Hi, I need advice I’m 4w4d (17 days past ovulation today ) I had positive tests since 8DPO but last few days they seems the same bit getting any darker I’m not spotting or bleeding I live in Uk should I contact early pregnancy unit? I’m 40 years old and had missed miscarriage back in June at 8 weeks. Had anyone experienced this? Is this a chemical pregnancy?

Give your GP a call tomorrow and ask for 48 hour bloods. They’ll be able to see if your HG is rising.

My easy at home tests never got darker in my pregnancy with my son. Try to not test anymore as it’s causing worry.

If you experience any bleeding or pain reach out to epu for a scan incase ectopic.

It’s really hard at 4 w 4 days as they won’t see much but in another week they should be able to locate pregnancy if you’re worried x

I am the same dpo as you and also seeing this with my tests! I’ve switched to wondofo tests which have nicer lines but they are also not really changing. It’s stressful and I’m sorry it’s your experience too!

I’ve have a number of chemicals and with those never had lines get this clear or stay so long so I’ve no idea what to think

Jellybunny56 · 12/10/2025 12:54

Unfortunately it’s a case of wait & see. Our EPU wouldn’t see you due to this unless potentially you had bleeding, and GP wouldn’t agree to do bloods just based on at home test. It’s easier said than done but try to be patient, sit tight and see what (if anything) happens. It’s worth remembering that these tests are not built to track progression- they have only 2 responses; pregnant or not. X

Thank you . Do you think is better to call GP instead of early pregnancy unit? I stupidly registered my pregnancy few days ago so I guess I need to call early pregnancy unit to let them know to ignore my pregnancy referral

Sleepykt I’m really sorry you going through this too 🙁

If your epu allow self referral you could call them! My GP would do a referral to epu if I asked but wouldn’t do blood tests for me themselves. I think I’m going to wait and see a bit more 💚

I wouldn’t do anything yet. You’ve had no bleeding,
your tests are still positive, you are pregnant until told otherwise.

I agree with this. There's nothing on your tests to warrant the GP/EPU at this stage. All are positive, you're not bleeding and have no other signs of anything.

Thank you

Your lines seem really good! My chemical was confirmed when I was given an early scan due to bleeding. I didn’t progress on the digital weeks tests either xx

Mum285 · 12/10/2025 18:35

@McGregor33 that’s what I’m worry too that my hormones are so low already that eventually I will miscarry later weeks 😕when did you experience chemical what week of your pregnancy you start bleeding? I’m sorry for you loss xx

Thanks everyone! Early pregnancy unit can’t see me till next week( when I’m 6weeks ) I have done one more test with quite pale urine but I can clearly see that’s hormon is dropping. My question is how long is going to take for me to start bleeding?

@Mum285im really sorry about this! For my chemicals I have usually started bleeding once the tests became completely negative. In some cases this has been in 24 hours and in others a few days xxx

Mum285 · 13/10/2025 10:02

@sleepyktok thank you xxx

Those tests are looking fine so far I think. If you look at the last pic you posted, the bottom one (I presume the most recent one?) has a much thicker line than the one above. If you’re not experiencing any bleeding you have little reason to panic at this stage. EPU may not want to scan or take bloods if you’ve had no bleed or pain, but you might want to try and book yourself in for a private scan in a couple of weeks time.

Mum285 · 13/10/2025 11:36

@curliegirliethank you. I know and I still had hope but todays test don’t look as promising as look much lighter 🙁😞

I saw those. They were what I was referring to when I said the bottom one looks thicker/more solid. You’re that early on too that different urine dilutions can very much make a difference, so please try not to panic if you think it’s the same/lighter than a FMU one from the other day. I think it looks great for a CB. No one here can say whether it will turn out successful or unsuccessful in the end, but I think you’ve got every reason to think positively. Take care and I hope your next batch of tests will reassure. Pink line (especially the Boots early pregnancy tests) seem to be clear than blue. Take care x

Mum285 · 14/10/2025 11:51

@curliegirlieyes it does look thicker at first then when it’s dry after few minutes looks the same as top one unfortunately. I will test one more time today but don’t have big hopes unfortunately. Thank you for your reply ❤️
