Bleeding at 7 weeks pregnant.

Hey, I was wondering whether anyone experienced any bleeding in the early stages of their pregnancies? I’m 7+2 and had this bleed yesterday which lasted maybe an hour or 2, I’m now only passing brown discharge/old blood. I’m not getting any pain as such only feeling like I’m carrying a water balloon. GP phoned the EPAU who have booked a scan for me for next week as they don’t want to scan too early and miss a heartbeat and misdiagnose a MC. It doesn’t feel like prior miscarriages I’ve had, so I was just wondering if anyone else experienced anything similar and went on to have normal pregnancies?

Thanks, agree it’s the lack of knowing for sure that’s draining! I’m trying to remain philosophical and positive in general, what will be will be and will be for the best. I’ve never been pregnant before so not sure what to expect either way. The lack of severe pain and heavy bleeding leaves me wondering if all will be okay but I think the fact I’ve got any pain at all is not a positive sign from what I’ve read.

It’s so draining! I just want to know like yesterday 🙈. Until we’ve had scans to confirm either way it’s tricky. I have to say that when I had MCs before I was in a lot of pain and bled continually for over a week straight, whereas with whatever this is I’ve not really had any pain and I only bled red blood for about 1-2 hours on the day it happened and I’ve had brown discharge since so I don’t know. I really hope all is well with you, sending you positive vibes 🫶🏼

Thank you! Unfortunately I’m pretty sure it will be bad news for me as my bleeding has got heavier through the day yesterday and still ongoing (bright red, with some small clots). I’m just telling myself it is natures way and hopefully we will be able to try again soon

Oh hun I’m so sorry you’re going through this :( sending you lots of love. Have you spoken to the EPAU or 111 or something? X

I had similar and, just to prepare you for the worst, it was a MC. No cramping and much less blood than that.
Are you still bleeding now?

I’m so sorry you went through that :(. Not bleeding as such, the actual red blood only lasted 1-2 hours on Thursday, I’ve just had brown discharge on and off since x

i’m not doing too bad thanks hun. I’m still spotting, but I have my scan tomorrow so we will see what it shows. I think I know what they will say but I’m trying to stay positive 🤞🏼. Hope you’re well x

Thank you all 🩷. I’ve just had my scan - so I haven’t miscarried!! Baby has grown really well and there’s a heartbeat now ☺️. I do have quite a large subchorionic haematoma which is where the bleeding is coming from, which should hopefully sort itself out.

Hey how are things going? I’m going through the same thing I’m 7 weeks 5 days and have bleeding today. I have a scan tomorrow. They saw a hematoma on my last scan so I’m praying it’s that 😢 xx

Hey! Yeah not so bad thank you hun. I had a 17x11mm subchorionic hematoma that they found on my scan when I was around the same gestation as you are now - I’m 11+2 today and the bleeding stopped maybe at week 9 or so, but I have had the occasional spotting over since. I have my 12 week scan on Thursday so hopefully it’s all cleared up and everything is back to normal, but at my last scan baby was progressing perfectly and had a strong heartbeat. I’m hoping the same outcome for you! Have you spoken to someone about your bleed today? Xx

That’s reassuring! Thank you. Yeah I’ve rang the early pregnancy unit and they can see me tomorrow morning. I only had a private scan yesterday and saw a heartbeat. It’s such an anxious time! Xx

I can understand your anxiety completely! Everyday I was thinking is this the hematoma or am I miscarrying?! But seeing the heartbeat was reassuring. I really hope everything goes okay for you tomorrow 🫶🏼 I’m pleased they’re seeing you so soon. I had to wait a week from the time I started bleeding until my scan because they said that scanning so soon wouldn’t make a difference to the outcome because my GP was convinced I was having an MC 🙈. Hopefully it’s just your body clearing the bleed, seeing the heartbeat yesterday is a really good sign ❤️ x

Just saw your update, pleased for you! My SCH bleed looked exactly like yours and a heartbeat and growth was seen at every scan.
It stopped and started from 6-13 weeks, eventually solidifying and turning more brown. It was always very short periods a few hours and then would stop but the shock of the bright red was horrible.

funnily, when I’ve had mc or ectopic it’s always been more spotting (with lower back paid) :9 much more blood with the SCH - always with lower back pain too.

good luck to anyone else waiting for their scan - helpful to get size and location of the bleed so you can understand risk to the pregnancy. Apparently above the sac and larger than the sac is most risky. Mine was a decent size but smaller and adjacent to the sac and I’m 21w now xx

Edited

Thank you for your message.

I’m so pleased everything turned out okay for you after your bleed!🫶🏼 I didn’t realise the location of the bleed etc contributes to complications. To be honest the sonographer didn’t really say much, only that I had a bleed and I was probably going to bleed for a while, which I continued to do so for 2 weeks or so.

See when I had my MC’s I bled a lot more and I was in agony! So when the GP was saying he’s sure it’s a MC I didn’t quite believe it - obvs every pregnancy and MC is different but I had a feeling it was a bleed. I had a bit of an uncomfortable feeling, like tenderness with the bleed but nothing like my MC’s.

Hopefully everything has resolved by my 12 week scan on Thursday 🤞🏼. Sending you positive vibes for the rest of your pregnancy ✨ xx

Ah sorry for any confusion, my MC themselves have been very painful with a lot of blood but in the inital stages (often weeks before complete mc) I found the spotting minimal and usually with some lower back pain.
with the SCH though I haven’t been in any pain at all and the blood more of a gush that stops.
if she hasn’t mentioned the placement or wasn’t overly concerned by the size then that’s definitely a positive.. sure she would have said if there were worries.

if she said to expect more bleeding it may not be quite at that solidifying stage just yet, mine did take a good few weeks to get there.
it will either be absorbed or pass out so take it easy physically.
hopefully Thursday will go well for you, may be worth an extra scan between that and your 20 to see how everything is doing

@nmwx and thank you, same to you for yours ❤️
