@CatCaretaker sorry just seen your comment after I posted. Emotionally I'm feeling alot better, pain wise alot better too! Having my dressing removed this afternoon which I'm nervous about, but all heading in the right direction. However, I've been hit with the most horrendous constipation. It's more like compaction that constipation, I can feel it's there it just won't budge. My sisters gone out and brought me some suppositories and movicol today which I'll try tonight. I'm so uncomfortable it feels like I'm sitting on a brick. 🥲 I even started taking stool softeners after the csection and really upd my fibre.

CatCaretaker · 17/12/2024 12:09

@Lunamoon23 glad you're feeling better in the main, and hopefully the drugs will help. I'm sure the dressing removal will be absolutely fine too.

Pity about little boy's sleeping. I have absolutely no experience of any of this, mine isn't due till the 30th, but I hope you can get some sleep! That is one thing I'm really nervous about, lack of sleep!

OP posts:
Lunamoon23 · 17/12/2024 12:13

@CatCaretaker I'm praying they help. The next step if not will be an enema or manual extraction which I really do not fancy!!

And oddly, I manage quite well without sleep. Like it's been two nights of exactly the same and I've had 4 hours max of sleep in 48 hours but I still function pretty well! My DH however, doesn't 😂 he really struggles to function without sleep so I think it's abit of a shock to the system for him. It's more so just the constant High pitch cry and just not knowing how to make it better I find frustrating! It's times like this I wish they could talk to you and tell you what's wrong! My advise, although I know how frustrating it is to hear this when your pregnant and uncomfortable and it's so cliche ... but sleep and rest to your hearts content now. I really didn't take enough advantage of that 😅 xxx

@Lunamoon23 oh gosh, you’ve reminded me of how bad the post section poop situation is! Lots of lactulose, warm drinks to get it going, etc.

Sorry to hear the sleep situation isn’t great. One tip I was told was to keep day naps in the noise and light and then keep it dark at night, minimum talking etc. This definitely helped us to get DS used to sleeping through the night and not thinking it’s party time.

@Lunamoon23 i second this.
make sure baby knows it’s day, in the day. And night, in the night. Don’t interact too much at night. Feed, change and sleep.. dark, white noise if you need it..

my first 3-6m with my DS were hard. He has never been a good sleeper without contact or feeding.
my DD now seems to be better at night and not so great in the day.

You could try shifts, my dh used to have baby for the first couple hours of the night and then I would have the rest (he was back at work and also can’t function without sleep)

it will get better, just try and see what works best for you! Trial and error x

starryx · 17/12/2024 15:05

Hi,
Congrats to who all have had their baby, hope you are doing well and your babies ❤️❤️

Situation on my end is I got a sweep tomorrow and then if that don't work Saturday (funny enough my due date lol) I have got to be induced just because I keep getting high blood pressure readings.

LilyJessie · 17/12/2024 15:20

@starryx
Everything crossed it works 🤞🏼🤞🏼
How're you feeling about that?

I had one appt at 38 weeks (last Monday), I don't have any other appts until 40 weeks (next Monday).
I really thought I would be seen a couple times in the last couple weeks haha!
No offers of sweeps etc etc (I don't have high blood pressure etc which I understand might be why)... But everyone else in my life having babies with a due date after me are already having their babies before me! Feel like I'm going mad! Haha x

Sorry only just checked to see! Was nervous but had it done now - lost some mucus plug when she did it and I was only 1cm dilated but better than nothing loll. Now got some spotting and light cramping. And you should ask about a sweep. I asked at my 38 week appointment and she said this week it'll be done 😊 maybe call the local all day assessment unit and ask for one?

And aww I'm sure your baby will be soon enough

Firsttimetrier · 18/12/2024 12:16

@starryx was it painful at all? I’ve heard such mixed reviews about it so don’t know what to do.

I’ve got a midwife appointment tomorrow and I’ll be 37+4 and the consultant said I could have one done, but seems to early on to have them.

I might just get checked to see if I’m dilated at all, then maybe make a judgement call from there.

It wasn't painful! Just very uncomfortable 😅 but it was over quite fast. I came out white like a ghost after she showed me the mucus plug that had come out.

Had a bit of spotting and cramping since (it's only been about 3 hours though)

Yeah I'd see how you're doing- I mean I'm 39+4 and only 1cm but this is my first

Firsttimetrier · 18/12/2024 14:07

@starryx that’s good to know! I’ll see if I’m dilated and if I’m maybe 2cm, I might go for it.

I started going into at 38+3 with my first, so I’m hoping it would do something but don’t want anything to happen over Christmas 😂 would like a Christmas dinner at home rather than a hospital Christmas dinner 😂😂

RedRobyn2021 · 18/12/2024 17:05

Amazing @Synergy94 as if you got to 8cm and didn't realise, I'm in awe

RedRobyn2021 · 18/12/2024 17:08

@Synergy94

The thing with tongue tie is it needs sorting even if you weren't breastfeeding, I've met lots of mums who have managed to get it sorted and persevere with bf - it doesn't have to be the end

Of the infant feeding team aren't moving quickly enough do you have the option of going private? I'm sure a local IBCLC could point you in the right direction

RedRobyn2021 · 18/12/2024 17:12

I've been quiet on here for a few days because I caught type a influenza from my DD and it exacerbated my HG so I couldn't stop vomiting, so I ended up in and out of hospital all weekend because I couldn't keep fluids down.

I have managed to stop vomiting but I am still poorly and have a horrendous cough that's stopping me sleeping. I'm 40 weeks on Saturday and so worried about going into labour whilst I'm so weak.

Firsttimetrier · 18/12/2024 18:06

That sounds horrendous @RedRobyn2021 I hope you feel better soon and if labour is near, it’s at the tail end when you feel much better!

There seems to be so much going around atm. 8 out of 15 toddlers from DS’s nursery class were off on Monday with fevers, so just waiting for us to get it 🫠

RedRobyn2021 · 18/12/2024 18:09

@Firsttimetrier there's a lot of V&D going round here which we've at least managed to avoid, I think we're just going to be hermits until the baby comes now

OnNaturesCourse · 18/12/2024 18:17

Flying update.
Baby boy born today 💙

LilyJessie · 18/12/2024 18:33

@OnNaturesCourse
Absolutely wonderful news. So many congratulations 🎉👏🏼
How are you feeling? Enjoy your baby bubble xxxx

MaybeBaby2024 · 18/12/2024 19:26

@OnNaturesCourse congratulations ☺️🩵

OnNaturesCourse · 18/12/2024 19:49

I'm feeling OK. Very sore. Very tired. Very much waiting to go home (can do later tonight)

I went from about 5cm to baby here in about a hour, maybe less. And from not doing much contractions to baby in my pants in under 2 mins.

We were that certain it was a while off that the midwife left the room for something so the poor student midwife had to deal with it all. She asked if I felt like I was pushing (as I grunted and groaned) and I managed to cry out his heads out! Luckily she caught him sliding out my pants.

From slow pace and frustrating to over and done super quick. Don't know what happened with that last contraction but my body was apparently just done and evicted him.

Has left my tailbone and pelvic bone quite tender as there was no slow movement or stretch to him coming through cervix and out.

7lb 10oz. Healthy and happy.

Thank you all 🎊❤️😘

Lunamoon23 · 18/12/2024 22:14

@OnNaturesCourse congratulations on your boy!! Sorry to hear your feeling sore, hopefully your home by now and can rest up and enjoy the new born snuggles and be feeling better very soon! He very obviously couldn't wait to arrive and meet you once things began moving!

@HelterSkelter224 how are you doing lovely?? Hope everything went well for you! Been thinking of you.

@RedRobyn2021 sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, definitely not what you need this far along in your pregnancy and so close to birth. Hopefully it passes quickly for you! Lots of rest, even if you aren't managing to sleep! And lots of fluids.

@Firsttimetrier thankfully, I've now managed to go toilet. The relief !!! My god. My sister brought me a suppository, took it last night after spending all of yesterday in agony, and within 25 minutes I was in the toilet. Felt so so much better!!

Also had my dressing removed yesterday, which was unpleasant, they didn't shave me before the cesarean despite me giving them permission to do so, so the dressing was all stuck to my regrowth (I had shaved myself about 2weeks prior). She was also trying to remove it without soaking it first, I had to tell her to get some water and cotton wool and sort of took over 😂 feels odd having it off - I feel a lot more vulnerable. But it's very neat, quite big but neat which I'm pleased about.
Feeling well within myself, baby had a much better night last night, and managed to nap today so feeling more human! Still feeling quite bruised and tender. Which I'm sure I will for a few more weeks yet, but I'm managing to do alot more myself now albeit slower and much more carefully.
Also had baby boy weighed yesterday, he'd only lost 6% of his birth weight which they were really happy with. And he had his heel prick done which he didn't even bat an eyelid at! He's also gone poop after two days of nothing - which we thought might have been causing the fussing, so pleased about that! We've got his hearing check on Friday. Which surprised me that they're doing it while he's still so young. He'll only be a week and a day old. Anyone advise what to expect at that appointment?
And we've had our first health visitor appt booked for the 23rd at our home. Anyone else think having a baby is really intrusive?? Like why do we need them coming to our home? For what? Surely as parents if we're concerned we know to ring the relevant services?? I just want them to leave me alone 😂

Lunamoon23 · 18/12/2024 22:16

@xx11x how are you feeling? Not sure when you left scheduled but know you mentioned it's soon so just wanted to check in. Xxxxx

Twinkletwinklelil · 18/12/2024 23:44

@OnNaturesCourse huge congrats! The tailbone pain.. I’m 2.5 weeks pp, still hurts!! Stock up on the painkillers x wishing you a speedy recovery x

Twinkletwinklelil · 18/12/2024 23:48

@Lunamoon23 hearing test- they insert a earphone type thing into babies ear and send white noise in, the machine picks up the signals and it’s done within a couple minutes. Painless and nothing uncomfortable for baby.
HV- mines coming tomorrow and I really can’t be bothered!! But hoping to get dd’s height measured as no one’s done it so far!! Use your HV to find out about support and classes nearby.
we’ve got a vaccination too which I’m dreading!

Synergy94 · 19/12/2024 00:43

@RedRobyn2021 The infant team have reached out and we have an appointment - he’s actually doing SO well with feeding but I still want it sorted (I’m a teacher so have seen the impact it can have on speech further down the line). I also hope you’re starting to feel better and it fully shifted before labour starts.

@Lunamoon23 I also find the number of appointments crazy! We’ve literally got something happening every day (partly because of baby’s tongue tie but also HV, registering birth etc). With the hearing check, ours was done when he was only 8 hours old in hospital! They said they’d repeat it in a few weeks if any issues but it was all good, over in less than a minute! We have his weight check and heel prick tomorrow - I hope he reacts similarly to your little man!
