I think we might be in this situation next week. It’s all so nerve wracking not knowing isn’t it. Look forward to hearing how you get on - hopefully a decent plan in place after today 🤞

Do you have a big baby/ reasons for extra scans? It is nerve wracking I agree, still waiting for the call today to get my date🥲

My first 2 were both born breech vaginally (planned) ❤️ Tried ECV with both but it didn't work, they just wouldn't turn. Is this your first? This one (my 3rd) was also breech until beginning of this week 🥳 So hoping I can make it another week or 2 head down then there's less chance of them moving back to being breech again 🤞 Let me know if you have any questions, i'll do my best to help where I can ❤️

Thank you for your reply! That's great you had your planned births and great to hear number three is head down!
I had an ECV and it was successful, also over with in less than a minute (!? 😲), but I'm convinced they've turned back round. I feel like I know what I'm feeling at this point...
Been a hectic week but was planning on messaging you privately with a few questions. ☺️

BrightGoose · 17/04/2025 17:05

@WildWhirlwind what can you feel that makes you think baby is breech, I also think my baby is breech and midwife wasn’t convinced either way. I just have a really hard lump at the top of my bump but lots of movements at the top and bottom too the feeling I get at the top is like a pushing sensation.

WildWhirlwind · 17/04/2025 19:06

@BrightGoose exactly that - a hard lump at the top is what I've had the whole time, so I was referred for a scan as the midwife couldn't tell. They found that they're sometimes in frank breech, sometimes incomplete, which means I've felt movements/kicks everywhere!
Since the ECV I feel a hard lump at the top again and lots of readjusting and movements in the same places as before. Before leaving the midwife reassured me it was their bum but I feel like I just know? If they turned that easily in the ECV maybe they are turning back by themself that easily? Feels like the baby is stretching, pushing, it sounds similar to your situation!

Fantastic news!! Fingers crossed baby keeps the memo now and stays head down 🤞🤞🤞
Feel free to message if you still feel like you want to/need to ❤️
I keep flitting between feeling like baby has gone back head up and it still head down 🤦‍♀️🤣 The lump at the top of my bump defo feels 'softer' than it did before what I think was baby turning itself round and having head down confirmed on a scan so assuming that's it's bum 🤣

I'm 35+3 today and bump is feeling SO stretched!

BrightGoose · 17/04/2025 20:24

Yes I think I just kind of know that she’s not in the right position I do still have time I’m 34 +3 but I’m pushing for a trail of labour for a vba2cs so it would be so funny if she’s breech and I need a section for that after all the fuss I’ve made of trying for a vbac 🤣. My other two were defo head down and engaged by this point and me being so small I fell like if she’s not turned now she won’t have room too.

I also feel very very stretch so uncomfortable

Oh nooo 🙈🤣 I keep getting told not to worry because they still have room til 36-37 weeks but after that there's much less chance of them being able to turn up or down so hopefully she sorts herself out ready for your vba2c before then if she's breech 🙄🤣

It's weird coz some days I feel reeeally stretched but some days I don't feel pregnant til I look down and see the bump 🤣 I also feel like sometimes baby's in an awkward position where they feel like they're reeeally sticking/pushing but other times I have to press around the find them. It's so strange, even on my 3rd!

WildWhirlwind · 17/04/2025 23:10

I'm 37 weeks so feeling the pressure for them to turn ASAP!

The hiccups thing is confusing me as well, I really do feel them in my pelvis but then sometimes near that hard lump (a.k.a. head) - I'm thinking... Can this baby really be flipping on a daily basis!? I guess hiccups cause a reverberation but I wish it was a sure way of telling the baby's position. Might just invest in a full scanning system for next pregnancy!

Very big baby. Last scan was 36+1 with estimated weight of 7’15. I got a call today to say they didn’t want me far past 39 weeks. They’re too full to book me in for then though so provisionally booked for 39+2 dependant on results of next week’s scan.

That’s what they’ve said for me today, my induction is provisionally booked for Wednesday which makes me 38+2.. although if it’s any help they have stressed the scans are 15% inaccurate which definitely makes me feel slightly better😂my consultant keeps stressing shoulder dystocia though which is concerning me

BrightGoose · 18/04/2025 06:30

@LozC0411 aww you might be the first one to have baby in arms !

@WildWhirlwind the hiccups I also feel at the top and at the bottom but like you say when someone hiccups often all of your body moves so I don’t know. I guess time will tell

This is exactly the chat i had today except the registrar called me and launched into all these things that “would” happen! I had to stop her and say “sorry, is this the risks of full term you’re going over” 🙈🙈

wow so 38 weeks. I didn’t think they pushed for it that early but that’s great that they’re being so proactive. There’s still time for that to happen to me at my scan on (Wednesday funnily enough) I’m a little concerned that they’re so keen for 39 weeks, essentially reading me the riot act and then seemingly quite chill that they just can’t fit me in 🙄

Herewegoagain8 · 18/04/2025 10:21

@LozC0411 ooh not long to go now. I’ve got my induction booked for a week on Sunday and really hoping I don’t go naturally before then as we’ve just moved house and got a decorator booked for next week. I’m also so uncomfortable though and can’t wait for it to be over. Dreading going back to doing the school run next week after Easter.

Anyone else been given a date for induction soon?

Yeah they really go deep into the risks, I told the doctor who called that shoulder dystocia has been mentioned numerous times in great detail now😂
They originally wanted to induce me from 39 weeks, that was until my scan on Wednesday… He is fully head down and all healthy but his growth has shot right up since they last scanned him.
hopefully your scan on Wednesday goes all well and you get a positive result from it!

microwoods · 18/04/2025 13:27

It’s a bit disheartening to read that there’s so much pressure being put on women for inductions! It seems to be really common. I have a growth scan booked in for Friday and my midwife has already warned me multiple times that they might want to induce me, even though she has no reason to think that because growth was fine at the 30 week scan and there is no other (known) complications.

At my 37 week scan last time they said they wanted to induce me at 38 weeks because there was some resistance in the blood flow, yet growth was fine and baby was fine. Luckily I went into spontaneous labour a few days later.

It’s so hard to know what the right thing to do is when there’s so much pressure for intervention!

I think for me personally I would prefer an induction in my scenario, I’m already in so much pain due to how big my bump is and I do want to see if I can try minimise the risk of his shoulder getting stuck the longer I leave it… however I do agree that inductions are pushed on so many people even if not necessary, they gave me the option and I went for an induction but I do think if I chose otherwise it would’ve been pushed on me as well

Herewegoagain8 · 18/04/2025 15:34

@microwoods i would say there’s no pressure been put on me at all. I’m 40 and they recommend induction at term at my age (or offer extra monitoring if you’re happy to go over) but regardless of that I would have requested induction as I did with my dd due to several previous late losses, my induction is due to my own anxiety and I’m grateful my trust are supportive. They were happy to induce me at 39 weeks but I chose to go to 40 and they were fine with that.

microwoods · 18/04/2025 16:01

Fair enough @LozC0411and @Herewegoagain8I think it’s excellent if they’re listening to your choices and supporting you! When @LozC0411was saying that they were labouring the point about shoulder dystocia I got the vibe that they were putting the pressure on.

I just really don’t want to induced if I can avoid it because I can’t stand the thought of being on the ward for days on end with my toddler at home, I’ve never spent a night away from her! And I think just because I’m consultant led (due to raised BMI) they’re going to try and push me in that direction without any real medical need. Hoping I can just be left alone to go into labour spontaneously again! X

Herewegoagain8 · 18/04/2025 17:54

@microwoods they should leave the choice to you, they can’t make you be induced if you don’t want that. I was the same about leaving my first and didn’t want to be away from him for days on end. Luckily I knew when I went in that they only needed to break my waters so it should be pretty quick as midwife confirmed I was already 2cm at an examination a few days before.

My hospital also let me go home when it became obvious there was a bit of a wait so I went home and put my toddler to bed before they called me back in when they were less busy. My induced labour was also far quicker than my spontaneous first and I was in and out of hospital and back to my toddler much quicker than I expected.

All that being said they hopefully would support you in waiting for spontaneous labour if that’s what you want.

37+3 and I think I'm having some Braxton hicks, plus the baby is super wriggly. Been kicking for nearly 2 hours which I feel is unusual.

I never had this with my first so idk if I should be worried or just ignore it? The movements are not frantic or anything, just going on for longer than usual. I've also been feeling sick, but I did have a greasy lunch so it could just be that.

With my first I was induced and ended up with an EMCS so going for ELCS this time on 1st May - 12 days to go!

I haven't eaten anything since lunch and now dithering about what to do. I've been told that if I go into labour to stop eating and drinking immediately (even water 🫠) but I'm 90% sure this isn't real labour. I don't want to call triage and get stuck in the hospital for no reason on a bank holiday 😬

Hey I had two hours of contractions last Friday, and about 40 minuets of them on Wednesday night. Both times baby was very wriggly and the first time I felt really nauseous. Both times they were regular straight away but tapered off.

When I called triage they advised me to take two paracetamol and have a hot bath. I said they weren’t painful enough for paracetamol but the midwife said that pain relief can stop them in their tracks, apparently it’s the first thing they try if you go in in pre-term labour (except with codeine).

I didn’t bother calling the second time. I think it’s just going to come and go until baby arrives now but this is how my sister didn’t realise she was in labour and had her second baby at home by accident with only her husband to catch! x

LeBonBon · 18/04/2025 20:54

@microwoods and @TheBeesKnee what is the difference between Braxton Hicks and normal early contractions?

I honestly didn't gave a single hick or contraction during my first pregnancy so I have no idea what I'm looking out for!

The last 2-3 days I have felt quite intense periods of activity - feels like baby is moving lots/kicking but also a bit different like it could be the muscles around? And all over my bump. Doesn't last long but it's definitely different than before.

It is surprising how many of us get induced. They were all for inducing me early until this latest scan but now I've got a week's wait for the repeat GTT and nearly 1.5 weeks until the next growth scan. It's so funny how the consultants are always "worried" and asking pregnant women to come in for this and that, and yet the appointments are never actually urgent.

The irony if baby comes before either of these appointments! I've got a bet on with DH that he will.

TheBeesKnee · 18/04/2025 20:58

@LeBonBon labour contractions tend to be spaced consistently apart (e.g. 5 mins) and pains last a consistent amount of time (e.g. 60 seconds) and get closer together over time as well as more painful/intense.

BH are much more random, and don't tend to get worse.

For me, braxton hicks are tightenings of my tummy. They aren’t painful or regular and they stop if I get up and move around. My tummy goes really hard and changes shape to look more egg-shaped. I only got them right at the end with my last pregnancy and it’s been the same this time. They seem quite random!

The stop/start contractions are painful (not very- on the mild side) and I feel them in my back. They are regular as soon as they start (I have a timer app to track them) and they don’t stop with me moving/changing position. They feel exactly how my first contractions started last time, all my contraction pain was in my back! X

BrightGoose · 18/04/2025 21:05

When I had my second I didn’t realise I was in labour, just every time I stood up I kept contracting and my tummy was super hard but I had regular braxton hicks that didn’t feel any different so I really couldn’t tell. I only got checked out because my husband insisted and I was due bloods anyway, had a trace could see I was contracting but not very regular, only 1cm dilated but they couldn’t really tell so said I could stay in or go home. Didn’t have a transport at the time so I stayed in. Texted my husband at 10pm saying think it was a false alarm until I woke up at 1am and was 5cm and I DEFO new it was labour then. Lucky they was able to do my section and I was at the hospital, no idea what I would have done if I was at home plus it was covid!
