Ok, so I didn't think I was pregnant at ALL - getting married next week, thought about TTC in a few months... then I woke up three nights in a row covered in sweat (TMI?) and with this WEIRD sense of activity in my tummy area. Had afternoon naps all weekend, couldn't manage more than a glass of wine and just KNEW. Test confirmed it on Wednesday. Have freaked myself out looking at the books and remembering all the 'bad' things I've done in the last month (not taking folic acid supplements, fair share of booze, antihistamines...) - so please come compare symptoms and experiences with me!

I with you! no folic acid, lots of unhealthy things. this will be my second, dd1 is 9mo.
my question is when do we start telling people??

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 11:22

p.s. early detection tests my ass! I KNEW a week before I got a positive!

MissMitford · 30/05/2008 11:30

Yeah, me too - I was peeing on the stick going 'yeah yeah tell me something I DON'T know...'

I've got a SD who's 6, we get on very well although I am vaguely wondering how we'll manage with 2 bedrooms. She stays every Weds and other weekend. but am sure it will all be fiiiiiiiine...

yup on the two bed thing.... We've just started talking about moving - geuh! Have you picked a date for your wedding?

MissMitford · 30/05/2008 11:36

Yeah it's sunday week, June 8th! So hopefully I will be totally bump free still...the dress is pretty tight fitting.

does that technically make it a shotgun wedding??!!!

OP posts:
ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 11:38

oh you can totally get away with that!! Have you told everyone yet?

MissMitford · 30/05/2008 11:39

Told parents, the father (!) and a couple of friend who've had babies, just cos I wanted to compare symptoms.... you?

Me too - I absolutely just knew - also been doing lots of unhealthy things... DS1 is 23 months and I have 2 SS aged 5 and 8, they are with us on Thursdays and every other weekend too. They adore DS and he's been spoilt rotten by them both - it will be fine I promise! Bit of a problem with space also, but think we'll move DS in with boys (it'll be an adventure for him!!) Miss Mitford, I was also worried when I was pg with DS1 about how it would all work out, but SS have been absolutely brilliant! Let's hopw DS is as welcoming.....!

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 11:41

told my best friend (my dh doesnt know!) I have had PND since dd but have been feeling great and am thrilled that another shot at doing the pregnancy/baby thing will be a fabby experience!! here's hoping!!

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 11:42

hi lakelover, do either of you know what your due date is yet, Im pretty sure mine is feb 2nd

MissMitford · 30/05/2008 11:47

Thanks Lakelover... that's reassuring to know. DSD is very fond of animals, we're endlessly playing baby monkeys and kittens, so we will persuade her it's a new cute lil baby cub...

Ok, so what are the do's and don't about eating? I just re-read this and now am totally confused.

Mine is supposedly Jan 31st...

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 11:59

last time I was so sick I had no choice about what I ate (by the way rice crispies are really unpleasant in reverse!) have you been feeling sick?

And don't worry about what you're eating too much, try to stay happy and if you really want something, have it! But be careful because I'm still trying to loose the "I'm eating for two" weight!

Lakelover · 30/05/2008 12:08

Not sure! Am still very early on, but around early Feb like ruthmollymummy! Am so sorry to hear about the PND last time am sure this time will be better, two of my friends were literally pole-axed by PND after their first babies, and had NO sign of it the second (and third) times round...

Not sure if this helps Miss M, but I didn't really feel like drinking when I was pregnant with DS, but I did occasionally have a glass of red wine and a bit of champagne at a wedding (whooo! rock and roll!!) Didn't seem to do any harm - I agree though, it's so hard to know what is best when they constantly move the goalposts isnt it?! Am so excited about being PG again - have clearly forgotten the twitching legs, the heartburn, the insommnia....

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 12:16

Oh no don't remind me LL, its just such an exciting time though, I love all the doctors appointments and planning and preparing and presents! (attention seeker much!?)and I LOVED having my big round belly.

Lakelover · 30/05/2008 12:28

so did I RML!! There's something so freeing about it isnt there? I was absolutely ENORMOUS by the end of it, (nicknamed 'The Supertanker') but LOVED it all the same! Have only told DP Mum and sister at the mo, but desperate to spill the beans! It's so lovely when people are nice to you in the supermarket and you get lots of cups of tea at work! MM, sounds like your SD will be brilliant with the new arrival! It's like they have a new toy - just a rather noisy one! Are you both on the folic acid now then? I bought mine the other day! Any cravings/revulsions yet? I've got a McDonalds craving with a vengance - all I can think about is Big Macs and chocolate milkshakes, hmmm - htat might be why I turned into the supertanker last time! xx

Lakelover · 30/05/2008 12:30

PS Sorry I meant RMM! And also still trying to shift the baby weight I put on when I was pregnant - more 'tummy' mummy than 'yummy' mummy.....

nervousmama · 30/05/2008 12:34

hi everyone i just joined and this is my first preg and im absolutely petrified! i am about 5 weeks and hardly feel any diff i aint even been sick ( i know i should not be cmplaining about that)

MissMitford · 30/05/2008 12:41

Hmmmm I have just returned from yet another green-faced trip to the loo -- ppl will start to wonder...

Sorry about the PND RMM, but I too know ppl who had it after number 1 but never again next times around.

I must say I am slightly freaked about getting big - I've already got massive boobs, so my waist is the only thing that gives me any shape at the moment... am sure I will love it though.

Nervousmama, fear not... I am alternating between fear and delight and today is a delight day!

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 14:07

My pregnancy craving is .....healthy things! I went off sweets and chocolate [shock horror face] and crave fruit and vegetables and sensible meals. grrr. It's so much easier to crave fast food than things you have to prepare!!

Mind you that was only for the first 3 months last time - then it was bigmacs all the way to the maternity ward!!

I just told my mum and dad - mum said "oh well done" in a dead pan voice...... I'm going to substitute that in my memory for "oh hooray, congratulations darling!!!"

Lakelover · 30/05/2008 15:27

LOL RMM, my mum said "Oh God.. how are you going to cope with ANOTHER one?" again in that resigned voice!

ruthmollymummy · 30/05/2008 16:13

Is it just me or is it hot in here? like really, does being pregnant make you sweat like billy-o?

Lakelover · 30/05/2008 16:28

it sure does... am extra worried about being my sister's bridemaid on 28th june, tummy is already popping out and what with the sweating and the stuffing of all the canapes and snacks and not touching any booze, people are SURE to twig! I'll have to do the old 'I'm on antibiotics' thing..
