Sums it up.

Wow, my husband wasn't allowed anywhere near me for much longer than that 🤭

How do you feel about it?

Parttimepaula · 03/06/2025 16:00

I only know one person that has happened to, her name is Sarah 😅
hope you’re ok, that must be a lot to process.

How are you feeling?

I think I'm still processing!

Wow, OP. How did you even find out? How was your previous birth? I think there are some extra things to be mindful of with a quick pregnancy soon after certain types of birth so might also be worth getting some advice from a healthcare professional in case there is anything they recommend doing ASAP?

Holdonforsummer · 03/06/2025 19:50

It’s unusual that you ovulated again so soon - I don’t mean to patronise you but are you sure?

Flederjo · 03/06/2025 19:50

Sorry for the daft question, but did you not use contraception?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 03/06/2025 19:52

Are you certain? I hadn’t even had a negative pregnancy test at 6 weeks post partum, still had the pregnancy hormones presumably due to a bit of retained products. Could be worth asking for a blood test if you aren’t totally sure

TheBeesKnee · 03/06/2025 19:55

Honestly there's a time and a place for a termination and this might just be it.

MiseryIn · 03/06/2025 19:57

Happened to a friend of mine. Her second DC was very very early. DC1 born November, DC2 born July. In same year at school.

Todayisaday · 03/06/2025 20:22

Well at least you won't have to be doing the school run for years and years! Providing these will be your only 2!
we have a 5 year gap and I have one in secondary and one in year 2, and I feel like have been doing the school run for ever...
Toddler years will be complete madness but they will have similar age friends.
I quite like the idea of two so close.

I had my first period about 5 or 6 weeks after DC2 was born despite EBF.

Pallisers · 03/06/2025 20:34

This was the gap between my friend's first and second. When she told her mother she was pregnant she said "what did you do - have sex in the carpark leaving the hospital?"

FcukTheDay · 03/06/2025 20:49

There is 9 months and 25 days between my first two children. Enough said 😆. Seriously though, I have four children with incredibly small gaps and it worked out well for me. They are currently 13,13,11,10. It did take me a while to lose the reputation of 'the girl with all the small kids'

hyggetyggedotorg · 03/06/2025 20:54

Gosh. There were brothers in my year at school whose birthdays were October & July. So 10 months apart.

More recently I have a friend who had twins after years of IVF in the June, then a baby conceived naturally & totally unexpectedly the following August (so 14 months gap).

The rarity doesn’t matter though, it’s how you feel. Are you OK?

Irish twins eh?

Well at least it gets it over with…

More helpfully. Give yourself a couple of weeks to think. It’s perfectly valid to decide it’s just too soon and end the pregnancy

OldMcDonaldHadABigMac · 03/06/2025 21:14

What kind of birth did you have? I believe it can be quite risky if you've had a c section but the best person to talk to would be your GP or a midwife

Parttimepaula · 03/06/2025 21:30

Saraahh · 03/06/2025 19:42

She did have the baby and it was excellent. She got to do all the early newborn stuff with a relatively immobile 10month old if I remember rightly.

those babies are now teenagers though and horrible! But I don’t put that down to the age gap, just the fact they are teenagers

BodenCardiganNot · 03/06/2025 21:32

I really thought this racist trope was done with....

TomatoSandwiches · 03/06/2025 21:36

It's not really good for your body and therefore the potential baby.
You need to recover and replenish yourself first to give any siblings the best healthy start as their older sibling.
I think a termination would be sensible to consider.

Being terminated is hardly healthier for any potential baby though…

Proper advice and support is paramount for the op so @Saraahh do you have support?

justusandthecat · 03/06/2025 21:50

There’s a little over 13 months between my two so a bit more of a gap than you will have if you decide to continue. They are 4 and 3 now and our house is madness, good madness (mostly). Having a newborn and a just turned 1 year old was hard work and we had some really rough times as a couple because of sheer exhaustion and never being able to have time just us that didn’t involve anything other than trying to catch up on sleep. Now it’s great. The kids adore each other. As someone said up thread, we decided to look at it as all the nappies, night feeding and sleepless nights got done in one hit. Nursery fees are a killer but oldest is starting school in a few months and youngest will get 30hours funded so that will bring our bill down to about £500 (it was over 2 grand at its highest)
I think people who are more organised than us probably would have found it a bit easier than we did in the beginning. Our tried and true system of winging it didn’t cut it when trying to run a house with 2 small children and 2 full time workers, unsurprisingly.

Lavenderandbrown · 03/06/2025 22:28

Congratulations op. Please see your doctor asap and they can advise you re: accuracy of test this soon postpartum and if continued breast feeding is advisable. At one time it was recommended bf cease if mum is pregnant. I have worked with 2 women who came back from 8 week maternity leave pregnant and have 2 cousins with children 11 months apart. It happens🥰. You will be busy for a long time but all parents are. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy you’ve got this.

Gyozas · 03/06/2025 23:05

Oh. Yikes. Could they wind up being in the same school year? 🫢 I am too tired to do the maths.
