Ovulated late and 2 days late for period, am I pregnant? I’m usually on time

My last period was the 30th of December 2024, we are actively trying for a baby so this is our first month of trying. My ovulation sticks literally gave me no indication of when I would be ovulating, usually day 14 on the dot which would have been 12th of January. To my surprise i got EWCM on the 18th of January which means I probably ovulated then. This is 6 days later than expected so I’m not sure why that is as usually I’m so regular, but I was happy I still ovulated. We luckily DTD on Wednesday that week (3 days before), the morning of EWCM (luckily) and the day after. I am now 2 days late on my period, is this because I ovulated later this month or because I might be pregnant? I’m thinking about testing tomorrow which means it will be 11DPO. Fingers crossed for me!

Some people ovulate late and their AF still comes on time. It could be a potential that I’m pregnant but it might not show on the test… right???

are you just going by EWCM to see if you've ovulated? I get EWCM from about 3 days before ovulation but also use the LH strip tests and BBT to confirm I've defo ovulated. If you did indeed ovulate when you had EWCM then 14 days from then is when you would see a positive test hun xx

Yeah I’m so confused too, I haven’t got any spotting but my cycles are usually regular and I’ve read other people’s post about ovulating late and started their AF at the same time each month…

sounds like implementation bleeding, maybe you should take a test?

I bought some tests today but assumed the spotting was af coming, if it doesn’t turn
into af I will test in the morning xx

For most people their luteal phase stays the same each month no matter when they ovulate.

The problem if you ovulate late and get your period at the same time as normal the embryo may not have time to implant before the womb lining sheds. It depends how long your luteal phase is in the first place though.

Until you get your period there’s always a chance you could be pregnant yes. Most people will start to see a positive test around 10-12 days past ovulation. Some people it takes a few days longer. So no matter when you ovulated or are due on your period, you need to count it as days past ovulation. If you get to 14 days past ovulation and you have not started your period then take a test.

It’s turned red, I’m out xx

I only got it for one day so pretty certain I did then… cos it stopped. I DTD on that day, the day after too. I also DTD Wednesday before (4 days before) so I’m hoping it’s survived enough whilst I ovulated! Xx

Did a test and I got a BFN! Did one of those 6 day early ones though. Period is 3 days late now. Will test again at the weekend if it doesn’t arrive. What’s wrong with me!! 😞

As others have said I wouldn’t class yourself as late until you’re 6 days “late”. The same amount of time as your possible late ovulation.

It is possible you just ovulated late this month and so your period is late. Have you done anything different this month? Started taking pre conception vitamins or anything? Some people find they delay ovulation and therefore their periods at first.

Give it 4 more days. If there is still no sign of your period then take a test. You will be officially late at that point.

The only thing I’ve started doing is taking folic acid, so maybe that’s delayed it. Not sure but yeah will test again in 4 days! Thank you

Tested again on Saturday morning and nothing! I’m officially 7 days late tomorrow and I really don’t know what to do!!! I’ve been feeling super cold and napped the last 2 evenings but I don’t know… where the hell is my period? I’m so worried now as usually on time

Unless you ovulated really late, it's starting to sound like a skipped period OP.
If you search online it'll give you loads of reasons why it can happen randomly. It's very normal but so frustrating when TTC

ForumGirlie3 · 03/02/2025 22:07

I had EWCM a week later so ideally due on today but nothing….

You have been ttc for a month, you need to manage your expectations.

Some of us on here will have been trying for 12/24/36 months with no success (just lots of hope and disappointment).

Please just enjoy these first few months of trying before you start worrying about tracking cycles etc. It sounds like you may be having a longer cycle than normal, it'll probably get back on track next month.

Good luck.

Your period could appear any day. Ewcm doesn’t guarantee ovulation or that it occured during/just after. The time I ovulated 6 days late I ovulated quite a few days after the ewcm disappeared and I thought I was dry and it was over. So ewcm doesn’t always mean that you ovulated at that time, I mean most cycles I do but that one it was 3-5 days after I cannot remember exactly how many day it was now.

Nifler · 04/02/2025 21:22

Have you been talking any conception vitamins? I think some of those can cause delay in ovulation for some people

ForumGirlie3 · 06/02/2025 11:09

Completely get it but can’t try this month until my period comes … which is what I’m worried about
