@Lillers Aurora is really lovely too ๐Ÿ’• I went to Formentera a lot as a child and there was a little girl on the island who used to draw pictures with me (I still have them) she's the only one I have ever come across. It was an option for us as she was such a gorgeous little free spirit and the lovely name has stuck with me for all these years. Rora and Rory are such cute nicknames too ๐Ÿฉท

TripleESept24 · 24/05/2024 19:56

@Lillers Aurora is amazing!! And so nice that we could see those northern lights that just tops it off and makes it perfect ๐Ÿฅฐ

Esme Ira is our full name

@MudandMoet My partner's Auntie was Jamaican and actually called Esmita but was called Esme. He keeps asking if birth certificate we do Esmita but call her Esme but I'm not sure!!

And oh my god!!! The freebies!! I already have the bottle and another and breast pads, got pack 1 today mum to be, didn't have any pack 2s bump to baby! Pack 1 was absolute crap! Just full of leaflets and some always dailies pads! ๐Ÿคฃ

The pack of breast pads I got is massive a pack of 40 I expected just a few!

TripleESept24 · 24/05/2024 20:24

Omg random question!!! Just buying bedside crib sheets, and swaddle wraps. Does baby need a cellular blanket aswell!? Or do you just put them in their swaddle wrap? ๐Ÿค”

mrsbgb · 24/05/2024 20:46

@MudandMoet @TripleESept24 possibly a dumb question but how do you get these freebies?! I keep seeing people mention them and I love free things but havenโ€™t worked out what I need to download/do to access them!

Iโ€™ve bought a couple of the lovetodream swaddle bags off Vinted which say theyโ€™re for cool weather which Iโ€™m assuming might be September / October temperatures, but no idea what else baby might need! I think theyโ€™ve got something on their website about the layers baby should be in depending on their temperature?

Download Emma's diary app! Also boots parenting club if you have a boots card you get freebies through there.

I have ordered some swaddle wraps and cellular blankets I gathered I'd use the blankets anyway! And when it gets really cold they mad need both?

One of my friend uses the love to dream swaddle bags and swears by them , then my other friend her midwife came to visit and told her not to use it!! So she was too scared and has sold hers on vinted! I've just gone for the wrap/blankets

Xur · 24/05/2024 21:14

Is anyone planning to do a pregnancy photo shoot?

WinsandSam · 24/05/2024 21:16

@mrsbgb if you sign up on the Emma's diary app you get the 3 free bags from boots or Argos.

Boots have a parenting club you sign up to online I've never figured out how to get anything though?

WinsandSam · 24/05/2024 21:17

Hi all
Sorry if tmi.
When you all say you feel like baby is kicking your cervix, do you mean you feel it really low down. Past few days I've felt something really low and like baby is trying to get out or something. It feels like she is trying to escape now...Scares me a little bit

SC126 · 24/05/2024 21:28

@WinsandSam if they kick your cervix you will know about it. Its like lightning crotch and its like a sharp shock for a second. You will jump out your skin ๐Ÿคฃ

Lillers · 24/05/2024 21:48

Omg I got my first bladder kick this evening - that was not pleasant! Literally just sitting there minding my own business, and suddenly a sharp kick to the bladder and nearly wet myself ๐Ÿ˜‚

WinsandSam · 25/05/2024 09:03

@Lillers ๐Ÿคฃ it's wild isn't it!! Then it passes and no wee needed!

PoppingUp · 25/05/2024 09:45

Has anyone noticed any Braxton Hicks yet? The bottom of my belly went really hard for about 30 seconds this morning, sort of like if baby was pressing their bum against the wall of the womb except covering more area.

I did have a Chinese takeaway last night so wouldn't be surprised if I was a bit dehydrated this morning and that is meant to be something that can bring them on.

Intrigued though by all the chat online about how they're 'uncomfortable not painful'. Do people just use uncomfortable as a bit of a euphemism when something hurts but they don't want to say that it hurts or are people describing two different sensations? Things like this are so subjective!

Lillers · 25/05/2024 10:28

@PoppingUp I know itโ€™s not the point of your post but I really fancy a Chinese takeaway now ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cat2022 · 25/05/2024 11:15

@PoppingUp I had them yesterday and I would say they did hurt a little reminded me to slow down a little and drink lots of water.

for the bedding chat we had one cellular blanket last time but she always kicked any blankets off her legs so I used the love to dream swaddles and then just sleeping bags. Had a few fleecy blankets that were useful for putting on top for getting in and out the car.

HRP1990 · 25/05/2024 12:15

Iโ€™ve just given my toes a gel pedicure for our holiday next week and itโ€™s safe to say.. thatโ€™ll be the last time I do that myself. The positions I had to get myself in to paint to a decent standard! I deserve a medal ๐Ÿ˜‚ 100% treating myself to a salon appointment next time. Hard donโ€™t recommend!

WinsandSam · 25/05/2024 12:21

@HRP1990 woah, that's impressive!! I had to pay someone to do mine today ๐Ÿ˜… don't think I could manage with this big lump in the way. Well done you

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Wise decision lol!

rupertbear91 · 25/05/2024 13:11

@HRP1990 I'm impressed you managed I struggled to just cut my toe nails this morning also thought that will be the last time I can manage that ๐Ÿ˜‚ not broached the topic with the other half yet when I tell him it's his new job ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 25/05/2024 14:55

When toenail cutting becomes gymnastics ๐Ÿ˜‚ I need mine doing too.

With my first pregnancy I used to love my husband doing mine. I used to make him shave my legs too and I'd lay back in the bath n get him to massage a shaving foam on then do it - it was so relaxing I'm actually looking forward to not being able to do them again ๐Ÿ˜‚

He used to thoroughly enjoy shaving my lady garden too ๐Ÿ˜‚ only time he got to see it ๐Ÿ˜‚

Edited

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I was going to say.. letโ€™s get a list going for the fellas!

  • Trim toe nails
  • Maintain lady garden

anything else we canโ€™t manage?

rupertbear91 · 25/05/2024 15:26

Mine has already said he won't shave anything above my knee ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ not sure how I'm going to cope!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 25/05/2024 15:32

@HRP1990 Things we actually can't manage...or things we pretend we can't manage to get out of doing it?!... ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‚

Xur · 25/05/2024 15:40

@PoppingUp I think itโ€™s subjective. When my friend started having Braxton hicks about 7 months in she said it felt like someone put a knife up her vagina and started twisting it. I think she meant more than uncomfortable.

SpicyMoth · 25/05/2024 16:38

Awh thanks @Xur ! I liked it too, but it's honestly been ruined through and through for us at this point, I'd love it if it weren't but thinking or hearing it just makes me sad now and I don't want to be in a situation where I feel sad thinking about my wee boy!

Ugh, getting down to trim the toenails or shave legs or elsewhere ๐Ÿ‘€ is HELL for me too rn, just brings up SUCH bad heartburn squishing all my insides up into my chest</3
Wish I could ask DH to help out, but I feel SO awkward & embarrassed asking - especially so now that the swelling has started up.
Last night I experienced my first bout of proper swelling, my calves, ankles and feet all BALLOONED to the point my socks were leaving me with itchy, sore, red elastic marks!
I swear to god, they look like actual pig trotters atm - always had quite petite/cute ankles, not so much anymore!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…
