21 weeks and having mental fallout.

Anyone else becoming a turbo flake? I keep forgetting things and double booking and just not functioning that efficiently.

Also am SO tired! Wasn't expecting to feel this tired til 3rd trimester. When does that start?

ipanemagirl · 11/05/2008 10:51

Also my dh and I have complete unity on girls names but none at all on boys names.

I like classic boys names, he likes extremely bizarre, obscure, unattractive OT names and just weird ones too. Yuck. If it's a boy we'll have to call it junior at this rate!

pwcbird · 11/05/2008 10:59

Hi everyone,
Just a quickie as still away - dying to get home to read and catch up properly
msdynamo pls don't worry. My poor DH has been at the receiving end recently to some unreal rows - the other week I actually pushed him out of the front door and told him to f* off and not come back. I then, predictably, fell on the sofa and sobbed uncontrollably. He did return (after a pint to recover!) and all was well. We argued on Friday after Sainburys shop and I seem to scream and then sob instantaneously just with him looking half the wrong way at me. It's hell at the beginning and I truly believe we are at the mercy of our hormones.
lou666 with DS I had to go back for a 2nd 20 week scan as they couldn't see his heart properly and he wouldn't move or change position. All was perfectly ok but it is a worry at the time. I think it's pretty common-ish. Try not to fret. Next time you go in eat a mars bar (I was told this) as the sugar rush makes them dance about.
johnworf loving your names - excellent choices.
jeanjeannie I love the weekends too - I don't dress until late and DH has childcare responsibility (which does though lead to incredible mess - I agree). Ahhh
xx

johnworf · 11/05/2008 12:22

ipanemagirl I can't remember my own name half the time and I'm such a butter fingers. Everything I pick up I drop.

I'm loving pwcbirds crying/rowing at the same time. Glad I'm not the only one and I'm sure my neighbours will forgive me one day. DH hasn't got a clue what's going on half the time with me...he just takes himself off to somewhere I can't find him until I finish crying

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the girls names! ipanemagirl it's really hard finding the right one and then actually AGREEING on it I take it you're not going to find out the sex of LO? If it's a girl you're sorted!!!!

lowlandlady · 11/05/2008 17:13

Thanks johnworf glad I'm not alone! And we could know the sex (we had cvs) but are trying very hard not to find out beforehand. My dh nearly buckled at the 20 week scan but I just keep thinking it's such a great surprise if we can hold out. It IS hard though given that I could find out with one phone call!!!
Yes a girl would be a piece of cake name wise. But I'm certain it's a boy for some reason, and it is going to be quite grim trying to agree. I hope we don't end up with an obnoxious compromise!

My parents compromised on the name of one of my sisters (because the couldn't agree) and it is a slightly lame name!

But Jethro? Be realistic mate!

ipanemagirl · 11/05/2008 17:17

sorry that was me what wrote that!!
(I name changed briefly)

johnworf · 11/05/2008 18:11

Jethro??? Is he a 70's prog rock fan then?

Could be worse...he could like Uriah Heap????

ipanemagirl · 11/05/2008 20:10

No he hates the Tull! (All the more reason to flinch from the name! IMO!)

He just adores extremely obscure names. It's virtually Moon Unit territory but in the Old Testament!!

wahwah · 11/05/2008 20:46

Just a quick word- baby wahwah arrived yesterday after an 8 hour labour. She was born at home in my trusty birthpool in a box, without a stitch. We are feeling very lucky. Good luck to you all, it may be a while before I get to visit again...

Kaz1967 · 11/05/2008 21:40

wahwah congratulations glad it all went well

LouiseAnn · 11/05/2008 21:42

wahwah - congratulations !!

I am also becoming more absent minded. It is mainly not finding the right word to say and saying the wrong word.

Kaz1967 · 11/05/2008 21:51

I am like forgetful too and sometimes struggle finding the right word. Have a presentation to do at college on Tuesday so that could be interesting LOL

ipanemagirl · 11/05/2008 22:29

Congratulations wahwah!!!!!!!!! what fantastic news!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done you!!!!

msdynamo · 11/05/2008 23:34

Hi wahwah that's great news, really happy for you, and for us too! Another triumph for fab mums in their 40's!!!

The fact that you did it at home without a stitch is even more impressive, congratulations!

(PS I still want my elective CS!)

msdynamo · 11/05/2008 23:42

pwcbird thanks for your story about rowing with your DP. I don't like these frequent uncontrollable mood swings, which are set off by the slightest thing. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

I keep telling my BF that it will all be better after 12 weeks, when really I know it might not get better for the next 9 months (or more!).

johnworf · 12/05/2008 07:06

wahwah congratulations on the safe arrival of your little girl! So envious, not a stitch. Glad that both of you are doing well See you when you get some time - that'll be about 16 years then?!

On another note, let's face it ladies, we've lost our marbles and bark at our DP's

I had huge row with DH last night and told him I was leaving him. Honestly, it came from nowhere and about nothing. I went to bed on my own and had a cry. Feel fine today like nothing has happened

IT'S THE BABY HORMONES

disneystar · 12/05/2008 07:33

johnworf im the same i told my dh i was leaving him the other week he just says he cant wait till baby arrives to get a bit of peace from me,
also remember your sugar levels reflect your mood if its gets to high makes us irratable and to low makes us cry and be weepy and emotional you cant win
im of to stab myself again up to 18 units at the moment twice a day
the joys of pregnancy eh!!!!
got a growth scan next monday its going to be interesting
johnworf i wanted to ask you
have you already been told you can have an elective section?
is this cos of diabetes alone or have you had to have other sections before
its just they want to induce me and i do not want that, need to be armed with info before seeing consultant
wahwah well done and big hello to baby wahwah

disneystar · 12/05/2008 07:40

just wanted to say im 30 wks now i have to have him early cos of medical reasons so i have 6 to 7 weeks to go
i see the light at the end of the tunnel
i told my DH that he said our LO probably does to (or he will be glad to )
going to be another hot day here
hope all you ladies are ok and not suffering to much in this heat

msdynamo · 12/05/2008 07:58

Morning all. johnworf I notice in your profile that you like gardening. I have just moved to a fantastic flat with a garden. The websites say gardening is risky for pregnancy (toxi someting or other from cat faeces in the soil). I was looking forward to it so much I can't stand by and watch it overgrow with weeds. What's your opinion?

msdynamo · 12/05/2008 08:06

Meant to add I like both Katherine and Gaia, can't you have both?

jeanjeannie · 12/05/2008 08:27

wahwah WOW!!! That's fab news....*bows in awe of home pool and no stitches When you visit again (cos I'm sure you've hot BAGS of time on your hands!)do let us know her name. Hugs to all the wahwahs x

Ah johnworf I was reading your profile too...you actually have one! Bloomin 'eck....we're similar..the gardening, types of music, pastimes, runs own business in beauty. I used to write about beauty/hair/fashion and had own pr company in that industry....Ooooo spooky! I shall do my profile I think - so I can put up 'boasting' pics of the little ones...none of me looking chunky though!

msdynamo I'm a gardening addict...and still gardening (well, when I can bend over) I bought a couple of really good gloves....one of which were waterproof, so if you touch wet soil it doesn't leak through to fingers. And then lashing of soap afterwards and you'll be fine.

Just soo hot and DD is non too happy with the heat when she's tired....gawd, did we have tantrums yesterday! And I'm in on the DP/DH bashing....overcome with the heat I just laid into DP - gave him a verbal tongue lashing he didn't deserve.....then I cried. He gave me some cake...and I was fine x

ps johnworf jack russell hurdle racing was on channel 4 just after 7am.....now THAT'S a sport.....

ipanemagirl · 12/05/2008 09:50

empathy to all scrapping fabulous over 40 and pg ones!

well dh and I had a row after our 20 week scan!! How bad is that? when you're supposed to be all lovey dovey and soppy headed we're sniping like michael douglas and katharine wotsit in the Tates!

He was v apologetic but pretty poor all round from both of us!

He just thinks I'm 'mad' any way and just 'more mad' when pregnant!!!

johnworf · 12/05/2008 10:01

I'm just laughing my head off at these posts! They are hilarious and I'm glad I'm not alone in my totally erratic behaviour. I remind myself of a 2 year old sometimes

disneystar thanks for the info on the mood swings and blood sugar levels. Never thought to associate the two . It makes perfect sense though.

Btw, I'm starving these days which is really hard to balance not over eating and getting the sugars up too high. I had a cornetto the other day and they went SKY HIGH. I felt very guilty afterwards.

I'm currently on 14 units a day but I'm just about the ring the clinic when I've finished this post and see what they say about the 8.0 before reading from yesterday morning first thing. gulp

The reason I requested an elective CS was originally due to my last baby and the 3rd degree tear I had. I'm absolutely terrified of it happening again. I did ask and they said no at first but when the GD was confirmed they said it was fine and no problem and they'd probably had offered me one anyway because of it. I think if you're firm with them and try and get a discussion out of them, then they'll relent.

msdynamo I don't touch the garden nowadays. I'm merely here in a supervisory position! Actually I got DH to do lots over the weekend after a trip to the garden centre for some nice shrubs. I would advise getting someone to do it for you or wear thick gloves. You don't want to get any cat shit on you - v bad for babykins.

Thanks for the vote on the names too...I'm actually talking to her now and calling her Katherine. DH thinks I'm madder than mrs mad on national mad day in mad land.

Scared myself actually reading a thread on mumsnet about sexing scans gone wrong...out pops opposite of what you've been told. I've ordered loads of dresses too! Meh.

Wow jeanjeannie we've spookily got similar interests. I like selling the perfume and cosmetics stuff actually. Hadn't realised before I set up my website and ebay shop that so many people wanted to buy it! And a lot of those are of the men variety too.

Poor LO in this heat. I had a tantrum too so I'm with her on this one. Hope she is happier today

Off to set the DVD recorder for the jack russell racing...I think me and DSS are in for a treat

P.S. I'm looking forward to reading all your profiles when you put them up

hedgepig · 12/05/2008 10:03

morning everyone. I have a day off work today so I have fantastic intentions of tidying and cleaning BUT mums net seems to have popped up on the computer! so the Hoover is still not plugged it.

Wahwah - congratulation's on baby wahwah.

msdynamo - I agree with johnworf wear gloves for gardening and wash you hands really well afterwards.

ipanemagirl · 12/05/2008 10:06

johnworf, I love Katherine!
