ok so i no river is the bump nickname but i been thinkin maybe it cud actually be his/her real name 😅 i just keep sayin it in my head n it makes me smile
but then i think ppl will say its stupid or like i’m tryin to be posh or somethin??
my mum will probly hate it she hated ds4’s name too but now she says she cant imagine him bein anythin else lol
idk i just want somethin that feels special n not like theres 10 of them in the playground

The name River makes me think of the American actor River Phoenix.

I quite like River, I like nature names. I wasn't brave enough to use it though as it is a bit out there and I was thinking of my child sending out CVs trying to get work as River "Smith" in the future. I think it would be harder to be taken seriously but it might be a normal name by then. Who knows!

It's definitely not posh. It makes me think it's American (I suppose because of River Phoenix and because of it being a noun, which seems to be an American naming trend.)

It's not my taste but it's perfectly okay and people will know how to spell it!

I like it for a boy. I think Kelly Clarkson called her daughter River but I'm not keen on it for a girl.

DS played with a little girl called River recently in the park, probably about 3 years old? I think I prefer it as a boys name though.
We're on the outskirts of East London & I don't think its that unusual as baby names go, plus its straightforward to say & spell.
