@aapple67cherry try and look at it as your going to have a lush chilled out baby. I wouldn't worry unless the sonographer was worried.

So I ate cheesecake last night from a restaurant completely forgetting I'm not meant to am I 🙈 everything occasionally is okay right?

Yeah I have tried to see it like that haha fingers crossed and yeah sonographer doesn't seem worried at all. She was just a bit taken back that no matter what I did..shaking/moving/walking/jumping baby did not budge 😂😂 my Movement is very on and off and yesterday I didn't feel anything at all compared to a couple days ago I felt quite a lot but because I'm 20w people have told me not to be worried x

elb1504 · 23/09/2024 09:28

@herewegoagain123456 No cheesecake?! I've been eating loads of it!

@apple67cherry My last baby was like that, wouldn't budge on the scans or anything just looked like he was constantly sleeping! I've noticed a lot movements in the past week or so just coming up to 22 weeks so you may find a big change soon.

Anyone suffering or suffered with carpel tunnel? It's just started over the last couple of days but this morning it seems quite bad, anyone have any tips?

Odessa1 · 23/09/2024 13:30

Can I ask some views and opinions...my husband has tested positive for COVID today and our 20 week scan is due on Thursday so obviously he won't be coming. My mum lives nearby but is away on holiday so she can't come with me. All other friends and family are 1-2 hours away. I'm swaying towards just going by myself because I would feel bad asking someone to travel so far, especially as I've got to go to work straight afterwards anyway, but then I keep thinking...what if something is wrong, do I want to be there for that by myself?? What would you ladies do? Face it alone or ask someone to travel and come with??

Yea cheesecake made with soft cheese 🙈 well that's what I thought

Lidlisthebusiness · 23/09/2024 14:00

I've been to almost all of my scans, for all 6 children, on my own. Whether it's because I've needed someone to look after the other children, or because my husband has been away at work. So, in my opinion it'll be fine to go on your own, and the chance of something being wrong is minimal so I'd try and just be positive if I were you.

I have been to a few on my own due to childcare/ work commitments for my husband. Obviously it's nice to have someone with you but I'd personally go alone.

I'm pretty soft cheese is fine as long as its pasteurised which in the UK is standard - no way I'm living without cheesecake 🤣

My husband is deployed with the military so I’ve been to all scans and appts on my own so far. Had my 20w scan alone last week, I did have the same worry but all was well. You could ring and ask if there’s any appointments for a week later so your husband can attend?

superj21 · 23/09/2024 14:57

I had my 20 week scan today and relieved to see baby boy as healthy and wriggly as ever 😊 however I've got a low lying placenta (cervix is currently completely covered) so we have another scan booked for 32 weeks. They gave me a leaflet which said that 9/10 times the placenta moves up by the 32 week scan but can't help feeling a bit worried. I was / am keen to avoid a c section if possible but I understand if it doesn't move up then that's going to be my only option. Anyone had anything similar ?

superj21 · 23/09/2024 14:59

@OrangeSlices998 my partner is military too, he missed the 20 week scan but luckily made it for the 12 week. Hope your husband is back from his deployment soon !

He’ll be back in December sometime 😭 glad he made it for the first scan 🩷 we did a private scan during his leave so he could see what we were having. Is your partner away?

superj21 · 23/09/2024 16:18

@OrangeSlices998 we did the same too when we knew he wouldn't be able to make this one. Nah he's not deployed at the moment but his base is a 6 hour drive from home 😕

Lidlisthebusiness · 23/09/2024 20:09

@superj21 @OrangeSlices998 just popping an "I know what it's like" here for you, my husband served for 26 years, and now works abroad on rotation, so I've been where you are, and even now he's left, when I thought life would be 'normal'....well I suppose this IS out normal!

You mean I've avoided cheesecake in all my pregnancys and I didn't have too 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️ damn it!

Mine was like this with my second. All had moved by the 32 week scan and had a normal delivery

superj21 · 23/09/2024 20:24

@Lidlisthebusiness god that's a long stint! Mine has been in 6 and that's long enough.

Thanks @herewegoagain123456 that's good to hear! Fingers crossed mine will be the same 🤞

Redapple21 · 23/09/2024 21:56

@superj21 yes I had a low lying placenta in my last pregnancy. By 32 weeks it had moved up and all was fine. Hopefully you will be the same. Someone described it as though you have a deflated balloon and you put a dot of ink right by the opening. The more you blow up the balloon, the further away the ink dot will move. As the womb grows with the baby. This helped me to visualise it haha. X

retrievermum · 23/09/2024 22:22

@superj21 chances are all will be fine and it’ll move by itself BUT I had an emergency section with my first and just wanted to reassure you that although mine was a bit of a scary experience, the actual recovery etc of a c section was totally fine for me, and so if it comes to it, you’ll be okay! I know it’s not what you want (it’s not what I wanted either and I’ve really struggled with feelings of guilt) but my therapist has made it quite clear to me over and over that we don’t decide what happens, baby decides! Planned sections are meant to be lovely so if it happens, it’ll all be okay 🩷

retrievermum · 23/09/2024 22:24

I’m 21+3 and have been feeling movement for quite a while now, usually daily BUT it’s still soooo low down? I’d say top of my crotch more than belly! Anyone else in a similar boat? With DD it was all over all the time but this just seems so different

I'm 20+2 and yes I'm having the same !

superj21 · 24/09/2024 07:19

Thanks @Redapple21, was yours totally covering st the 20 week scan? I'm not sure if it makes a difference to the likelihood of it moving 🤔. Hopefully my midwife will arrange a chat with me once she's seen the scan..

@retrievermum I'm sorry you had to go through that as an emergency I can only imagine how scary that would be! I'm glad you found the recovery quite good though, that's one thing that really worries me. With any luck things will have righted themselves by 32 weeks 🤞

Redapple21 · 24/09/2024 07:23

@superj21 no mine wasn't fully covering I think it was partial. So yes I guess it's a case of 'wait and see' but the midwife should be able to reassure you some more. It's hard when you have in your head you would like a vaginal birth, but as others have said these babies seem to throw curveballs along the way! I was induced with my son and it wasn't a good experience for me, so I think I will actually ask for a planned c section this time. Hope you get the birth you want xx

superj21 · 24/09/2024 07:50

Thanks @Redapple21 I think I'll feel a bit better once I've spoken to the midwife.. feeling a bit blind right now, the sonographer was lovely but all she could do was give me a flier. Since then Google is just telling me all the scary stuff and saying about pelvic rest 🫣.

But yeah baby will make their own decisions and best laid plans can all go right out the window! Thanks for sharing your experience x

Piluka · 24/09/2024 12:00

Hi, came from my 20w scan and everything seems normal!!! Definitely we have a baby girl and she likes to show her bum. Hahahaha she did a moony the other day and today she thought it would be funny to do something similar.

Anyway, we had a creepy scan this time. She's ready for Halloween!!! Hahahaha last weekend we were watching Midnight mass on Netflix and as it's spookyish she probably wanted to join.

Btw, any of you know where I can get the MATB1 I thought my midwife would send it to me, but I don't know how to contact her or if there's somewhere I should go (gov website, etc) any ideas please? 🥺🙏

Hey @superj21 i hope everything's fine for you and probably it would rearrange itself as it grows. But I guess talking with the midwife would reassure you.
