Hi, I am 20 DPO, is this classed as a dye stealer or not? What are peoples experiences with easy@home tests for dye stealers?

Thank you

Um I guess? But whether it's a dye stealer or not doesn't make that any more positive 🤣

DC2023 · 09/08/2024 08:54

What do you mean sorry? @USaYwHatNow

Yes I would say so :) I got this exact result at 21 dpo and classed it as a dye stealer then I stopped testing with them after that

Peonies12 · 09/08/2024 09:46

What's a dye stealer? It's positive, what more do you need! Tests are yes/no. Nothing can predict the progress of the pregnancy but hope it continues well.

OhDearSmutty · 09/08/2024 09:48

Why are you still testing or caring at this point?

You're obviously preggo in the eggo so just stop.

DC2023 · 09/08/2024 13:12

@OhDearSmutty because unfortunately for women who have experienced 3 losses it's the thing that keeps them sane up until the first scan. Regardless of how accurate it is.

I had the strongest dye stealers I've ever seen with my last pregnancy. Even after I'd had my D&C for the MMC they found at 10 weeks. It took nearly 8 weeks to turn negative after my surgery.

I'm currently pregnant again and didn't even bother testing beyond a few times to make sure it wasn't a chemical. I'll never trust a pregnancy test again for development. I appreciate the anxiety though. If it helps you, it helps, but don't pin too much on it. They can be very deceptive :(.

It makes no difference to the outcome and why are you assuming I've never experienced miscarriages?

You're stressing yourself out more doing this.

What does ‘dye stealer’ mean?

OhDearSmutty · 09/08/2024 21:22

PensivePencil · 09/08/2024 20:14

What does ‘dye stealer’ mean?

It's where a test line ends up darker than the control line, supposedly stealing the dye from the control line. Which of course doesn't really happen.

Bluesea14 · 09/08/2024 22:03

I would stop testing at this stage x

DC2023 · 10/08/2024 05:51

it proves that the tests don't mean much, after a bowel movement this morning I've got a very light pink tinged loss, not sure if you can see from the photos? This is how my previous miscarriage started :(. Here we go again.

That looks like normal pregnancy discharge to be honest OP. I'm only saying this because I've been there, please stop testing and speak to someone you love and who cares for you. It's a really dark and hard place to be in but I promise you testing constantly won't be doing you any favours mentally. Sending you a cuddle xxx

DC2023 · 10/08/2024 16:59

@Shahhhh even the latest picture? Thank you, I could cry. I'm stopping testing. xx

Oh @DC2023 I've been where you are and reading your posts brought it all flooding back. @Shahhhh is absolutely right, this is a really hard time. Every day feels like a million years and you obsess and analyse everything.

I wanted to offer some reassurance too - I had pink discharge that progressed to heavy bleeding with clots during both pregnancies that resulted in my two healthy babies. Because I'd had previous miscarriages, I thought it was game over and was devastated. But I learned that sometimes there can be implantation bleeding, subchorionic haemorrhaging and all sorts of other minor issues that can cause bleeding in an otherwise normal, healthy pregnancy.

Obviously none of us know how things will turn out for you in this pregnancy but if I could go back in time and give myself advice, it would be to live in the moment. Today, right now, you are pregnant. Hold on to that little nugget of joy.

I'm crossing everything that this is your baby Flowers

DC2023 · 11/08/2024 03:31

@RedPandaFluff ahh thank you so much, your message has bought me to tears it's so lovely. I'm trying to remain positive but finding it hard. There is definitely a pink tinge on wiping, you can see the colour slightly in my underwear, what do you think? Thanks for your positivity! Xx

I know its scary, especially if you have miscarried before. I bled for my pregnancy in the first/second month. Didnt miscarry. So bleeding can be normal. If doing the tests calms you down, then do them. I did. But just know that the test can still be positive even if you have miscarried. I think about 2-3 weeks after a miscarry, you can still test positive. Try to distract yourself and your scan will be soon

RedPandaFluff · 11/08/2024 07:22

It's a tiny, tiny amount of blood and could be anything from old blood that has been dislodged by the stretching and moving that's happening in your uterus right now, to implantation bleeding caused by the embryo setting into your womb lining. Honestly @DC2023 it's impossible to say but I understand you're thinking the worst. I did too. And you know deep down that until you have your first scan, nothing can offer you any real peace of mind. Are you having a private scan at 7 weeks? Seeing a heartbeat at that point gave me some hope . . . but I still worried, naturally!

RedPandaFluff · 13/08/2024 18:43

How are you, @DC2023?

DC2023 · 13/08/2024 19:01

I had a scan yesterday, showed a gestational sac no yolk sac, had bloods done hcg 13,000 progesterone 87, mean sac diameter 10.6
Started with more bleeding today. Got repeat bloods tomorrow, I'm in tears

Im so sorry @DC2023 do you have support around you?

DC2023 · 13/08/2024 20:27

Yes I do I'm just super sad 😔 life is cruel, this will be loss number 4. Why is this happening to me 😔

OP posts:
RedPandaFluff · 14/08/2024 09:28

Ahhh @DC2023 I'm so, so sorry. Were they able to date the pregnancy and confirm that, at this stage, the yolk sac should be visible?
