Ovulated late and 2 days late for period, am I pregnant? I’m usually on time

My last period was the 30th of December 2024, we are actively trying for a baby so this is our first month of trying. My ovulation sticks literally gave me no indication of when I would be ovulating, usually day 14 on the dot which would have been 12th of January. To my surprise i got EWCM on the 18th of January which means I probably ovulated then. This is 6 days later than expected so I’m not sure why that is as usually I’m so regular, but I was happy I still ovulated. We luckily DTD on Wednesday that week (3 days before), the morning of EWCM (luckily) and the day after. I am now 2 days late on my period, is this because I ovulated later this month or because I might be pregnant? I’m thinking about testing tomorrow which means it will be 11DPO. Fingers crossed for me!

If you ovulated late then your period is usually the same amount of days later too. Usually the second part of the cycle is fixed in length (at least for most people). So it’s likely too early to test at the minute, you could have even ovulated after the ewcm. Good luck.

Thank you, my body doesn’t usually ovulate late it’s usually on the dot and I’ve been feeling really tired, getting the cramps, sore throat, wetness like I’ve started but I haven’t and throbbing in overies. Oh and I’m always hungry! Is there a chance for me or am I out for this month 😞

Would agree you're late because you ovulated later, the luteal phase will stay the same number of days after ovulation.
Sounds like you hit the window though so good luck 😊

ForumGirlie3 · 28/01/2025 15:45

Thanks for your wishes. I’ve got everything crossed. So when am I expected to see AF and when do I take a test? I’m praying for a BFP! 💖

JuneySunshine · 28/01/2025 15:49

I would say AF would also be 6 days late?
Personally I hate an unclear test so would wait and test when AF is due so you can have a clear result, but that's just me.

ForumGirlie3 · 28/01/2025 15:51

Ok will keep that in mind. It’s just weird for months I’ve been so regular and the one month I try I’m late… will test Saturday to see the outcome. It’s going to be painful waiting this long.

You neither in nor out. You’re still in the two week wait - the luteal phase is usually the same amount of time - my cycle length changes because my ovulation day does but once I ovulate I know when my period will arrive.

I will warn you away from sign spotting in this way though. I was absolutely convinced I was pregnant for the first 6 cycles of trying becuse I felt a twinge, my boobs hurt, I feel abit sick. When I did get pregnant on cycle 8 - I had no symptoms at all and really actual pregnancy symptoms don’t normally kick in until 5/7 weeks pregnant (for most people) Pregnancy symptoms are exactly the same as PMS too so it’s impossible to say just from what you’re feeling. I actually have mild cramps before my period every single month - I just never noticed because I wasn’t paying that much attention. We lost our cycle 8 baby at 10 weeks and we’re still trying 18months from starting so I know how much it will drive you insane if you over analyse every little twinge your body feels!

ForumGirlie3 · 29/01/2025 11:16

Still no period, been told by my Flo app to take a test but haven’t yet. Lower back pain this morning and overies are throbbing. Maybe it’s a good sign for 11DPO? I’m so excited, I hope this is good news !!!!

I’m so sorry you had to go through that - sending baby dust your way. It’ll happen when the times right xxx

I think you’d definitely see a faint line now! X

If you ovulated a week later than usual then your period will probably start a week later than usual.

I’ve been feeling really tired, getting the cramps, sore throat, wetness like I’ve started but I haven’t and throbbing in overies. Oh and I’m always hungry! Is there a chance for me or am I out for this month 😞

The sore throat isn't a pregnancy symptom. The other ones could be but they're also symptoms that your period will start. Hormones do all sorts.

Even if I ovulated late, is there no chance for me to fall pregnant in this cycle then? Just feel super deflated now. Too scared to test because I don’t want my hope to be destroyed…

Don't rule it out for this month until you test... remember this is only your first month trying! Annoyingly PMS symptoms and pregnancy symptoms can be pretty similar as well 😫
Wishing you all the best! I really hope you get a positive soon x

ForumGirlie3 · 29/01/2025 11:48

I know this deep down, maybe I need to stop stressing. It is my first month trying but it’s just weird how my period is randomly late this month when I’ve been on the dot all of 2024 lol! That’s the only thing that’s giving me some kind of hope and that fact we DTD the morning of seeing EWCM… who knows!

I ovulated late the cycle I fell pregnant too and I'm now 32 weeks.
My official due date is 10 days later than the date LMP would give me.

I have never had any early symptoms. It's just felt like any normal month and that AF was about to arrive any day but she never did. I swear our bodies play cruel tricks on us when TTC because there were other months where I had every early 'pregnancy' symptom going and yet it was always a BFN.

Good luck to you

ForumGirlie3 · 29/01/2025 12:15

Congratulations!!! Amazing news. When did you test to find out???

I was TTC for a very long time so had long since stopped the obsessive monthly testing - I didn't end up taking a test until cd56 so would have been about 5.5 weeks pregnant.

I only tested as I was in the middle of an all inclusive holiday and I suddenly went off alcohol and coffee then threw up one morning at breakfast! I had to send DH out to buy a test.

You’re definitely not out! I’m not very good at waiting and have always tested early🤣 maybe if you can hold out until the weekend I’d test then!

I’m usually so impatient but I really want this so it’s stopping me from potentially being disappointed hahahah! I’ve just experienced creamy white CM (tmi sorry!) but is that a sign that my period is coming or a sign of pregnancy?

It can be a sign of either unfortunately. Everyone is different. I normally get an increase in creamy CM when I’m due on my period. I didn’t really notice anything different when I’ve been pregnant either. Not until much later on anyway. I think around 6 weeks was when I noticed it was different.

Blue2020 · 29/01/2025 15:16

@ForumGirlie3 late ovulation can just occur on occassion even with being regular. I am regular, I track ovulation and I can usually trust when I ovulate without it. When trying to conceive last time I was tracking ovulation to be certain we covered the window each cycle. One odd cycle I ovulated 6 days later than usual, it’s the cycle I conceived my son. I’m so thankful I tracked because otherwise we would have given up DTD thinking I had ovulated at the usual time and I wouldn’t have my son now.

Ovulating late doesn’t rule you out (as long as you were DTD of course- I mean that in general for anyone who reads) it just means you have to wait x amount of days longer than your usual period date to find out.

I’ve had it during pregnancy but I’ve also had it other times too so it’s impossible to say 🙄

Mummy1502 · 29/01/2025 17:15

I could have written this post myself! I also ovulated 6 days late, confirmed from a scan, i am now cd 26 (I normally have 25 day cycles) according to scan I am now 8dpo but I have just in the last hour started brown spotting so I’m thinking it’s af but now I’ve read other people’s comments surely my period should be 6 days late not 1 day late if I ovulated 6 days late xx

WhatMe123 · 29/01/2025 17:23

The number of days after ovulation until af arrives is fixed every month and is individual to you so if you ovulated late your af will be late, it's normal to be about 14 days give or take a couple either side after ovulation.

ForumGirlie3 · 29/01/2025 17:39

Yeah I’m so confused too, I haven’t got any spotting but my cycles are usually regular and I’ve read other people’s post about ovulating late and started their AF at the same time each month…

sounds like implementation bleeding, maybe you should take a test?
