Hello All

Sorry this is probably going to be a long post. Seriously unexpected situation right now.

So for context in July I found out that I had PCOS on top of having endometriosis. The doctors basically told me that there is not a cats chance in hell that I would be able to get pregnant until i lost weight. So we didn't really think about it.

On top of that I have not had an AF since the start of April which is what led to the PCOS diagnosis.
So since October I have been having the sensation that I have pulled some tummy muscles. Really painful whenever I move. Plus my bladder has been weird and I have been having accidents whenever I cough or laugh.

My OH finally forced me to contact the doctors and I went for an appointment yesterday afternoon.
I was fully expecting them to say my weight is a problem and I possibly had a bladder infection.

How wrong I was. 3 positive tests and a high blood pressure later I am blue lighted up to the nearest hospital.

They need an emergency doctor scan to check everything was okay. Heard heartbeat and then told oh you are looking to be around 28 to 30 weeks pregnant. I have now spent the night in hospital with a more thorough scan, bloods and everything else booked for today.

So yeah both me and my OH are freaking out and I have no idea what to think right now.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Oh wow!!! A Christmas miracle indeed!! Advice… erm, babies don’t really NEED that much so don’t worry about not having anything. Amazon can send you a car seat and bassinets or crib for now plus bedding. Supermarkets sell clothes and maybe read up on breastfeeding so all that is sorted too then you’re good to go. Has the blood pressure been checked and are they happy you’re not getting pre-eclampsia?
What a shock though… amazing tale to tell though!! I hope you keep well and bake that baby a wee bit longer to give you some time to get used to being a mummy!!

Oh wow, that must be a roller coaster of feelings! All of them are valid. Don't worry about the past 28 weeks. Give yourself a few days to get your head around it and that get into planning mode. May I say congratulations?

Starlight40 · 24/12/2024 08:17

Wow! Congratulations. What a Christmas present.x

Namechangedforspooky · 24/12/2024 08:18

Congratulations OP! I hope the rest of the pregnancy is uneventful. What a wonderful Christmas surprise! X

gills22 · 24/12/2024 08:19

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. It does feel like a Christmas miracle but just had a hell of a shock. I hope so to as I could not cope with that right now. Thankfully my OH and his family are super supportive which is amazing.

So they took bloods at 3am this morning to test for the Preeclampsia just waiting for the results and to see somebody about what happens now. My blood pressure has gone down to a normal range overnight after then gave .s some tablets

Turns out somebody is a wriggly pain in the bum and so they cannot be 100% sure on the gestational age. Hence the more thorough scan today.

What a shock for you!

Very exciting though, congratulations

GrumpyCactus · 24/12/2024 08:42

Wow what a brilliant surprise! I bet your friends and family will be over the moon for you, although word of caution it will make all other gifts you've brought them this year and in future years look a bit meh in comparison. 😂

MrsWhites · 24/12/2024 08:45

Miracles by their very nature are shocking so give yourself some time to get used to the idea, it’s totally normal to be anxious and shocked in this kind of situation.

But huge congratulations, this post really made me smile this morning.

Although I imagine, quite stressful, how wonderful to have such a short wait now until you meet your baby!

Don’t get dragged into believing that babies need all kinds of paraphernalia - they literally need a source of food, somewhere to safely sleep, nappies etc, warm clothes/blankets, car seat and a pram. Everything else is an add on!

WearyAuldWumman · 24/12/2024 08:47

A lovely Christmas miracle. :)

Oh wow, what a story to tell your little Christmas miracle in the future!
I hope everything is okay, that you enjoy seeing your baby on a scan today, and take it easy- everything you need can be delivered next day if you need it desperately, what really matters is that you're both healthy and safe. Congratulations!
