very unlikely they'd tell you

but at my 15 wk scan (late 12 week) they kept referring to ds4 as he

usually 20 weeks they'll tell you though

FoghornLeghorn · 17/04/2008 17:17

You'll probably be told it's too soon to tell !

It is possible to tell but unless you are going private they tend to not say to cover themselves in case they are wrong

Yes my dh (a cardiologist) spotted ds's willy at 13 weeks (but he is used to looking at scans). Doubt very much that the sonographer would give anything away that early though.

mosschops30 · 18/04/2008 18:33

yes I went for my scan late at around 13/14 weeks, ds willy was clearly visible. We asked the sonographer beforehand if she would tell us, and she said yes if she could see and then shouted 'ooh no mistaking that then', even dh could see it and men are notoriously shit at looking at scans even their own

You can tell for sure 16 weeks after the birth. Getting sprayed during nappy changes is a sure sign.

slinkiemalinki · 18/04/2008 21:48

Yes - I was told at 12 - but they may not be willing to.

Lizthewhizz · 19/04/2008 18:04

I knew at 15 weeks. A friend of mine knew at 13. With this pregnancy, I'll be going for a private scan at 15 weeks again.

stephshaw · 20/04/2008 07:44

hi yes it is possible for them to tell at 15 weeks, its weather they want to tell u incase they get it wrong, i went to a private clinic 3 weeks ago to find out wot we was having we paid 79 pound, ,got my 21 week scan on 2nd may so gonna ask them wot they think im having as i got the pics here from the private scan to say that shes defo a girl

cosima · 20/04/2008 07:47

So if I went for a private scan at 15 weeks they would be able to tell me?

Disenchanted · 22/04/2008 15:53

Ive just rang the place that I had my previous private pregnancy scans at and he said earliest is 20 weeks

Do you think thats the 'earliest he will say' rather than they earliest he can tell?

Yes, absolutely - have a look here and in-gender.com has a whole forum of 12 week scans with ladies analysing the "nubs" at 12 weeks.
My doc (consultant OB and US specialist) told me at 12 and confirmed at 17, pointing out the scrotum!! As I said somewhere else, I sure do hope it's not a girl with one of those

Not if my private scanner wont tell me.
