@Lunamoon23 we have it before every feed into her mouth - we had a very gassy little one! Hopefully it helps but I know it's hit and miss

HelterSkelter224 · 16/12/2024 12:35

@GammaTheGecko I'm so glad baby is here safe and well and that you and your partner are ok too. My goodness what an absolute nightmare, I can't even imagine! The first few weeks are brutal glad we have this group for moral support xxx

MaybeBaby2024 · 16/12/2024 12:45

Oh my @GammaTheGecko that’s crazy! A very interesting birth story though. Congratulations and glad you’re both safe.

Twinkletwinklelil · 16/12/2024 13:07

@GammaTheGecko oh my goodness!! I hope you’re ok?! That is crazy. It’s something I thought about a lot - I don’t know why lol but an accident on the way to the Hosp in labour is something out of a film!!
im so sorry you went through that but well done on the short labour! And congrats on baby girl ♥️ my girl is a week older than yours and is cluster feeding 😭😭😭😭

LilyJessie · 16/12/2024 13:45

@GammaTheGecko
Wow! What a story. You super hero!
So many congratulations 🎉🎉
So exciting for you!
Welcome to the world baby!! xxx

OnNaturesCourse · 16/12/2024 16:06

@GammaTheGecko that's madness, something right out of a movie! So glad you are all OK (what a story it will make when baby is older!)

Firsttimetrier · 16/12/2024 17:03

Did anyone/has anyone had a sudden increase in how emotional and moody they are? I’ve cried several times today, raged at DH for no reason and anxiety is all over the shop, whilst also having nesting bursts.

Wondering if this is a hormonal shift and a sign? Or just wishful thinking 😂

CatCaretaker · 16/12/2024 17:58

@Firsttimetrier I've not had an increase recently (38 weeks today) but I've been more emotional in general dueing pregnancy than usual. Recently DP put on a documentary that in a roundabout way dealt with harm coming to children, and I couldn't cope. Had to leave the room to calm down and stop crying while DP turned the documentary off. Normally I'd be fairly stoic but I just couldn't.

@GammaTheGecko that's incredibly scary. Really glad everyone is OK! I'm in absolute aw that you were able to keep calm in the road. I hope there was at least one person with you to support you while you waited for teh ambulance. Was your DP/DH hurt?

@Firsttimetrier
I would say that's a sign!
I want a sign too haha 😂😂

Just an update to say that baby boy arrived this weekend, one week before his due date. I was already 8cm when I got to hospital (didn’t even think I was in labour at this point and was only at the hospital as I’d had some bleeding). Safe to say I was transferred very quickly from the antenatal assessment to delivery suite where baby boy arrived three hours later!

We are loving being in our newborn bubble, however he’s been struggling to stay latched. We had a visit from the midwife today and turns out he has a tongue tie that the hospital failed to diagnose! She has referred us back to the hospital so hopefully it can be sorted asap, determined to not let this end my breast feeding journey but it’s so hard seeing baby boy struggling to feed 😫

Synergy94 · 17/12/2024 01:59

@GammaTheGecko You are literally Superwoman, I’m in awe! I can’t even imagine how incredibly scary that must have been for you. I’m so glad you’re all safe and sending you the biggest congratulations on the safe arrival of baby.

MaybeBaby2024 · 17/12/2024 02:15

@Synergy94 congratulations 😊🩵

Definitely push to get the tongue tie corrected ASAP. My DS1 had it and it wasn’t picked up until it was too late and consequently has never been fixed (Hospital wouldn’t do it after 8 weeks) so I had a terrible time trying to breast feed him in the beginning.

I had to use nipple shields which helped him latch. And also expressed milk into bottles for him to keep the supply up. After 3 months he was able to latch without the shields (presume because his mouth was bigger) but yeah was a lot of hard work and perseverance on my part!

Twinkletwinklelil · 17/12/2024 05:52

congrats @Synergy94
fingers crossed for you! I think you’ll be fine- have heard some great success stories post tongue tie (my sister was one! Bf for over a year once sorted!)

Well it's induction day for me.

Just sent my oldest off to school and I'm a emotional wreak inside thinking when we next see each other there will be another.

Spending the morning cuddling my toddler (to their resistance lol) and trying to relax.

Always struggle with this part.

reuniting will be the best!! Sending love and positivity xxx

Firsttimetrier · 17/12/2024 10:18

Hope today goes well for you both @OnNaturesCourse and @HelterSkelter224! So close to meeting your babies!

I had a slow morning with the toddler and dropped him into nursery late (and put him in our bed after he needed the toilet at 4am) as I’m trying to savour up all the moments of just us before baby arrives.

Positively, after my awful mood yesterday, my emotions seem much more stable. Surprised DH didn’t divorce me yesterday as I was in such a foul mood and snapped at him multiple times for no reason 🙈

Firsttimetrier · 17/12/2024 10:21

@Synergy94 congratulations! glad the midwife spotted tongue tie early, mine missed it with DS at first then we went private around 8 weeks and it was a game changer! Managed to breastfeed until he was 14 months. The change in him feeding was instant and would recommend going private if the NHS is a long wait.

MaybeBaby2024 · 17/12/2024 10:39

@OnNaturesCourse @HelterSkelter224 best of luck to both of you for today!

Lovely hearing about all the babies starting to arrive 🥰

LilyJessie · 17/12/2024 11:02

@Synergy94

You sound like a warrior!
So many congratulations to you on the birth of your baby boy!!

Absolutely push for the tongue tie.

LilyJessie · 17/12/2024 11:04

CatCaretaker · 17/12/2024 11:38

@HelterSkelter224 @OnNaturesCourse so excited for you two!

@Lunamoon23 how are you doing today?

Lunamoon23 · 17/12/2024 11:44

Thank you @HelterSkelter224 we've started using it but haven't noticed much of an improvement currently. Have midwife this afternoon so will mention it then.

@GammaTheGecko firstly congratulations on the arrival of your little girl!! Secondly, what a wild birth story!! That'll be one to tell when they're older!! So so glad you're all okay though, that must have been truly terrifying for you and your partner! And what strength you showed - true superwomen!!

@Synergy94 congratulations on the arrival of your baby boy!!! Glad to hear the birth went well!! Again? Trooper to not even realise you were in labour!! Sorry to hear about the tounge tie though, I've had a terrible start to breastfeeding too, he also wouldn't latch, I've midwife this afternoon. I've been having to hand express and top up with formula. Disappointing but happy aslong as he's fed.

@OnNaturesCourse good luck with your induction today!!! Hopefully you'll be holding baby in your arms very soon!!

@HelterSkelter224 good luck today!! Will be thinking of you!! Hope everything goes well for you and baby!! Enjoy those newborn snuggles and take care of yourself.

We've been having a tough couple of days with little man, he definitely duped us into a false sense of security 😂 he's gone from being the most content baby, sleeping really well. To ... sleeping really well in the day, literally wakes to be fed and changed and will be awake for a short while, then when bedtime comes round, he's like a different baby. Extremely fussy, crying constantly, nothing helps... the last two nights he's had us up virtually all night long, bar an hour/hour and a half spread over the evening. Then 7am rolls around and he's back to being a content sleepy baby.
We've tried feeding more at bedtime, a bath, baby massage, sound machine, burping, cradling to sleep, rocking, burping, bicycle legs, absolutely nothing works. Even holding him? He'll just cry. Really out of answers and completely exhausted. I'm allowing DH to sleep today until our appt so he can take over this evening and I can get some sleep. He didn't poo yesterday and hadn't today ether so I'm wondering if it's that? He's peeing plently... feeding well. Any ideas or suggestions? X
