, I was seriously worried I’d end up giving birth in the antenatal ward and by that point was desperate for gas and air after two days labouring on paracetamol and codeine which did precisely nothing! Luckily, I finally got reexamined mid Wednesday afternoon and eventually got into the Labour ward at about 4.30, so could use a birthing ball, gas and air, and had an epidural at about 7, which was a huge relief after 2 days of relentless contractions! When I got to the pushing stage, I was reminded how rubbish I am at that bit - ended up with about 6 people in the room urging me on - but I finally managed it, without needing to resort to the instrument tray, and Freya was born on her due date at 22.11!

We were discharged the following afternoon, but then noticed the following day that she was looking a bit yellowy. The MW who did the Day 2 visit was fairly dismissive (just told us to see how she was by Day 5), but by last Saturday her eye whites were also yellow, so back to hospital we went. Sure enough they confirmed she had jaundice and would need blue light therapy, so we were readmitted over the weekend. The nights in particular were pretty horrific as Freya absolutely hated both the blue light and having to wear goggles/a blindfold, but the light did their job and we were discharged again on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, we’ve still been going back and forth to hospital all week for bilirubin tests. Yesterday it had started to decrease again, but increased again today (but still under treatment levels), so we still have at least Friday and Saturday tests to go…..I’m hoping this all ends soon and we can just enjoy her.

She also has 90% tongue tie, which we’re getting separated tomorrow, so hopefully that will help with better feeding to battle the jaundice!

Congratulations on all the other January babies 💕

Awww congratulations @curliegirlie! Thanks for sharing your induction story too. I'm booked in for Sunday when I'll be 41+3. Trying everything to get things going before then but reading stories like yours that didn't end in cs are helping me! Sounds like you did an amazing job getting her out.

Mine also didn’t end in a CS. I was booked in to be induced on Thursday at 39w but my waters broke themselves on the Wednesday. 24 hours later my contractions still weren’t established so they needed to do the induction. Because my waters had gone I went straight to the drip, contractions started instantly! I was nearly at the max of 12 hours on the drip and had a temperature so they said they would check me one more time before making a call on the next steps and I was at 10cm, doc got me to push straight away and she was here 15 mins later.

I also was induced. I had one pessery and that got things moving nicely. Tbh it was very relaxed and calm. I think you see more horror stories because the good ones rnt spoke about enough I also didnt need a c section x

I’m in such a dilemma and don’t know what to do with my first. I breastfed him too the week before he was one and I loved it but this time round I’m just really struggling to enjoy it so I’ve been Combi feeding, But I don’t know whether to move to fully formula feed As I’m struggling to enjoy it this time round I don’t know if it’s just I feel a lot more touched out where I’ve got two kids but then I feel guilty that I was able to breastfeed one for a long time and not the other

Never feel guilty for doing what's best!! I know thats easier said than done!

Look at it this way.. youve gave atlas a great start in life with all the goodness from your milk, formula works aswell and can carry on giving him what he needs. You'll feel mentally better and happier for both kids and will feel less stressed out and more free for the other fella.

We have to do what works best for us and our kids. If your already thinking about it maybe you already have your answer deep down. First time round you only had your first, this time its a whole new game with new levels and more players hahah. Do what's best for you mentally and physically because a happy mum is all our kids need xxxx

I agree with Jadey - what is best for your boys is for you to be happy and be able to give them the attention you want to. You of all people cannot be accused of not doing enough for Atlas given everything you went through to get him here safely!

@Jadeypie@dubkittenYeah it’s so hard not to feel bad.! With his reflux as well I’m struggling to plan feeds around school run being able to keep him upright so he’s not sick. So there times he’s unsettled as he wants feeding.

when we have ny step son over I’ve got 3 little boys who wants my attention so I just feel stretched. My partner works nights so he helps out when he cans but it all falls to me. Even if I pump so he can feed baby so I can have a bath it’s just another thing I need to do and wash sterilises etc.

yeah I just want to be the best mum who attentive and not feeling burnt out because I’m feeding all the time. Xx

Oh god sounds like a absolute handful! Seriously i couldn't do it, I havnt breastfed because I know it just wouldn't work for us as a family and my little Harry is happy as Larry with his bottles.

Maybe if your so unsure give it another week or few days then decide xx

Confusedmermaid1 · 06/02/2026 14:44

@Sunshinemoom agree with what the others have said, you’ve got to do what’s best for you and your family. I’m finding breast feeding so hard to fit around the few plans we have and I don’t have anyone else to think about never mind having to do the school run etc., I don’t know how I would do this with another little one on the scene!
You’ve done brilliantly and stopping now doesn’t change that. Happier mum is the best thing for your boys x

dubkitten · 06/02/2026 15:02

I am bottle feeding and the not being able to share the load was one of the main reasons for this. I knew it wouldn’t work for me having the baby relying solely on me to feed her

Does anyone know of any brand of sleep suits that run quite long? Bubs is only 3 weeks and her toes are squished in 0-3 month baby grows from Sainsbury’s and M&S but ones we were given from very are massive on her. I can’t bare putting her in 3-6 months yet I already sobbed when she was out of 0-1 at a week and a half old (probably should have skipped them all together) 🫣😂

Yeah if was a lot easier when I had one. I could feed all day if he chose to be on the boob, this time it’s so much harder. That makes me feel reassured thank you.

while he’s poorly, I’m gonna pump anyway and add to the freezer!

@Confusedmermaid1 thank you. It is hard to fit breastfeeding around plans but you are doing well!! X

@dubkitten it really is hard I think I forgot from the first time round how hard it is just having a baby rely on you and only you x

Asda are a lot more generous with their sizing. They have some really lovely sleepsuits in at the minute too and at a good price. I find m&s and next a lot smaller fittings x

WanderWalker · 06/02/2026 17:22

@Sunshinemoom i can completely understand where you are coming from with the feeling of guilt. I started breastfeeding and found it incredibly hard and made the difficult decision to stop. I felt incredibly guilty and cried a fair bit about it, but my little one in thriving on formula and I’m not as burnt out so things are running more smoothly. As the girls have already said you have to do what is best for you and your family. It’s crazy how we all put ourselves under so much pressure. It’s fine to feed however you wish ❤️ sending you a big hug! Xx

Confusedmermaid1 · 06/02/2026 17:31

We’ll definitely have a trip to Asda this weekend then, thank you! I’ve bought some footless ones on Vinted but would like some footed ones so I don’t have to constantly put her socks back on 😅
Can’t believe how quickly she’s growing but then my husband is tall so she must take after him with her long legs..
