Brown bleeding when wiping

Hi guys!
I found out I was pregnant yesterday and I am currently 4 weeks and 1/2 days pregnant. As I found out, I got brown bleeding but it's very minimal and now it's only when I wipe. I have lots of other pregnancy symptoms but I'm just so anxious because they can't scan me until I'm 6 weeks because they just won't see anything. How did you guys stop yourself panicking about it so much? I'm terrified of miscarrying

I haven't had any blood at all personally however know a few people who have. Brown blood is usually old blood so that's a good sign atleast!

TTCBabyHoward · 26/11/2024 22:27

@anonny55 It makes me feel so much better just hearing stuff like that. I really hate being this anxious as I feel like I just can't get excited because of the "what if" 😮‍💨 If my lines keep getting darker and this brown bleeding stops it'll put my mind at ease - early pregnancy is such a waiting game 😂 xx

@TTCBabyHoward I remember those days..I'm nearly in my 3rd trimester but bloody hell the constant stress!! I didn't get excited until 24 weeks as was always just thinking the worse but everything's been fine so far..it gets exhausting worrying so much!! Xx

worriedmindd · 26/11/2024 22:36

In my first pregnancy I had pink/red bleeding very early on and was convinced it was bad news but all was fine. I'm currently pregnant with my second and again had some bleeding early on, was brown spotting like yours and had me panicking but again all was fine and I'm currently in my third trimester. I think it's more common than you realise but still so stressful as it's so early and all you can do is wait. Hopefully they scan you at 6 weeks and will be able to reassure you :)

TTCBabyHoward · 26/11/2024 22:37

@anonny55 It really is exhausting - I'm so grateful for this pregnancy but I do wish I found out a bit later on so more could be done from a medical standpoint 😂 The worrying is rough 😮‍💨 xx

@worriedmindd It's so scary isn't it! I've been told multiple times it's considered normal and it's only abnormal if it's accompanied by severe abdominal pain and your bleeding through pads which I'm definitely not but it's just so scary 🥲 I'll be 5 weeks on Sunday and then one more week until I'm basically going to beg for a scan 🤣 My midwife has contacted me already and I have a booking appointment in 3 weeks time but I definitely need a scan at 6 weeks to put my mind at ease 😂 xx

So for me brown bleeding was always bad news and both pregnancies that I had it ended in MMC.

BUT I also know lots of people who had bleeding and everything was fine ❤️

I was always told bleeding in pregnancy isn't normal so should always be checked but it is common.

I really hope everything turns out well for you OP! Try to keep positive :)

LolaJ87 · 27/11/2024 10:19

@TTCBabyHoward I had this on my first pregnancy at 4, 6 and 9 weeks pregnant, and there was no issue, my son arrived well and healthy.

I've also had it this time, still not nice to see but I'm hopeful it'll similarly be fine. Come join us on the August 2025 due dates thread if you haven't already? I'm a day ahead of you and will be 5 weeks on Saturday!

TTCBabyHoward · 27/11/2024 10:27

@LolaJ87 That definitely makes me feel a lot better! I'd love to join the thread!! I'm not very sure how though haha x

Hi @TTCBabyHoward

I’m in the exact same position as you, I am currently 4 weeks and 3 days and I’m having the same problem at the moment with brown spotting when wiping/going to the toilet. It is making me worry sick because like you said we can’t be scanned until 6 weeks 😫

I am trying to be positive though as I’ve put a pad on as precaution and nothing has filled on that and I have no cramping etc.

how are you feeling today?

TTCBabyHoward · 27/11/2024 16:08

@RachelJay16 - It's really scary isn't it? 🥲 I'm feeling pretty positive - the brown spotting is definitely subsiding and I also put a pad in as a precaution and it's not filled it or anything like that. Barely anything on it if anything at all! I've been told brown bleeding is good because it's just old blood (probably from implantation aggravation) making its way down and out 😮‍💨 We just need to keep praying and manifesting haha! I've got lots of other symptoms too so just trying to stay positive 🤞🏻✨

How are you feeling?? x

I had brown bleeding at around 5 weeks. It subsided and all was well - baby is now 17 and 6 ft 2!

mewkins · 27/11/2024 16:14

I've had one mc and two healthy children and experienced bleeding (including full on bleeding!) with all. With my son, there was lots but once it stopped (maybe a week later) I still felt pregnant. Anyway is now a strapping 10 year old boy. Sending lots of positivity your way xx

Honestly I have never been so anxious before. I feel a bit more positive we are have had the same issues though, kind of makes me feel a bit more positive 🤞🏼.

yeah me too! I have tender breasts and I’ve started feeling a bit sick today/had heart burn a few times so again trying to take these as positives!!

have you booked an early reassurance scan or anything? Xx

TTCBabyHoward · 27/11/2024 16:53

@RachelJay16 Yeah it makes me feel better knowing people are having similar experiences too! 🥹 I have the same symptoms as you other than heartburn and I've had chapped lips (which is one apparently) and quite frequent bathroom trips 🤣

I have got a booking appointment on the 19th December but as soon as I reach 6 weeks I'm going to self refer to the early pregnancy unit near me and practically beg for an early scan 😂 If they don't then I will be getting a private one xx

Omg yessss I’ve had the chapped lips too but I had that last week and kept thinking why are my lips so dry 😅😂

ah you will have to let me know how you get on!! I’ve got a private one booked for 16th December as I should be 7 weeks by then! X

TTCBabyHoward · 27/11/2024 18:04

@RachelJay16 Haha it's because baby needs hydration so even though I'm drinking so much water - they have stolen moisture from our lips 😂

I'm definitely going to try and get a scan when I hit 6 weeks because I've got really bad anxiety at the moment and I just want to make sure they're healthy and viable and fine 😮‍💨 xx

Of course I will and likewise! I’m just so worried though as I’m still getting browny discharge not loads but today I had a small amount on a pad 😩😩 just hoping for a positive outcome! 🤞🏼 xx

TTCBabyHoward · 28/11/2024 15:35

@RachelJay16 Im hoping too! Mines luckily eased up now and I hope yours does too - these first few weeks before the first scan are so ridiculously scary but we can support each other at least! xx

I ended up having to go for an early scan on Saturday as I was still bleeding last week. Was confirmed I am having a miscarriage! Absolutely gutted 😢 hope everything is going well for you 🤞🏼 xxx

TTCBabyHoward · 13/12/2024 08:12

@RachelJay16 I'm so sorry to hear that lovely! My heart hurts for you. I've had an early scan too but I am measuring a week behind so I have another on Christmas eve to see if they're developing or not. Sending all my love and I hope you're doing as well as you can be x
