Am I actually pregnant?

Obviously none of you have the answer but thank you for reading. So my period was due October 28th but I didn’t get my period and tested on the 30th. It was a faint positive. My husband couldn’t see the line so I tested again the next day and it was stronger but still faint. At that point I was 15 dpo so I didn’t get my hopes up because I felt like the line should’ve been stronger. Same night I started bleeding.

I tested again the next day and again it was a faint positive but I had come to terms with that it was probably a chemical. The bleeding got heavier and I assumed it was my period. It lasted for 5 days and had clots in it. It wasn’t heavier than normal but there was a lot of pink and brown but also very dark blood. But then after it stopped I had pink tinged or brown tinged discharge for 5 days. Just thought it was because of the chemical.

But then 7 days after the bleeding stopped my boobs were SUPER sore and I was all confused because it was before ovulation. So I took a pregnancy test and BAM, it’s positive. I took another and another and they are strong. Did a blood test and it’s positive and equivalent to week 5ish. I have another blood test booked next week and booked an early ultrasound. I am very confused and I am scared to believe in the positive tests. Shouldn’t the lines become fainter over time if I was miscarrying? I know it can take a long time for Hcg to leave the system but the lines are as dark as they can be.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Thank you for reading and I know I won’t have answers until the next blood test and ultrasound.

Oh that sounds really positive @Pleaseletmebepregnant. As you say, a MC would be much more likely to be showing very faint tests of at all by now. I’m glad you’ve got a scan booked in though as that should rule out ectopic or molar pregnancies. Is the scan booked at EPU? I think that would be better than going private in this scenario. Good luck.

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 14/11/2025 11:16

Sounds positive. I had a really heavy bleed with clots when I was pregnant with DS. Definitely get it checked out though.

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 14/11/2025 11:28

@curliegirlie Thank you for answering! I feel like it’s positive too but I really thought it was my period so I don’t want to celebrate just yet! We don’t have EPU in my country but I’m going to a private clinic that offers viability scans as the public health care doesn't offer early scans or blood tests. Just need to be patient until Wednesday but it’s so hard! 🙈

@AnnoyedByAlfieBear thank you! At what point did you bleed? How many weeks?

My son is 13 now so I’m not sure entirely but I think it was around 5/6 weeks. It lasted a few days.

Do you know your ovulation dates?

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 14/11/2025 12:05

@BluebelIe yes, I ovulated on the 17th of October according to the clear blue tests!

When this happened to me it sadly did end in miscarriage at 6w (tests turned to BFN and bled a week later) but I have also read lots of threads and stories where it worked out well. A BFP after a heavy period-like bleed can be a sign of ectopic (mine wasn't) so if you develop any pain I would definitely go to maternity triage to be scanned for location. But fingers crossed your tests stay strong and it works out xx

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 14/11/2025 12:33

@AmberBeaker Yes I am trying to prepare myself for this while remaining hopeful! I should technically be around w6 now if I count from the first day of my last period. No pain so far, just in my boobs! I am very sorry for your loss! xx

So I bled strong for the first 8 weeks of my first pregnancy, the midwife gave me this worried look at the booking scan but everything was fine! Then I’m now on my second and exactly the same happened but maybe I bled actually for 10 weeks even … and now we are 36 weeks and all good to go!

Not saying it’s common but bleeding minor or major can still happen, sending you all the best wishes x

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 14/11/2025 12:58

@Canopop Thank you! That does make me feel better and congratulations!! xx
I just need to be patient and see what they say on the scan on Wednesday!

HiOP, this sounds so stressful for you.
I had similar. I had fertility treatment in August and got a faint positive (before my period was due), kept testing and became a bit obsessed. I had a bleed, and it lasted the length of my period. Went for a scan anyway and saw a tiny blob and a little flicker at 6 weeks.
I am now 15 weeks and baby boy is doing fine, but until recently I’ve still been bleeding. On the scan they saw I had a SCH (a small sac of blood) measuring 17% of my uterus so it was a moderate bleed which explains it all.
I do not want to give you false hope, but equally really hope it’s the same outcome for you as it was for me. It is an agonising wait, I feel for you.
Keep us posted x

LotsOfSmallThings · 14/11/2025 13:13

I posted on a similar thread the other day - I had a bleed early days of pregnancy, would have only been 4 weeks or so - I thought it was my period, it was the same heaviness, small clots etc - but then it lasted a fortnight so eventually I tested just to rule it out (we weren’t trying!) and about passed out when it came back positive 😅 now 38 weeks and awaiting baby’s arrival any day now! So it’s very possible to have a pretty significant bleed and still be pregnant, hopefully all works out for you 🤞

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 14/11/2025 13:17

@LotsOfSmallThings @PumpkinSpicedLatte Thank you both! These stories give me hope! Congratulations to your pregnancies!! I will keep you posted! xx

Been thinking of you OP, and will be thinking of you tomorrow xx

Sebora · 18/11/2025 20:00

I had a period with my first pregnancy, I was 7 weeks by the time I found out - I thought it was just Covid vaccine side effects 😂

good luck with your scan. Hope it goes well and your baby is there 🥰

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 19/11/2025 04:23

@PumpkinSpicedLatteYou are so sweet thank you! I will let you know how everything goes today!! xx
@Sebora that’s another story that makes me calm down a bit! Thank you! 🙏🏼 xx

I had the most awful bleed at 6w2d (IVF pregnancy), I was soaked in blood when I woke up and it wouldn't stop. On and off bleeding until 16w. She's 2 now!

Pleaseletmebepregnant · 19/11/2025 09:40

Thank you all for your stories and support! It helped me keep calm! However, I’m just back home from the scan and it turns out I must have miscarried early and the HcG is just taking its sweet time leaving my body. My uterus was completely empty and there was no ectopic pregnancy. I’m still testing positive but for the first time in two weeks it’s fainter. I have loads of symptoms still so I feel confused and heartbroken. We’ve been ttc for 24 months now and are waiting for IVF. Just thought this was it. It was our first ever positive test though, so at least we know we can get pregnant!

Thank you all! xxx

Aw I'm so sorry for your loss especially after your tough journey, but please do take hope that maybe your body knows now how to get pregnant. Wishing you the best x

Canopop · 19/11/2025 10:12

So sorry to hear this, I understand the pain of waiting for a baby, 2.5 years ttc to get my first and mid-covid meant no fertility services at the time. The month after finally starting the process and my HSG test we finally got pregnant naturally, they must have cleared my tubes. Sending you lots of positive baby vibes x

Sebora · 19/11/2025 10:12

Sorry for your loss OP.

best of luck with your IVF journey xx
