Filling up car 10 weeks

Sawa75 · 31/08/2024 12:42

I had no choice but to put petrol.in car today (10 weeks - I have tried to get husband to do it when pregnant). Of course inhaled fumes, wasn't able to get head out of way of it.

Any solid advice before I go down the google hole?

I filled up my own car throughout my pregnancy, didn’t think anything of it. My teens seem just fine. I wouldn’t think about it again. You need to try and live normally while you’re pregnant or you’ll drive yourself mad. ( Ovviously I’d avoid alcohol, smoking, high risk sports etc!)

fairenough24 · 31/08/2024 12:45

You will be fine. Not an issue. Get some therapy. That you are thinking about googling this as an issue is a problem

StormingNorman · 31/08/2024 12:46

Relax. Pregnant women have been filling up cars for as long as cars have existed.

Theleaveswillbefalling · 31/08/2024 12:47

As long as you don’t drink it then it’s fine.

Muffin101 · 31/08/2024 12:47

Solid advice? Don’t drive yourself mad looking for issues where there are none. You will be absolutely fine, your baby will be absolutely fine.

Icanwalkintheroom · 31/08/2024 12:48

This is not in any way, shape or form an issue or potential issue.

PointyHairyLegHairs · 31/08/2024 12:48

Is that a thing? I mean, it's been years since I had a baby, but never did it enter my head not to fill up the car.
All my offspring are fine BTW!

user1471538275 · 31/08/2024 12:48

What on earth are you on about.

Millions of women fill up their cars throughout their whole pregnancy.

You're out in the fresh air, fumes will dissipate quickly.

You really are looking for trouble where it doesn't exist here.

OneEightTwo · 31/08/2024 12:50

Oh. Parenthood is going to be an arduous journey for you if you keep this nonsense up.

moppety · 31/08/2024 12:50

Is this even a thing? I filled up my car as normal during both pregnancies and never thought of doing otherwise. Assuming you didn't stick the nozzle up your nose, I can't see the problem?

ChristmasJumpers · 31/08/2024 12:54

This is the first time I've ever heard that this could be an issue. I filled up my own car throughout my last pregnancy and still do now in current pregnancy.

I don't think there's anything to worry about here unless you stuck the nozzle over your nose and took a few deep breaths (or drank it)

Ohdearyme72 · 31/08/2024 12:57

You'll.be fine

pinkfleece · 31/08/2024 12:59

This is nonsense OP, relax.

Floralnomad · 31/08/2024 12:59

Is this a thing now ? I filled my car up throughout both of my pregnancies and didn’t give it a second thought

Beginningless · 31/08/2024 13:01

The smell used to make me very nauseous but that was the extent of the issue. Try not to worry.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 31/08/2024 13:02

What?!

This isn’t a thing. It isn’t a problem.

If this is genuinely the level of things that you are worrying over then you need to speak to someone about your anxiety levels because you’re not going to keep this up until your child is 18 (and beyond).

littleredcaravan · 31/08/2024 13:02

You didn't inhale fumes.

You could smell fuel while at the fuel station.

Unless you drank it or stuck your nose in the tank and stayed there for a while I reckon you will be fine.

Justcallmebebes · 31/08/2024 13:02

I've had a few kids, always out petrol in my own car and never ever thought this was a problem. Kids are all grown healthy adults

Ratfinkstinkypink · 31/08/2024 13:03

Google needs to come with a health warning, I swear it is partly responsible for the increase in people worrying it always throws up some weird crap.

You have nothing to worry about.

TheFormidableMrsC · 31/08/2024 13:03

Bloody hell, is this even a thing? I've always filled my own car up even when pregnant. Wouldn't give it a second thought.

StMarieforme · 31/08/2024 13:04

I have never given this the slightest bit of thought?

Social media gives new mums/ mums to be so many unnecessary things to worry about 😞

longdistanceclaraclara · 31/08/2024 13:06

It's not an issue. At all.

Mumof1andacat · 31/08/2024 13:08

Filling up your car is zero issue when pregnant. You will be fine.

Strugglebus86 · 31/08/2024 14:34

Didn't even enter my head not to. 2 kids and pregnant.

...does this also mean I can get away with not cleaning the bathroom because I've been scrubbing my toilet with harpic and I'd rather have until January off if poss 😂

HerewegoagainSS · 31/08/2024 14:39

If I tried that one with DH he would tell me to jog on or get the bus. And I would agree.
