Just want some reassurance as baby has been very very quiet for the last couple of days and refusing to move today. Tried sugary drinks and all other stuff but he is not moving. Have been on the phone with my midwife twice this week already so really don't want to call her again. Do I need to be concerned?

Thanks

are you back? what did the hospital say?

soremummy · 25/04/2008 20:36

Hoping all went ok for you at the hospital x

DoubleBluff · 25/04/2008 21:03

Bumping for news!

bringmesunshine · 25/04/2008 21:14

I am working on the no news is good news theory.

Am I correct in thinking that just before labour babies slow down with regards to movements as they are almost preparing themselves for birth? (Had 2 electives so never laboured)

I hope you are all well TC08.

DoubleBluff · 25/04/2008 21:16

Thats what I suggested bms. So hoping that baby is out now or on its way.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 25/04/2008 21:23

I'm also hoping that no news is good news.

You are right that movements do decrease when you're going into labour.

They also decrease the bigger you get - there is just no room for baby to kick.

So I am just back and still with a bump!!! Had to stay in the hospital forever. Doctor've done scan but couldn't see anything wrong. Then they also put monitoring belt to watch baby's heart and forgot about us, so instead of max 20 min had to lie flat for over 50 min!!! Then Doctor rushed out saying she had to do emergency c-section and we were left to wait again. Very frustrating!!!

Eventually she came back and done a proper scan but couldn't make baby move (was very sore as she was pushing very hard on my tummy to make little one move). She gave us 2 options of either me staying overnight so they can monitor baby constantly or wait until specialist will see me and do a different!!! scan but it might take hours as they were very busy.

Went for second option as couldn't fancy staying in the hospital overnight. Luckily didn't have to wait for second doctor for too long. She was a bit strange to start with, sort of attitude "What are you doing here? Heart beat seems ok?!?!" but then got a bit more nicer. She done another long scan and we could see baby moving his head. She did give us a monitoring form which I suppose to fill in now every time I feel baby kicking and I am going back to the hospital on Monday just for check-up.

So feel much MUCH better now. I know it was a long day and lots of waiting and stressing out but in the end it is important to know everythink seems ok.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT, I REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
THANKS
xxx

hooray!! So pleased it's all ok.

bringmesunshine · 25/04/2008 22:13

Hurrah

What lovely news, glad everything is all ok and make sure you fill in your kick chart!

Ceolas · 25/04/2008 22:15

That's wonderful news! Take care of yourself and that baby. Look forward to your birth announcement

TC08 · 25/04/2008 22:17

Thanks again. Doctor did say though that if tomorrow or Sunday baby won't move or move only once or twice get back to the hospital. I am blocking it out as trying to think positive!
Wonder what makes babies suddenly so lazy?!

  • glad it all went well for you.

Look on the bright side - it would appear you DC is capable of long naps which are not interrupted by any kind of noise, prodding or discomfort. My DD1 (in bump form) was like that and slept through by 8 weeks. DD2 (in bump form) was the complete opposite and still doesn't sleep through despite being 2 next week .

Youcannotbeserious · 25/04/2008 22:19

Really glad everything looks good.

Try to have a relaxing weekend

Take care, YCBS, x

bringmesunshine · 25/04/2008 22:20

TC08 - consensus of opinion seems to be labour makes them quiet, have you got that bag packed?

I am a sunroof girl so not an expert

yurt1 · 25/04/2008 22:20

Don;t worry about going in TC08. I went in because i was concerned about movements with both ds2 and ds3. Not with wriggly ds3, but I went in on Xmas day at 39 weeks with shockingly high blood pressure (260/140 or something ridiculous) which turned out to be just stress and came down with a few cups of tea and some TV watching in a quiet room

They do prefer you to go in than sit at home with something going wrong.

Go in again and again if you get at all worried.

Sunshinemummy · 25/04/2008 22:20

Been watching your thread TC08 - so glad to hear all is well.

pinkspottywellies · 25/04/2008 22:22

Haven't read the thread just OP and your last post but my baby slowed down for a couple of days just before I went into labour!!

I went to the hospital for monitoring (went on a machine for half an hour) on the Wednesday night having not felt her move all day (and poss most of the day before but I wasn't looking out for it) then went into labour on Thursday night. Good luck!!

avenanap · 25/04/2008 22:23

You're so close, sometimes it's better to have them a bit earlier then you expected. A few days early isn't bad. Make sure you fill the sheet in, please go back if it happens in the morning.

Nappyzone · 25/04/2008 22:24

glad all is well - perhaps resting as the big event is iminent - i 2nd bag at the ready !

TC08 · 25/04/2008 22:25

Will try to make the most of the weekend!

Thanks again x

Whew! Glad to hear the good news, TC!

Maybe wee one will decide to come out at the weekend.

TC08 · 25/04/2008 22:29

Thats the thing. DD1 was 18 days early and we were kind of hoping DC2 will arrive a bit earlier but it doesn't look like this any more (I kind of gave up my hopes after trying all possible things like pineapples, hot curry, long walks etc).

Just hope you might be right and he is getting ready.

TC08 · 25/04/2008 22:35
