Yes 😓 wait what does the girdle pain feel like is it more in the hips? I've had that some of the time but then more of the uterus pains. I was stuck on my landing for about 20 minutes yesterday wondering if I'd be able to get to work or need to go to the MAU, I had it more mildly today at my desk after the kids went home (school). If I have it severely again I will follow advice on here and ask to be checked out anyway but DH suggested we pack my hospital bag now just in case.

Can't believe I've signed myself up to work until 7th Feb! But then I wanted more time with the baby and it's not looking good in terms of mat cover, they've only just advertised my role and have had to cancel an interview day this week coming because there were no suitable candidates so I feel guilty (plus keep having time out for medical appointments).

This isn’t your problem! If you need/want to finish earlier you’re entitled and they’ll have to find a solution. It’s not like the length of pregnancy is a mystery 🙄 Please don’t keep working if you don’t want to, none of us are irreplaceable (but rest is key!)

Pcosdegallo · 12/12/2024 03:25

Hello... Long time lurker since my last post in my first trimester. Baby cooking away nicely and due 7th Feb.

The insomnia has gotten so bad of late (as I type this at 3am) and ready to be finished working but unfortunately not finishing until January.

Enjoying the solidarity of the pee leakage - thought I was the only one.

Has nesting kicked in yet for anyone? Not so much tidiness for me more that I want to scrub everything in sight Blush

herewegoagain123456 · 12/12/2024 06:57

I am very jealous of everyone finishing for mat leave. I finish on the 7th of Feb also.
However come next Friday I do have 2 weeks off for Xmas which I'm.very excited about.
I'm a beauty therapist and massage and waxing are getting very difficult but I run my own business so can't afford to turn down anyone at the moment.

I'm also in the reduced changed movement club and went down last night, glad I did as they said never worry about coming in but I have put it of a few times as didn't want to be a drama queen.

The leaks of wee club here too, but normally only when I sneeze, this is my third baby though so very worried about the state of my pelvic floor after this birth. The midwifes recommended the squeezy app, so downloaded that last night as apparently stronger pelvic floor can help with child birth. Well fingers crossed. 🤞🏽

To the people suffering with pelvic pain, this was me. Couldn't walk some days I was in so much pain. I go to the gym daily and since starting adductor strengthening exercises the pain has basically gone. Highly recommend.

I feel awful but who was the last that has leaking waters? Have we heard from her? I might of missed it but was wondering how she was getting on

UrbanSquirrel · 12/12/2024 07:45

@herewegoagain123456 Are you thinking of @SBelfast? She was in hospital for a few (very long and tedious) days but then was able to go home (hurrah!). @SBelfast how are you getting on now?

I'm not sure there has been anyone else since, but forgive me if I've somehow missed something.

Your job sounds quite challenging, @herewegoagain123456, because I imagine it's pretty physical - all that standing and bending - and especially if you have PGP as well. You're a trooper! I'm having difficulty getting close enough to the kitchen counter to reach for stuff at the moment, so I can only imagine how hard it is for you. I'm glad to hear you get a bit of a break over Christmas! But obviously it is a very different story when you have your own business 🤗 I just hope you have someone who can offer you a pregnancy massage when it all gets a bit too much x

Morning @UrbanSquirrel & @herewegoagain123456 that's me with the leaky waters haha.
I'm doing well touchwood, in twice a week min for monitoring but all progressing well and good fluid around baby. One doctor even suggested could have been a false positive, however did have the dampness which led to the test in the first place. That said its been on and off and been good recently, apparently sometimes the holes can seal up or maybe whatever way baby is positioned can cover them - god knows:)

They wanted me to go at 37 weeks but since everything is progressing OK I'm going to ask to carry on longer. My heads all over the place re section or vaginal birth. Been told vaginal better if early. Was 100% section camp from start due to fear of cervical exams but now I'm thinking I might go for it despite the fear, and the risk I could end up with an unplanned section anyway.
Part of me is intuitively saying go for it, has anyone else felt this way? My heads all over the place about it!

UrbanSquirrel · 12/12/2024 08:07

@SBelfast That's great to hear that everything is settled down a bit; really good news! And if you can hold on for longer than 37 weeks, to give the baby a bit more time to 'bake', then that's all too the good ☺️

Go with your own gut feeling about the delivery - and of course it may change again as you get further on. Whatever you decide will be right for you! Just make sure that it is your decision and not something you're being pressured into, one way or the other. And remember that you don't want to be panicking or fearful while you're in labour, because you need to produce oxytocin in order to progress, so if you do decide to go down that route, does your hospital have an antenatal mental health team, who might be able to talk you through some breathing strategies or coping exercises, just so that you feel a bit more in control?

And feel free to keep using us as a sounding board! Sometimes it can be helpful to work through pros and cons with other people - and the thing I love about this thread is that there's absolutely no judgement one way or another ☺️

Thanks for the update! xxx

@SBelfast I know it’s probably no help, but I had an awful labour and birth experience last time and ended up with an emergency section (and I’ve been in therapy since for PTSD!) but I’m still going to try again for a vaginal birth this time.

In my head, if I try for a vaginal and change my mind half way through, I can ask for a section, whereas if I ask for a section and change my mind, it’s too late! That being said, you could book a section for, for example, your due date, and if you end up having to have baby earlier for whatever reason, try for a vaginal first. There’s no right or wrong, and remember you can decline cervical checks too if you don’t want them; a good midwife will mostly be able to identify how far along you are based on other factors (apparently anyway!).

I’ve got a consultant appointment this morning where they’re going to ask me officially what I want to do, feeling nervous!

herewegoagain123456 · 12/12/2024 13:09

@UrbanSquirrel yea job is rather challenging so deffo counting down the weeks 🤣

Sbelfast- glad everything has calmed down and might of been a false alarm. Closely monitored is always good.
Unfortunately I have no words of wisdom when it comes to c-sections.
But I can say I was induced with my first and it was lovely, well as lovely as births can be. But no horror induction stories here

Good idea on booking the C-section on your due date though or even a couple of days later as yea can change your mind about vaginal but not other way around

Hhdxx · 12/12/2024 18:50

Hi! I hope you don't mind me joining.
I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant with my second baby and very very apprehensive as my first baby died when she was 2 days old and I've also had 9 early miscarriages.
I've been looking for a group for ages and finally found it!
I'm currently obsessed with movement! Is anybody else? Some of the movements I have are so fast and I'm worried he's having some sort of seizure! Is anyone else feeling this? Xx

OnePinkSloth · 12/12/2024 19:13

@Hhdxx I had some random movements probably back around when I was late 20wks, I described it as something vibrating inside. Short bursts of really fast movement and then it would stop.

Felt so weird but it seems to have stopped now.

Not sure if that's similar to what you're feeling.

And sorry for your losses, trust things go well for you. 🙏

Hhdxx · 12/12/2024 19:15

@OnePinkSloth this is exactly what I'm feeling!!! I'm so worried about it. I'm presuming it's baby in an awkward position trying to get out.
My whole belly wobbles when it happens.
Thank you. I'm scared to join this chat as I was on a chat when pregnant with my daughter and it was hard leaving it after she died xx

OnePinkSloth · 12/12/2024 19:21

@Hhdxx isn't it strange. I felt mine always really low down in my pelvis so it didn't wobble my belly.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced it on here?

I didn't know if it was hiccups or not. But things seem to be okay over here now anyway, so I'm sure you will be too😊

Aww yes I can imagine that was super tough 🙏

herewegoagain123456 · 13/12/2024 06:16

@Hhdxx I get this all the time, like everyday. And am also worrying the same. But the midwifes have reassured me 🤞🏽

Ah mat leave twins! I also finish 7th Feb and 2 weeks off for Christmas from next Friday. I can't wait! I can imagine how physically hard that is especially for 30 mins plus at a time!

I have the squeezy app but haven't used it properly just been doing kegels on my own so I'll give that a go! You are a hero for managing the gym every day! I've been doing yoga twice a week and that's it. I do love it though.

Love your username 😂 I'm being a very lazy nester because my DH has been painting everything with some help from family (they banned me) but I have been getting baby stuff, hospital bag stuff ready. I've not had the urge to scrub everything yet but maybe over Christmas!

Thank you - yes I did tell them as soon as we came back in August! They said they couldn't advertise until they got my MatB1 form which took ages for me to receive (28 weeks something like that) even though I told them my due date in writing and asked them to advertise. I feel bad as the kids are nervous about who they're going to have and I can't reassure them. But you're right it's not my fault.

And yeah I'll see how I go! I'll stop if I need to, I am looking forward to the break over Christmas but baby is my absolute priority

Hhdxx · 13/12/2024 10:07

@OnePinkSloth thank you! It's hard not overthinking it isn't it.

@herewegoagain123456 thanks for letting me know you get it too. I wonder if it's the baby having a proper good dance in there. I do get kicks and rolls too but sometimes it's really fast movement in the same place for a few seconds. Xx

Redapple21 · 13/12/2024 12:20

@Hhdxx yes I remember this with my first baby and frantically googling seizures in the womb! Thankfully all was well so I think it's just them moving around in a weird way! I haven't really felt that this time but my placenta is at the front this time so maybe that's why I don't feel the same things.

So sorry for your losses. Wishing you well xx

Hhdxx · 13/12/2024 12:22

@Redapple21 thank you for letting me know! This is exactly what I've been googling too. I'm glad everything was ok for you and your baby 😀
X

MaiaForEmperor · 13/12/2024 14:06

Baby movements are so weird! Mine seems to wedge themselves into the bottom of my pelic sometimes, or maybe they're headbutting my cervix, but it's SO painful and lasts about 5 minutes. I've been minutes away from heading into triage a few times! Has anyone else had similar?

Mamma3456 · 13/12/2024 15:50

I had a weird vibrating in my bump this morning. Like I was growing a cat or a car, not a baby. 😂 I'm pretty sure she's head down because there's a lot of kicking at the top, but it feels like she's wedges into my pelvis sometimes and I don't know what's going on down there!

Hhdxx · 13/12/2024 21:32

@Mamma3456 I get this vibrating all the time! Today my belly has been like an earth quake, lots of shaky movements. It scares me so much!

@MaiaForEmperor I've had the movement in the cervix too! It makes me really need a wee too! Xx

UrbanSquirrel · 14/12/2024 08:53

A belted very warm welcome @Hhdxx and so, so sorry to hear about your losses, but thrilled to have you here with us now 🤗

Fascinated to hear about all these quirky movements that everyone's having! The closest I can get is the one occasion, a few weeks ago, when it felt as though MiniSquirrel was performing a steel band solo in my stomach, but she hasn't done that since... Loved the 'purring' description, @Mamma3456!

Finished up at work yesterday. I'm really going to miss my colleagues over the next year - we're quite a small and close-knit department - but they are all very excited to see the baby next year, whenever I can get her into town.

One of the girls from my pregnancy yoga group got taken in for an emergency c-section yesterday, eek, although admittedly she's a few weeks ahead of all of us. Mother and baby both very well, and baby looks adorable albeit slightly disgruntled in the one photo we've seen. But it reminded me that, come early January, things could happen at any time, which is a bit sobering.

@Piluka I feel bad I haven't responded to your recent message, but your description of feeling like 'a disabled whale on high heels' made me snort with laughter. If you really are still wearing heels, though, all kudos to you! I've been firmly in Skechers for several weeks now. Hope you manage to find a workable solution with your in laws visiting to see the baby, and it's great to hear that you have lots of help lined up from your mum. I thought of you yesterday because I was chatting to a colleague who's going back to Barcelona for Christmas and they were telling me about all the glorious Spanish food they're going to be eating 😋

Anyone got any ideas as to what “gift from the baby” I can get DD? She’s only going to be 20/21 months so she won’t have a clue what’s going on anyway but I’m feeling obliged!
