As the title really. I’m having some bleeding.
Had a tiny bit of brown spotting yesterday, today had a bleed - enough to need a panty liner but not much. Seems to have slowed now. No cramps, just feeling tender and bloated. I’m 5 weeks and 3 days.

Waiting to hear back from an out of hours GP - call was due 2.5 hours ago though.

Anyone had early bleeding that ended up with a healthy pregnancy?

I've had miscarriages and live births and had bleeding in both. The difference in my live births was the blood was dark ,minimal and I never got cramps so theres hope xx my eldest child I had brown blood at about 5 weeks and was so worried due to past loss, but they gave me a blood test which showed I was " very pregnant" ( their words). Crossing my fingers for you xx

So, 50% of pregnancies with bleeding are healthy and go on to be fine. That's not going to be reassuring to you at all right now but it is true.

I have had two miscarriages and one successful pregnancy, all with bleeding. The successful pregnancy had some WILD bleeds, like soaking my shoes. Both miscarriages came with a lot of cramping and a loss of pregnancy symptoms beforehand. I passed both sacs quite quickly after the bleeding started (both were within 5 weeks losses). With both miscarriages, my cervix was open, with my successful pregnancy, it was closed.

Wishing you all the best.

jayapink · 08/02/2025 18:11

Yes I had this at 9, 14 and 17 weeks pregnant.

Was an inflamed cervix caused my pregnancy hormone the doctor said.
The bleeding was brown and like the end of a period.

My son is now sitting here playing Grin.
Fingers crossed your baby is okay, I know how scary it can be.

LividBlah · 08/02/2025 18:13

I’ve had several miscarriages and my one, miracle successful pregnancy was spent terrified due to on/off bleeding, mostly for the first ten weeks or so but some after week twenty.

It was put down to a cervical ectropion. Nothing too strenuous for me (including orgasms tbh) for the whole pregnancy and LOTS of stress, but I got lucky just once and that was enough.

jayapink · 08/02/2025 18:13

It was called cervical ectropion.

I didn't want to leave you with no reply's.

I had lots of bright red blood at 8 weeks and was sure I was miscarrying.
I went to hospital and had a scan, it turned out to be twins!
They couldn't work out where the bleeding was coming from but both babies had strong heart beats.

I went on to have regular bleeds all through my pregnancy and could never really relax but I gave birth to two healthy babies at 37 weeks.
They are now teenagers who are taller than me and very healthy.
Good luck I hope it all goes well for you

SCHSMum · 08/02/2025 18:15

Yes, and she’s now 14. Good luck 🌷

MikeRafone · 08/02/2025 18:17

Yes, my daughter was born and now I have a grandchild. I bleed right through to 20 weeks then it stopped

BodeAkuna · 08/02/2025 18:25

Same as the pp! All was fine

CulturalNomad · 08/02/2025 18:25

I had light bleeding periodically throughout my first trimester. Completely normal pregnancy/birth. My "baby" is now 29😂

I still remember how very worried I was though. I know how scary it is. Sending good thoughts your way!

NonComm · 08/02/2025 18:41

I had bleeding at 12 weeks - GP came out and thought I was miscarrying, we went to hospital and the scan showed a lively baby....
He's now 33 and 6 feet 4 ins.

BeCalmNavyDreamer · 08/02/2025 18:47

I've had an early miscarriage and 2 live births. Miscarriage was like a period in that bleeding got more intense as it went on whereas with live births it was a bleed that stopped quite quickly.

5weeksandworried · 08/02/2025 20:55

Thank you, you’re all so kind.
I still haven’t heard from the GP so I rang 111 again and was told again that someone would
call within two hours, but that was now two hours ago so I think I’ll just get some sleep.
I originally called at 1.30.
I’ll get to my own GP on Monday.

It will be what it will be - I’ve not had any bleeding in my other pregnancy so this feels different for me, although I know every pregnancy is individual. I feel like my symptoms had been ramping up, I even had some sickness this morning but they have lessened this afternoon. I have to be philosophical and hope for the best, perhaps just be grateful that if it’s a non-viable pregnancy then ending earlier is better and just focus on the next cycle.

Thank you everyone ❤️

Not me but my sister. It was a subchorionic haematoma and she went on to have my very healthy nephew.

I’m so sorry you’re having a worrying time. Sadly the GP won’t be able to do much. Have you looked into your local EPAU? They won’t usually see women before 6 weeks but it is worth checking as you can often self-refer. Good luck Flowers

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 08/02/2025 21:16

When I was pregnant for the fi at time, I had a massive haemorrhage at 11 weeks. I was at work at the time. That baby is now nearly 8.

I've had bleeding where it was miscarriage and also with a healthy pregnancy. My miscarriage started off as pink spotting which gradually got darker then had cramps. Then healthy pregnancy was around 9 weeks where out of nowhere a massive gush of bright red blood, thought the worst and went to A&E who booked me for a scan the next day. Low and behold there was a little blob with a heartbeat - it was then they prescribed me progesterone pessaries to take twice a day.

I continued to have brown spotting after this for a good few weeks. She's now a happy little 18 month old 😊

Wishing you all the best - it's an anxious time and I'm sorry you're going through the worry. Xx

Yorkshiredolls · 09/02/2025 19:00

yes, more in my first pregnancy then my second. Had subchorionic hamematoma. Spells of light in flow Red/ brown bleeding in a few occasions each pregnancy. Both babies carried to term and are sat beside me arguing over who’s turn it is on the nintendo

Hi how are you doing as I'm currently going through the same

Squidtentacles · 09/02/2025 20:48

I've had 2 pregnancies. One resulted in my son, the other a miscarriage. I bled more in the pregnancy with my son than the loss.

Who would I need to speak to about mine? Sorry for jumping in

Pollyanna87 · 09/02/2025 21:20

I had a little bleeding around 7 or 8 weeks. All turned out completely fine ❤️

strawberryblue · 09/02/2025 21:47

I had bleeding at 13 weeks, enough to fill a pad. My DC is now 3 x good luck it's a scary time but sending positive thoughts your way xx

Squidtentacles · 09/02/2025 22:39

@tiffxxx your local EPU

5weeksandworried · 11/02/2025 13:41

Thank for all the support everyone. After a horribly stressful weekend, my sickness and general pregnancy symptoms really ramped up so I feel quite reassured. I saw my GP yesterday, and booked in for a scan on Thursday when I’ll definitely be at least 6 weeks so hopefully all will be okay
