Hi all,

Does anyone had light bleeding (daily) and still manage to progress successfully with pregnancy? I'm 6 wks+ coming to 7wks in few days time. Have been bleeding daily - most of the time it is only when I wipe after going to the toilet. No pads needed so far as it's light. Blood color is pink/dark browk/dark red with mucus.

Good news is my OB confirmed gestational sac is visible few days ago with the expected size just like a normal pregnancy, confirmed not ectopic, but did mentioned there is still a risk of miscarriage as I'm still bleeding. So we try to stay hopeful and according to the OB if my pregnancy continue to progress despite the bleeding, I will be able to see the fetus in 2 wks time.

Sorry if the picture is too gross. I know it's TMI, but really anxious to know if my pregnancy will be ok and whether anyone went through the same situation. How did you cope with it and any advice for me?

I had similar with my pregnancy with my daughter.
I had weeks of pink/bloody mucus/very dark brown discharge and needed to use liners but it was put down to implantation and settled eventually. It never looked like a period and my scans were perfect.

So far it sounds reassuring for you. Good luck.

LaTable · 06/04/2025 07:54

I've been both ways.
Bled a lot with dd2 (think heavy period) and a small amount just when I wiped a few times with dd1.
Bled just a small amount when I wiped either pink of brown every evening for two weeks until the real bleeding happened and ended up as a mc that stopped growing at 7 and a bit weeks
Fingers crossed its a good ending for you!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Glad to know that you had a successful pregnancy and delivery eventhough there is such bleeding for weeks. I was very worried and still am whenever I see the blood after wiping. Each time going to the OB for scans, I would be hoping that the scan results would turn out well and at the same time fear for any bad news. Is there anything you did that helped to reduce the bleeding frequency or any extra care advice by your OB?

Did you mean one was successful pregnancy and another was a mc? If you have any advice for me on what I should watch out for during this daily bleeding ordeal, please share with me too.

It could go either way, but isn't out of the question that things would be ok.

I had similar, starting at 8w and continuing on and off to over 20w. Delivered a healthy baby boy at 37w. No cause was ever found but consultant prescribed progesterone after 12w. I found heavy exercise and sex made it worse so I avoided both. I still walked, swam and did light exercise but certainly no running or anything like that.

Good luck xx

LaTable · 06/04/2025 14:00

Correct, I've bled like this and worse with successful pregnancies and like this with miscarriages.
Painful cramping is usually not a good sign, but honestly, you won't know which way it will go unless you pass the sac and baby or see their little heartbeats on an ultrasound.
It's a waiting game that is just torturous.
If you're worried, I'd contact epu or book a private scan.
Really got my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and advice. I am also on progesterone now due to the bleeding although cause of bleeding is still unknown. My nxt scan is not until next week. Yesterday, I had red bleeding that soaked half of my pantiliner and no bleeding after that throughout the day. I really hope that everything is still OK inside and growing, at the same time, I know it could turn out to the way. Knowing about your successful pregnancy did gave me some hope here ❤️

I had very similar on and off for 10 days around 6w was very scary and hated no one could 100% reasure me, so i feel for you. But i am now over 29 weeks! I also had lower back cramp too like the start of a period so i really did think the worst.

Unfortunately will be a case of just let it progress, try not to get stressed, keep a panty liner on to monitor each day and fingers crossed it will just stop x

3amamama · 08/04/2025 09:49

Another who has seen it go both ways. Sorry OP there is no magic way of knowing. I know it is torture. Be very, very kind to yourself right now and accept that only time will tell. Nothing you do or don’t do will change it.

My only advice is genuinely just do what you need to do right now to feel vaguely ok. I pushed through what was ultimately a drawn out miscarriage still working etc because - I don’t really know why to be honest but pressures from other people / myself to just cope. I shouldn’t have done that and if anyone queries taking time out if you need it they are wrong to do so.

Hoping you have a good outcome.

It settled on its own by about week 8. Best wishes to you.

Thank you so much for your advice and sharing your experience. It helps! I'm still bleeding on and off. One moment I see blood and once it fills half of my pantiliner. Next moment when I pee, there's nothing and no blood sign - it's been 3 weeks like that and in my 7 wks now. Scheduled for a scan next week. Truly hope that the scan result will turn out well although I know i need to prepare myself for the worst. Wishing you all the best on your delivery. 29 weeks is close to the due date! 😊❤️

@Hope133 ive had similar, watery red spotting on about 3 occasions between 6-8 weeks. I’ve had two scans and both shown baby was ok but no explanation for the spotting. A few hours after last scan I had a light bleed (not spotting) which continued throughout the night and was very red - much more worrying. I have another scan next week when I’ll be 10 weeks so I’ll know more then. Im on progesterone too so maybe worth you asking for that if you’re not already on it?

I found this thread which was comforting, so many women experiencing bleeding and lots with happy endings. So many possibilities - hormone drops, cervical ectropion, subchorionic haematomaa, fibroids etc.

Thank you so much @Xwx1010for sharing that thread. That helps me in pulling through the week knowing so many people who experienced bleeding went through successful pregnancy, though there are some didn't turn out positive too which reminds me to be prepared for that side as well.

How was your 10 wks scan @Xwx1010? I hope it went well for you and all good with baby ❤️ Mine is coming to 8 weeks in a few days time. Still bleeding everyday but not throughout the day. Most of the time is when I wipe after going to the toilet but there are also times where I see spotting on my pantiliner although it doesn't soak through the whole piece. Did the bleeding you had comes with mucus? I had very thick/sticky dark red mucus on one of the nights few days ago and it does freaked me out as i worry it might be mucus plug. I did noticed that during the week, I bled more too. Maybe from the walkings or stress at work. No idea!

I do hope that my scan next week will turn out well as honestly I don't know if I have already miscarried. I still have morning sickness nausea, dizziness, and bloating everyday, but I read from Google that morning sickness may also stay up to a mth after MC due to hormones :(

@Hope133 it’s so worrying but it definitely could all still be ok, sounds like a SCH if so.. the blood could be mixing with pregnancy DC too…

the first lot of spotting was pink / red but quite watery, the scans after were positive. The bleeding incident was more serve but it was like a start of period amount which continued through the night. It was darker and not watery - thicker but wouldn’t describe it as clots. Very active blood. Next scan is next week so I’ll know more then. My symptoms are also pretty full on too… we will see.

wishing you the best for your next scan and hope you can get some reassurance too. Let us know if you can x

Hi@Xwx1010, sharing my updates here. I was diagnosed with molar pregnancy and had D&C done. I was hoping it's SCH like many other cases, but I know i have to be prepared for the worst too. I do hope yours turn out well and the bleeding stopped for you. Mine was a rare case as molar pregnancy is uncommon. Did your OB managed to identify what causes your bleeding in recent scan?

I'm still hoping to TTC again after recovering but will see as I'm worried of having to go through the same life threatening risk as my age is catching up.. :(

@Hope133 so sorry op. A SCH was seen at 10w, I have a 12w scan next week so just hoping all is ok still. After 2 ectopics and a MMC I can totally relate to how you’re prob feeling. Wishing you all the best with your recovery and future TTC ❤️‍🩹

Thanks for your wishes, @Xwx1010. Sorry to hear that you previously had ectopic and MMC. I'm still struggling to pull through this one and having migraine at times thinking about it. I cannot imagine how you pull through the tough times. It must have been a rough journey. You are a warrior! I truly wish you all the best too and may the SCH resolve by itself. Wishing you a smooth pregnancy and safe delivery! ❤️
