Haha I'd heard that about baby being hairy @retrievermum! Hopefully the little guy comes out with a lovely wee mop 😂

retrievermum · 11/12/2024 11:33

@superj21 we’ll have to conduct a poll when they’re all here! Who had acid reflux and a hairy baby vs who didn’t and got a bald one! 😂

elb1504 · 11/12/2024 11:34

Currently waiting in triage due to reduced movements, baby is normally very active so being checked out as she's not moved no where near as much. Got so much going on currently i don't know if I'm coming or going!

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 11/12/2024 11:46

@retrievermum I’m expecting a very bald baby, as I’ve had minimal acid reflux (so far!) 😂

Oh no! Hope she’s just being difficult and she’ll move as soon as the monitor goes on 🤞

retrievermum · 11/12/2024 12:14

@EastLondonCoffeeFiend I’ve probably stunted any hair growth by overdosing on omeprazole all pregnancy 😂 although last time every time I had a scan they mentioned DD had a lot of hair, and there’s been none of that this time so it looks like I’m producing a little egg head baby too!

MyHappyNewt · 11/12/2024 12:29

Currently waiting for blood test results to see if I’m already immune to parvovirus b19 (slapped cheek) as my 3 year old is suspected to have it at the moment 😞

The risks are meant to be lower in the third tri but I’m still stressing out…

UrbanSquirrel · 11/12/2024 12:39

Enjoying all the omeprazole chat this morning! 😂 Looking forward to the 'hairy baby competition' too...

@elb1504 Hope you get seen and reassured very soon. The babies seem to know exactly how to wind us up, don't they? Hopefully you'll have the same experience as @OrangeSlices998 and, as soon as they loop you up to the machines, the baby will start performing a mini-Olympics...

@MyHappyNewt Oh good luck, that sounds nasty. Keeping fingers crossed that you do turn out to be immune, and that your toddler gets better very quickly.

@QuantumPanic My eyes are watering on your behalf... ouch!

How are you both doing?

@retrievermum I know anecdotally heartburn is associated with loads of hair but my son was bald as a coot and I had THE WORST heartburn with him! My daughter had so much hair it was noted on scan!

elb1504 · 11/12/2024 13:45

Baby took a while to liven up but at the end of hour on the CTG she was wiggling all over the place. They're getting me in for a scan too shortly just to check everything over, so currently hanging around eating a crappy hospital lunch!

BusyTiger · 11/12/2024 14:14

I can't tell if I'm being overly sensitive possibly due to hormones etc but my partner really upset me last night. I was complaining to him about how my boobs have looked in pregnancy and I asked him if he found me attractive and he said "sometimes"(!) I wasn't expecting him to say I'm sex on legs or anything but it really hurt my feelings, I'm not the most confident with my looks anyway so think this has just knocked me a bit especially with being pregnant too. I couldn't talk to him about it last night or this morning as I was so upset but will obviously speak to him later and he has apologised, he is generally a lovely partner but does sometimes say things without thinking that can upset me

Glad they're checking you over fully! These babies like to keep us on our toes already!

superj21 · 11/12/2024 14:51

Glad to hear baby got moving @elb1504 !

I had a scan today to check my placenta (still low) but was nice to see baby again. He's measuring 64th percentile, 3lbs 12oz (31+2), apart from his legs which are 98th percentile 🤣 taking after his daddy who is 6"4.

@BusyTiger I don't think you're being over sensitive, I think it was a very insensitive thing of your partner to say. I don't think they appreciate or understand how difficult it can be for us having our bodies change so drastically / be taken over by a tiny human. Sending hugs!

QuantumPanic · 11/12/2024 14:54

@elb1504 phew! Glad you felt something and that you're getting a scan, too. It's so scary when they stop squirming, isn't it? I was searching for portable ultrasound machines on eBay the other day. It would be great to be able to see what's going on in there.

My baby has been quieter the last few days (cervix punch excepted), but I think it's because she has turned head down! She was previously transverse, but I've been (inconsistently) doing the spinning babies inverted sofa drape (or whatever it's called) and am now pretty positive she's facing the right way. The (fairly large!) lump of her bum is sitting just below my ribs and wriggles in discontent whenever I poke it.

QuantumPanic · 11/12/2024 15:02

@BusyTiger It does sound like he spoke without thinking and obviously he can't realise how weird it is to have your body change so drastically when growing a baby. Whenever my partner sees me without a t-shirt he feels compelled to say, "wow, you're huge!" 😂 I've explained that I'm the only one who gets to comment on my hugeness, actually - but he can't help himself!

UrbanSquirrel · 11/12/2024 16:11

@elb1504 So glad to hear she perked up! And an extra scan too - that has to be a bonus, despite the rubbish food, right? 😉

@BusyTiger No you're not being hormonal - that was an insensitive thing to say, but I wonder if it was a joke or a thoughtless comment that fell flat. Try not to take it to heart. Like others have said, I don't think our partners quite know how to deal with the physical changes. Whenever I'm trying to get into my pillow fort at night, DH has a habit of saying things like, "Heave-ho! - The QE2 is coming into dock!" - which is, y'know, helpful...

All was good just spent a lot of the day at the hospital but feel much better. Baby is breech which i assumed from the movements anyway so more time on my birth ball I think although she's been breech since 20 week scan! She's on 40th Percentile and weighs roughly 4lbs11 at 33 weeks. Was lovely to have a scan too as I hadn't got any additional ones planned.

They do like to keep us on our toes don't they!

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 10/12/2024 07:37

Yes me too- so tough isn’t it!!

Yes 😓 wait what does the girdle pain feel like is it more in the hips? I've had that some of the time but then more of the uterus pains. I was stuck on my landing for about 20 minutes yesterday wondering if I'd be able to get to work or need to go to the MAU, I had it more mildly today at my desk after the kids went home (school). If I have it severely again I will follow advice on here and ask to be checked out anyway but DH suggested we pack my hospital bag now just in case.

Can't believe I've signed myself up to work until 7th Feb! But then I wanted more time with the baby and it's not looking good in terms of mat cover, they've only just advertised my role and have had to cancel an interview day this week coming because there were no suitable candidates so I feel guilty (plus keep having time out for medical appointments).

ridl14 · 11/12/2024 18:17

TTCagain85 · 10/12/2024 08:31

Yes, starting to struggle! I always do just before holidays...now compounded by being 31 weeks.

Sorry if TMI....does anyone else feel they smell really pissy 😐 don't remember this with my first previous pregnancies. Obs my pelvic floor is under immense pressure...I wear tena panty liners by day but don't wear pants with pj's. My pj's stink, even aftwr washing with white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. I've also tried odor release detergent. I've thrown some pairs out 🤢

I hate it 😓 I'm not so worried about smell but I'm having to use tissue every day as have been leaking since probably 16 weeks. I had a midwife tell me the other day when I phoned the MAU that I was too young for stress incontinence which I felt quite bad about tbh but everyone else I've asked about it has said it's normal. But I feel very gross and unsexy.

Still attempting to do my kegels but I'm so unconvinced they're doing anything! And I'm worried it will be worse postpartum if I'm leaking a bit already and with my first

ridl14 · 11/12/2024 18:27

retrievermum · 10/12/2024 13:01

32+3 here and feel like I’ve got a bowling ball between my legs, and getting braxton hicks every time I walk more than about four metres! Struggling a bit with pelvic pain this time around too, although that is probably exacerbated by lugging around a toddler!

Anyone else getting pins and needles in their hands? It’s waking me up in the night!

Not in my hands but really in my legs - is anyone else finding their legs feel really restless as well as crampy?

I'm also soo cold 🥶 I made a hot water bottle the other day just for my chest and legs so nowhere near my stomach but I was so chilly!

Oh gosh @QuantumPanic I wasn't struggling with much indigestion before then it suddenly hit with a major vengeance last week? I was frantically googling how many Gaviscon tablets you can have a day while pregnant - urgent 😂 my friend said she ended up drinking it from the bottle hers got so bad.

@superj21 @retrievermum that's hilarious about the hairy baby link! Maybe mine has just sprouted his 😂

Redapple21 · 11/12/2024 18:27

@elb1504 glad all was well with the baby and lovely to have an extra scan 🥰

@ridl14 oh bless you, I'm also a teacher and absolutely exhausted now. Don't feel guilty though about school, ultimately if they haven't arranged cover in time that is their problem and in no way your fault. I assume they've known for a while? Just look after yourself and leave them to sort it.

A few mentions of wee and pelvic floor has prompted me to say, after my episiotomy and forceps delivery with my son, I was so shocked and scared at how weak my pelvic floor was. I remember crying in the hospital thinking I was incontinent! No one had ever told me how weak it can be after birth. Anyway I did lots of squeezes using the nhs squeezy app and it did get a lot better as the weeks went on. Just wanted to mention it in case it happens to anyone else and they get the same fright! The squeezes really do help.

elb1504 · 11/12/2024 18:33

@ridl14 Yes to the crampy restless legs, I had them a while ago then they seemed to ease but last few days they seem to be back. I had calf cramp that ended up with muscle ache for days! I've got some magnesium spray for before bed which seems to help.

OnePinkSloth · 11/12/2024 19:31

UrbanSquirrel · 09/12/2024 13:01

Good luck with the scan and the consultant, @OnePinkSloth! Fingers crossed you'll be able to clarify what you want re. birth plan. I'm impressed actually that several of the gang here are seeing consultants so soon. I have to wait until week 37, which makes me rather nervous as MiniSquirrel could well rock up within a week or so of that, thanks to the GD. Eek!

Let us know how it goes! x

Sorry for late update, but feeling a little overwhelmed since my consultation on Monday afternoon!

Baby is measuring in the 97th percentile and I'm only 32wks!!
Got to have another glucose test to check for GD again😕
As to birth plan, this has put a different light on it as I'm thinking about how I want to deliver my chonker!!
Got another growth scan booked for 36wks and we'll see then.
Most likely will be induced early (Mum was induced for two of hers and she got on well, so I'm open to the idea) unless baby is so huge that I won't risk it getting stuck so Csection it will be😬
I'm very grateful they're keeping an eye on things and being thorough.

BusyTiger · 11/12/2024 20:05

@superj21 @QuantumPanic @UrbanSquirrel

Thank you! We had a good talk this evening and he gets why I was upset and was very apologetic!

Piluka · 11/12/2024 20:49

Glad to have time to catch up.

@UrbanSquirrel i'm so happy/gealous of your early Mat leave! I'll have mine at the 17th of Jan. Soon but not as soon as yours. I'm honestly glad for you! BTW, my SIL is called Beatriz (Beatrice in Spanish) I think is a lovely name. 😊

About wees. I started with the floor pelvic squeezes during my second trim recommended by a friend of mine who's a mum already. And she mention to squeeze each time I'm going to sneeze or cough. Actually helps. I need to start the other exercises to soften the area where the baby would come as my friend said that helped her to have less stitches and recover her pelvic floor faster.

I have another growth scan next Monday and the baby was 92 last time so I'm a bit worried she's gonna be a mahoosive baby. (I was born over the 4.5kg, so we have an antecedent of big babya. My poor mum didn't had the choice of a C section and her hip was out of place. She couldn't move for an entire month.) so, I empathise with all of you that the baby is on the big dimensions (we'll see mine). At least we're offered a C section to avoid struggling. 😊

Talking about visitors, I'll have my mum living with us for a month and a half to help and my in laws still not sure. As both our families are from Spain we must offer home as a place to stay and tbh I don' t feel comfortable to have my in laws at home during this time. But it would be taking a great offence if I tell them to go on a hotel or something under those lines. I don't mind my mum as she going to be super supportive and we have a very good relationship.... Not the same with in laws (a polite relationship, nothing more) and my Mil she's very bossy in general... 😥

I'm glad to read all of you with slow movements ended up being nothing to worry about. Honestly, I'm supper happy for you! Sometimes I'm worried to, but the she's hungry and starts kicking around. I have to say that her pattern changed a tiny bit from being bridged to moved upside down. Now she kicks more to the front (I've anterior placenta so not always feel her kicks) and less on the sides. But when she kicks... Good God! She kicks as a profesional footballer.

Sorry to hear about the partners who say things without thinking. That the last we need in these months. I feel like a disable whale on high heels (specially at the end of the day) and I don't need someone who's never be in my situation telling me crapy s*ht, even though they didn't mean to say so.... But C'mon man! Think twice, speak once.
