I have just tested positive today with a due date of 2 February. Have had a look and I can't see that anyone else has started a group for Feb yet. Is there anyone else out there who would like to join?

@Josiedis welcome and congratulations.

I have feel the same pressure/ heaviness when I lie on my back. I’ve also thought it was far too early for that. So it’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one.

@UrbanSquirrel good luck tomorrow. Let us know how it goes. Who is expecting better? I’m sure some people don’t feel sick and go onto have successful pregnancies xxx

UrbanSquirrel · 16/06/2024 16:10

@dreaminofholidays It's by Emily Oster - I've seen it recommended elsewhere on Mumsnet so thought I'd give it a shot. It's certainly interesting - but perhaps not the most reassuring in this particular case ☺️

Roxttc · 16/06/2024 16:18

I’m 6w 2d now, not had any nausea at all just boobs that get sorer each day, heartburn has started and some cramps. I’ve been testing every other day or so as a way of managing anxiety and because I just do not feel pregnant lol but today after not testing for a few days I did and it was slightly lighter - googled and read about hook effect, diluted my pee so it was 75% water and got the strongest positive I’ve had so I think it’s officially time for me to step away from the tests and try and chill out until our scan in 3 weeks.

First scan tomorrow. Eek. Wish me luck.

I bought Expecting Better yesterday and almost wish I hadn't now, because she keeps going on about the fact that feeling sick is a really good sign and lack of nausea is linked to miscarriage. I haven't felt sick at all, and have been only partly reassured by various other sources which say it doesn't mean anything at all, just that I've got lucky. Argh. Maybe there is such a thing as doing too much reading? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Well. Let's hope that tomorrow it all looks OK for 7 weeks (deep breaths)... 🤞🏻

Good luck @UrbanSquirrel !
I've still 12 days to wait until the first scan and each day feels like an age.
I've had a couple of waves of nausea, but I don't even know if they are pregnancy related, just remember everyone's pregnancy and symptoms are unique!
Sending love and can't wait to hear how it goes :)

UrbanSquirrel · 16/06/2024 16:35

Oh thank you @susie1984234 🤗 x

Roxttc · 16/06/2024 16:37

@UrbanSquirrel Good luck tomorrow!! I don’t have any nausea either but just trying to stay positive. NHS website does say 3 out of 10 people don’t so maybe we’re just lucky or it’s not hit us yet! X

UrbanSquirrel · 16/06/2024 16:40

Thanks @Roxttc - and yes you're right, it's true that plenty of people must get through without it, even if it is less commonly. In fact since posting earlier I've found out that neither my mum nor MIL had nausea so that's boosted my confidence somewhat ☺️

TTCJourney321 · 16/06/2024 16:55

Hi all, I know I am a ball of anxiety and I have been testing every other day with consistency of the line getting darker. However today the line has got much lighter, Has anyone had a similar thing or know if I should expect the worse?
I should be around 18dpo with todays test, Ive also had light spotting, but I have a bicorunate uterus so that is quite common.

I had a mmc a couple of months back so apologies now for being overly worried!

@TTCJourney321 Have you tried a digital test with weeks indicator like Clearblue? That might reassure you in terms of a progression. I remember seeing on here that others had variable results from line tests, so hopefully one of the digitals will be able to give you greater comfort. (I used only digital this time because I've had frustrations with line tests in the past 😉)

TTCJourney321 · 16/06/2024 17:19

@UrbanSquirrel thank you so much for your response! I have actually done one a few days back and have another one from
that pack so I will maybe give that a go tomorrow/ tuesday. I would be 5w+1day by tues so it SHOULD say 2-3weeks by that point right?

This is only anecdotal but my friend is currently 16 weeks pregnant and has absolutely no sickness at all!

Yes probably. Everyone varies of course. I was on 2-3 up until 5+6, at which point it switched to 3+. But I've seen others on this thread saying that some people never get to 3+ so again it seems to be a scarily individual thing 😬

TTCJourney321 · 16/06/2024 18:50

@UrbanSquirrel Its such a mind field! I think the spotting and then this has sent my mind into an over drive.

My bloods were at 93 on 16dpo which my doc said was ok but I am cautious that was quite low so that too adds to my worry!

Me too! I got out my copy this morning and read and thought the same thing! 🙈 There's plenty of time for nausea later, enjoy these days and weeks while you can!

I enjoyed all the little changes and stages for my first born. But now all I can remember is how uncomfortable I felt, and now thinking I have so many months to go! 😅

UrbanSquirrel · 16/06/2024 20:01

@Mamma364747 Thank God it isn't just me 😂 x

Mamma364747 · 16/06/2024 20:03

I'm feeling quite bloated at the moment even though I'm not eating a huge amount. I still have a winter belly and it's annoying how pregnant it makes me look and feel when I'm not actually showing yet.

dreaminofholidays · 16/06/2024 20:04

@TTCJourney321 i think this part of early pregnancy is so tough. Particularly following a loss. Just constantly looking for symptoms or analysing every twinge or the lack of.

I’ve done the CB digital weeks too. Just to give me a feel that my levels are rising. So might be worth a go but if you may feel more anxious, then just avoid it.

i swear time is going so slowly at the moment! X

UrbanSquirrel · 16/06/2024 20:20

OK guys, here's a challenge. I posted earlier about a book which gave me a bit of a wobble. Which pregnancy books have you got and how do you rate them? Are they informative? Helpful? Funny? Comforting? I'd love to know which other books are worth having.

I'll kick off with the books I have:-

  • The Modern Midwife's Guide to Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond by Marie Louise - [my thoughts] Not massively helpful yet, as she scoots through the first trimester very rapidly, but I think it might be much more useful later on. Lots on how to look after yourself, exercises to prepare for birth, things to think about in advance of labour, and the first stages of dealing with a newborn. But not really organised in a way that I find particularly clear at this stage.

  • Pregnancy for Men: The whole 9 months by Mark Woods - I bought this for my husband, but actually this has been the most useful book so far! Chatty, funny and down to earth - and, best of all, arranged month by month with advice on what to expect each month, and how best to pamper your partner (that's us!) at any stage. Definitely the clearest organisation I've found so far.

  • Expecting Better by Emily Oster - the author is an economist and has trawled through a lot of scientific studies to find out what they actually say about stuff like, pregnancy symptoms, what we should or shouldn't eat, etc. It's absorbing in an abstract sense as a science / economist book, but as I said earlier some of its conclusions - namely, lack of nausea could well be a Bad Thing - are unsettling. Noteworthy for the fact that Oster says there's no proven issue with light drinking during pregnancy - not that I have the confidence to test that just yet!!!

  • Cribsheet by Emily Oster - getting a bit ahead of the game here, as this deals with newborns, weighing up data from scientific studies to clarify advice on things like breastfeeding, sleep training, potty training and developmental milestones. But might help for some planning further down the line.

  • The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read by Philippa Perry - the author is a psychotherapist (and wife of Grayson Perry). This has a broader canvas about how to manage relationships but there's a lot about dealing with babies and children, and I thought it might help us clarify the way we want to parent further down the line.

What do you recommend? 🤓 📚 x

Pepsix · 16/06/2024 20:47

Got my first positive this morning, feeling super anxious already due to a dull cramping pain 🫣
roughly 4w 3d and desperate for things to progress 🤞

CxCxTtc2024 · 16/06/2024 20:55

Has anyone contacted their midwife and sorted out their booking appointment yet?? Or is it too early?? I had mine last time 2 weeks before I had the m/c so it seems better to wait maybe.

Lemonbalm8 · 16/06/2024 21:35

@CxCxTtc2024 how many weeks are you? I'm probably going to wait until 5 weeks to do it 🙏🏻🤞🏻

Even the control lines are different, so I wouldn't say it's lighter. I would try weeks digital test. May I ask why you did bloods?

CLJ123 · 16/06/2024 22:10

@Lemonbalm8 Trying to stay positive but its really hard. I had one previous mmc and due to the spotting they wanted to check (I think I also gave off quite high anxiety to them also tbh!)

I will give one of the week indicators a go and see what comes of it!

I don't have any books yet but I just wanted to say thank you for these and the helpful summaries! I think I'll defo get Pregnancy for Men for my partner (and me 😂).

CxCxTtc2024 · 16/06/2024 22:40

@Lemonbalm8 I'm not actually sure... my LMP was 2/5, but I have a feeling I ovulated really really late, as I did a test on CD32 and it was negative. So according to the due date calculators I am either 5 or 6 weeks, I'm going to go with 5 even though it means waiting longer 😮
