39+2 weeks pregnant, baby not moving!

Just want some reassurance as baby has been very very quiet for the last couple of days and refusing to move today. Tried sugary drinks and all other stuff but he is not moving. Have been on the phone with my midwife twice this week already so really don't want to call her again. Do I need to be concerned?

Thanks

You should contact your midwife and the baby should be monitored.

avenanap · 25/04/2008 14:15

Phone your midwife again. She is here for this type of thing. You won't be bothering her. I wouldn't leave it as you may not be able to contact her tomorrow with it being the weekend. I would do it now actually.

TC08 · 25/04/2008 14:15

Thanks Belgo.

My DH thinks nothing to worry about but I am just not sure what to do.

The chances are all is fine but if the baby isn't moving then you always need to get the baby checked out- especially as you've already had a sugary drink and the baby still isn't moving.

Phone your midwife now.

DO IT NOW. My placenta failed at 38 weeks - it does happen. CALL HER!!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 25/04/2008 14:18

Please get it checked.

ArrietyClock · 25/04/2008 14:19

My nephew did this. His mum turned up at the maternity unit pronto to be checked out and within a very short time was heading for a c-section. Don't mean to frighten you, but really they DO take things like this seriously and won't think you are fussing or wasting their time. You really must get it checked immediately.

TC08 · 25/04/2008 14:20

Tried to call her but as always voicemail. Might try her later (she never returns calls anyway).

agree with everyone else - please get someone to check this out. It's probably nothing to worry about, but just in case, it needs to be monitored.

lollipopmother · 25/04/2008 14:21

Definitely get it checked right away, the MW will kick your ass if she finds out you didn't ring her!

NotABanana · 25/04/2008 14:21

Just go to the hospital now.

I have had experience of this and you need to get checked out asap.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 25/04/2008 14:21

If she doesn't return calls then the best thing might be to go in. You'd only just worry more over the weekend otherwise.

soremummy · 25/04/2008 14:21

Can you call local maternity unit instead I know I would

avenanap · 25/04/2008 14:21

Phone the hospital. Tell them your baby has stopped moving and you can't get hold of your midwife. You need to go in and for your baby to have a trace. Don't leave it.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 25/04/2008 14:21

TCO8 - this MIGHT be something serious.

I don't want to worry you, it probably isn't. But it needs to be checked now

If you can't get through to her, go to the hospital.

TC08 · 25/04/2008 14:22

Oh now I am really scared!!!

I do feel kind of more unwell today then normal and temperature was a bit high earlier. Shall I call hospital then or try midwife later?

neolara · 25/04/2008 14:22

Why don't you call the labour ward if you are concerned.

Flumpytigger · 25/04/2008 14:22

Ring the maternity unit - the number should should be on the front of your notes.

You MUST get this checked out ASAP.

NotABanana · 25/04/2008 14:22

Just go to the hospital NOW

fettleandbabyfettle · 25/04/2008 14:22

call you maternity ward at your hospital now and get down there. Or go to A&E - don't want to scare you, but my best friend just lost her baby at 36 weeks after having no movement for a couple of days.

They won't think you're bothering them - that's what they are there for. They would rather send you on your way with a healthy baby than anything else.

please please go now!

moodlumthehoodlum · 25/04/2008 14:23

I would deffo go in, not wait for her to call you back. Sure everything is OK, but go in now.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 25/04/2008 14:23

don't panic, it's probably all ok, but it does need to be checked out. Get yourself to the hospital in the quickest way.

Let us know what they say.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 25/04/2008 14:23

you'll need a ctg trace so call labour ward- really, really important- you could be buying your LO just enough time to survive

later may jnot do it

avenanap · 25/04/2008 14:24

Don't panic, sometimes they sleep. You need to get it checked though, especially as the movements have slowed down over the past couple of days. It's better to check.

moodlumthehoodlum · 25/04/2008 14:24

Try not to panic (impossible I know). Are you able to get there easily?
