I have just heard the most ridiculous bit of scaremongering ever on This Morning.
Apparently the air you breathe during pregnancy can result in your child getting a form of childhood cancer.

We aren't allowed to drink, we aren't allowed to eat stuff... now we aren't even allowed to bloody breathe!!!!!

fairyfly · 19/01/2005 11:47

I've mastered this quite well....I can't believe you are making such a fuss about giving up one more thing....

Fastasleep · 19/01/2005 11:56

This isn't the breathing in bleach fumes is it? Because seriously, I loved that one! No cleaning? Woohoo! (not that I'm pregnant...sneaks away)

apparently some "professor" of something-or-other has said that most forms of childhood cancer are a result of chemicals/pollution/industrial fumes etc breathed in by the mother during pregnancy....

you would think there would be more evidence to back this up... ie, high proportions of cancer in cihldren whose mother lived next to a factory and stuff....

I think it means that all our dp's/dh's need to send us on holiday to the countryside to stay at a nice spa with fresh clean air.
For the WHOLE NINE MONTHS!
WOOOOOOOOO

'This is the channel 4 news, new research shows that expectant mothers who are alive are putting their unborn children at risk of getting many childhood diseases...' I could actually see that samira ahmed lady (the one with a wee moustache teehee) saying that..

lunavix · 19/01/2005 12:07

We had a hamster when I was pregnant... told dp I couldn't clean the cage or come in contact with hamster poo...

I believe it's actually cat poo... but he didn't know

hahaha, men are so gullible.
do you think it'd work if I told DP that latest research shows that heavily pregnant women should have a diamond ring????

teabelly · 19/01/2005 16:09

Lockets - I did that one too - it's a shame we've just potty trained him over xmas or it'd still be working now, he he he!!!!

hippi · 19/01/2005 16:25

I got a ring during first pregancy - wish i'd thought of telling him i needed another during second to help things go smoothly - damn not fair, or the cleaning stuff. I thought i'd only have two, but maybe i'll have another just to get dh to do some of the cleaning!

starlover · 19/01/2005 17:37

hippi you could just pretend you're having another one! it'd work for a while!
or, if you happen to live in eastenders it could work for quite some time!
