Waiting for the 12 week /dating scan

I was hoping there may be other people that are in the wait for their dating scan and fancy a handhold?!

I have a history of miscarriage, and the days are dragging waiting for the dating scan to come around (people say January already has like 96 days anyway!!!) I keep nearly booking a private scan and then think better of it!

I’m 10+3 and my scan is 2 weeks today

Hi! Congratulations! I’m Also waiting for my dating scan which is on the 5th of Feb. Extremely anxious as well, had an early scan as my periods are extremely irregular, also 9 months postpartum no never really regulated. At my early scan I measured 6 ish weeks, however I am absolutely certain that I conceived on the 11th November! So at my early scan I was expecting to be at least 10 weeks. They basically said either my dates are wrong (which I am certain they aren’t!) or baby is not developing as they should, and to wait for my dating scan! I have had bleeding and spotting over the last 2 months, most recently 3 days ago a huge gush of browny red discharge. I also have absolutely no symptoms, unlike with DD1 where I had HG, extreme fatigue, cramping, migraines, everything !! Super nervous and still another whole week of waiting. I really hope everything is okay for you dx

Hi!! Congratulations all. I’m pregnant with DC3 and due my dating scan this Friday. 12 weeks today but my scan is when I’m 12+5. Good luck all

I paid for a private scan at 7 weeks because I had a previous miscarriage and just couldn't cope with the waiting , is that an option ?

Yep, I’m 9+6 today and had my booking appointment yesterday. Now waiting for a letter to confirm my scan date. The wait is the worst!

It’s so tense isn’t it! I have my 12 week scan on Thursday and I’m really nervous. We had an early scan at 12 weeks and it was all okay, baby was moving around and we heard the heartbeat, but I can’t help but worrying in case anything has happened in tne interim!

Hi, if you have a history of miscarriage the EPU should have taken you under their wing and given you an early scan at 6/7 weeks.

they can be a good source of support and help x

@KRP8 ah that sounds stressful, hoping your dates are just out.. it would make sense that they’re exactly 4 weeks?! Have you been offered any support for the bleeding?

@BackinBlack24 i keep thinking “let’s just book one” and then backtracking. I’ve had a bad experience at a scan before so it’s weighing up how much comfort it will actually bring.. this week I’m sticking to just waiting for the NhS one!

@CandyCane457 seeing baby with HB on a previous scan is always positive, but I totally hear you on the “in the meantime thoughts” (I’ve had some really heavy bleeding so have had a couple of nhs ones already - the last was at 9 weeks and my brain is constantly trying to convince me somethings happened since). Hi again OP! Hope all has gone well with your scan? Mine is today, have had on and off spotting all week and not a single pregnancy symptom still which is worlds apart from my first pregnancy!

Hope all goes well at your scan today and you don’t have too long to wait. Spotting is never nice to see in pregnancy, but fingers crossed for you that all is well 🤞🏻

I'm going tomorrow for my second '12 week scan' I'll be 13+2. I went for one at 11+1 (sent me too early due to a long cycle). Bubs was fine at that point but it was too soon to do the screening measurements so back I go.

Even having seen them once I get nervous again. I'm going without my partner too this time because he's looking after our LO and we didn't want to push the date back any further.

Hoping for good news and a clearer scan picture 😊

@JuneySunshine ah good luck for tomorrow, they grow loads in one week at this point don’t they so hopefully you’ll have that nice clear scan. Hopefully it’s not too nerve wrecking for you going it solo xx

Hi... yes, I'm in the same boat. Have my dating scan next Tue (11th) when I'll be 13+2. I'm older and have had losses and an ectopic so my mind keeps drifting to missed miscarriages or test results coming back high risk for something. I had a scan at 6 weeks to make sure it wasn't ectopic again, and all was well then, but I'm desperate to get this scan done next week and hopefully feel some reassurance.

I'm never usually an anxious person but this pregnancy has got me fretting constantly. I have a 4 yo and I was so much more laid back in that pregnancy. I guess part of it is because this is definitely our last shot at this, part is because I know how easily things can go wrong. I'm hoping I'll feel much better after the scan next week.

Had my scan today. It’s TWINS! I’m absolutely terrified, 12 weeks and 2 days with zero symptoms, flat stomach, and 2 BABIES COOKING!! Nervous does not begin to explain how I am feeling right now, for a surprise pregnancy at 9 months post partum twins was absolutely not what I expected at all! 3 under 2🫣

@DejaMooo I’m same as you and pre recurrent pregnancy loss didn’t get anxious, now I’m not sure when i’ll relax and can’t convince myself anything is going to be a positive outcome because of the learned experience. Sending love, it’s really hard isn’t it because the stakes are so high! Hopefully we both have a positive scan next Tuesday and smooth pregnancies after 🤞🏻

Update: all went well with me today. A notably bouncy baby measuring 13+2 all as expected 😊

Jumping on this thread a little late. I'm currently 11w0d and I've not yet had my growth scan booking and it's causing me so much stress!!

When did you all get your bookings through? I've been chasing the hospital for the last week as I feel like I will feel better when I have a date in because this wait is awful!
