@LilyJessie I just saw your other post, regarding weight. Please be assured, I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and I've gained a whopping 3 stone... I'm usually very petite, size 6-8, can generally eat what I like and weight doesn't go on. However, during pregnancy, it's STUCK to me. I've had moments where I've gotten really down about it. I look and feel very different (although my husband tells me I look no different, just pregnant) I think he's being kind 😂 I've never been a breakfast or lunch eater, and during pregnancy, that's continued as I just haven't felt hungry. Yet, here I am... 3 stone heavier. I've occasionally indulged, but up until last Wednesday, I'm on my feet all day, 5 days a week doing 10,000+ steps a day. It hasn't made a difference. They do say the smaller you are pre pregnancy, the more weight you need to/tend to gain. But I'll admit, it's shocked me. But, we're so close to the end now... I'd try not to worry about it. You'll be so busy once baby is here, I'm sure it'll come off relatively quickly. Just know you're not alone. ❤️

I've gained 3 stone as well. I did in my last pregnancy too, actually 3 and half stone by the end!

It's normal

RedRobyn2021 · 02/12/2024 09:46

@Firsttimetrier

Crawling around on all fours is meant to be sooo good for getting the baby in a good position for labour! And a good position means a quicker labour! ♥️

When I was labouring with my first, I wasn't getting any breaks between contractions and i couldn't understand why because everyone told me I'd get a break! Well she must have been in a bad position, once we sorted that it was like a totally different kettle of fish and she was being pushed out within the hour

Hoping so much this time this one is in a good position and I get my breaks 😂 I think it will be much more manageable that way

RedRobyn2021 · 02/12/2024 09:47

Wow congratulations ladies @HopefulElle @Twinkletwinklelil

MaybeBaby2024 · 02/12/2024 12:07

Congratulations @HopefulElle @Twinkletwinklelil!! 👶❤️

Lunamoon23 · 02/12/2024 19:33

I had my pre op appointment today for my ELCS. I won't bore you all with the details but if there is anyone awaiting there's who wants to ask some questions beforehand, feel free to ask ❤️ xxx

RedRobyn2021 · 02/12/2024 19:54

@Lunamoon23 did it go well? Are you excited?

I got all the baby clothes out this evening, I'm going to start washing them tomorrow 37+3

Probably have a while yet but it's ok to be prepared 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have way too many vests and sleepsuits haha

CatCaretaker · 02/12/2024 19:59

Congratulations @HopefulElle and @Twinkletwinklelil , delighted for you both.

@Lunamoon23 are you happy with the outcome of the meeting?

Question for you all. I'm now 36 weeks exactly. DP has had a weekend away next weekend planned for months (he only booked it because I assured him it was fine). He got full insurance so he can cancel anytime.

He is now saying he really doesn't think he should go, while I still think it's fine. He'll be back on Sunday, when I'll be 36+6. I will have my sister stay with me (he was going to outright cancel unless I got someone to stay with me).

Would you be happy for your DPs / DHs to go away at 36 weeks? He thinks baby's going to come any minute, even though there has been abolsutely no sign of that so far. First baby too, more likely to be late than early I think.

@CatCaretaker
How far away is he going to be?
If it's same country I would be okay with it.
I would be a little anxious for abroad, but that's just me!
As you say it could be weeks yet!!

CatCaretaker · 02/12/2024 20:14

@LilyJessie he's going to London (we're in Dublin) so yes, it's abroad. Maybe I'm naive to think it's OK 🤔

If anything seems to be happening before Friday he won't go of course, and he can get a flight back pretty easily too.

Ooh, this is a tricky one. Statistically, you’ll probably be fine and nothing will happen, however, sod’s law.

I think if he didn’t need to rely on a flight and could get back in 2 hours max, I’d be happy for him to go.

CatCaretaker · 02/12/2024 20:25

@Firsttimetrier yes that's what he's saying too, sod's law.

I've just checked, and if he were in London now, the next flight he could get would be at 6:30am tomorrow.

I have a checkup on Thursday. We'll see where baby is, how we're both doing, and decide then I think. I feel like she's going to stay put for a good while yet, but what do I know really 😂

MaybeBaby2024 · 02/12/2024 20:28

@CatCaretaker London isn’t that far away, he should hopefully be able to get back quickly enough if anything happens.
And first baby labour could be long.

MaybeBaby2024 · 02/12/2024 20:31

Finally getting around to packing my hospital bag tonight. Those crampy tightening feelings yesterday scared me.

Hard to know what to pack. I thought I had packed too much last time and then ended up getting kept in longer than expected so actually didn’t have enough!

CatCaretaker · 02/12/2024 20:34

@MaybeBaby2024 it sure creeps up doesn't it! I have my bag packed now, and baby stuff ready at home, which makes me feel a lot better in general.

I'm not good at sitting still, but trying to tell myself to just relax for the last few weeks, as I'll need the energy later (I won't sit for the whole time, I know that's not good either).

Hey@MaybeBaby2024
i actually packed the minimum for taking and then left spares at home for hubby to go pick up IF we ended up staying in longer!

MaybeBaby2024 · 02/12/2024 20:44

@Twinkletwinklelil that sounds sensible! DP is very good and would Be able to bring me anything extra I needed. I’m just a bit of a control freak and like to know I have all my stuff with me lol.

@CatCaretaker I know, I’m in full nesting mode, finding little things all round the house that I want to clean or organise.
Tbh I don’t think we can ever feel totally ready for baby.

Lunamoon23 · 02/12/2024 20:46

@RedRobyn2021 @CatCaretaker it was more so a meeting with the anaesthetist about what to expect on the day, what will happen step by step, a chance to ask any questions etc. was very informative although I did know 99% of it as I've read up about it all ALOT. Has bloods taken and given my pre op drinks and medication - all feeling very real now, crazy to think a week on Wednesday he'll be here!! 💙 I'm very nervous though, very!

@CatCaretaker reading your replies to the questions above, regarding distance. I'd probably say better safe than sorry especially as he's got insurance and won't loose anything by not going, if it was nearby then sure. But, considering if something was to happen, he'd potentially miss it. It wouldn't be worth it to me.
I understand his worries though, My DH went to his Christmas staff party on Saturday evening, only 35 minutes away from our home and I had to literally kick him out the door 😂 he was worried about going and didn't drink and drove instead and was home by 11. I was 37+6. Was he going for anything special? Xxxx

I think your checkup will help put your mind at rest (how engaged is baby etc. although of course all that can change!) if I were you I'd prob encourage him to go and you'll have your sister with you. It's unlikely, although a possibility, that he'd miss the birth so are you comfortable with having your sister just in case?

CatCaretaker · 02/12/2024 21:11

Hmm, lots of good points, thanks everyone. Will talk to him about it again tomorrow.

LilyJessie · 02/12/2024 21:47

@Lunamoon23 - so super exciting for you 😁 😊 😊 not long now and it'll all be worth it!

@CatCaretaker - I also think if he doesn't want to go, then he probably won't have a good time there and will just be stressed the whole time. I mean, it's not often babies are around the corner, so maybe he will actually have a better time staying home.
P.s. I love Dublin!!
