Multiple Chemical Pregnancies - Success Stories Welcomed

Hi Ladies , Hope you are all well. I'm 34 and my partner is 40. We started TTC in December 2023.

In March I got my first positive test 🙌 and then lost it a few days later 20th March 💔 I was 4 weeks and 2 days.

In April I got my second positive test 🙌 on 16th April and then lost it on 26th April 💔 I was 5 weeks and 3 days

I'm on a new cycle now and I'm scared that if we get caught it will result in another chemical pregnancy 😔

My GP is going to ring me on Wednesday for a chat. I've heard that GP's won't review me until I've had 3 losses 😢 This is awful.

We feel blessed that we can conceive, we just need my body to accept rather than reject. I'm wondering if I need progesterone?

Has anybody got any success stories to share? 🌈👶

Thanks ❤️

Sorry to hear about your losses it is truly heartbreaking 😢
I had a missed miscarriage followed by 2 chemical pregnancies last year.
I started taking vitamins recommended by it ‘starts with an egg’ and gave my body a break for a couple months to get my hormones regulated again.
I am now currently 34 weeks pregnant!!
I hope this gives you some hope and reasurrance!
not saying those things were the answer to staying pregnant but letting my body recovery a bit more made me feel better!
you can ask the GP to take a full blood count to check everything else is ok, and I was also going to get a women’s health scan privately to check the thickness of my lining but fell pregnant before I could.
sending lots of hope 🌈🤍🤍

Thank you so much for replying ❤️ Massive congratulations on being 34 weeks , not long to go now. Wishing you a safe delivery.

I have private healthcare with my work and I spoke with a GP on Monday night. He is going to write to my GP regarding my call and suggest a blood test / ultrasound / see a gynecologist or maybe a fertility specialist. He did say that it all depends on the GP.

Now when I spoke with the early pregnancy unit last week when I was miscarrying, they said to test on Thursday (just gone) and if I am pregnant (I'm not) then they would have booked me in for a scan and provided me with progesterone until I'm 12 weeks.

I truly believe that I need a blood test and that when I get my first positive next time, the doctors need to prescribe me progesterone to help the lining of the uterus accept.

I've been taking pregnacare daily. I've also read that a low dosage of aspirin helps.

I hope one day I can return to this post and update you and say that I've got my 🌈👶 xx

Sorry to hear that. I would say it’s very encouraging you’ve got pregnant so easily, and do remember that a lot of women have chemical pregnancies they don’t even know about. I had a MC at 11 weeks last year and I’m now 18 weeks pregnant- we waited a few months to try again, give my body a break. Most MC are due to chromosome issues with the embryo so there’s nothing you can do, it’s like natures way of not continuing a pregnancy that won’t work. I wouldn’t be getting too into the weeds with the GP, tests etc at this stage, your situation is very common-I do think the 3 losses rule is a bit much and they should investigate after 2 losses.

Peonyyyy · 04/05/2024 08:04

I had a mc and then a chemical before my son was born. When I got pregnant with him I had already started taking low dose aspirin (150mg from before ovulation) and then got progesterone.

I am now pregnant with our second and am on the aspirin and progesterone again, have had some brown spotting but we have a scan on Tuesday so feeling hopeful still.

Im a big believer in low dose aspirin in particular and believe that it’s the reason my son is here. It helps with implantation and blood flow to the baby through the placenta.

good luck x

@leanne2105 so sorry to hear of your losses. Last year I had 3 early losses before 6 weeks. I had subclinical hypothyroidism and gp wouldn't treat until it went over a certain level.

GP wouldn't prescribe progesterone either so I went privately to a gynecologist and he prescribed thyroxine and progesterone, blood thinning injections and low dose aspirin. I'm currently 7+4 and this is the furthest I've gotten since my first born 4 years ago.

Definitely push to go privately as I couldnt get over how quickly I got sorted with guidance and meds x

Peonyyyy · 04/05/2024 08:19

Agree @T2024

You may need to go private. Twice now I have used Nova fertility, you have a consultation with a consultant over Zoom and then they email you a letter with the progesterone recommendation and prescription.

I then used this to call my hospital’s gynaecology unit (or EPU) and was able to explain my previous losses and email them the letter, the doctor then did prescribe me progesterone and I was able to get it with just the NHS prescription charge. The private progesterone prescription is expensive (£150) so it’s good to get it on NHS if you can.

it might help more to refer to your chemical pregnancies as miscarriages as this can help them take it more seriously (you might not have a problem, but just in case)

Thank you all for your messages. I really appreciate it. I'll provide you all with an update on how my journey goes xx

Hi Ladies,

Just thought I would update you all. I had a chat with my GP last Weds and he has agreed for me to have a blood test (Next Tues) and he is allowing me to have a pelvic ultrasound. I am just waiting for a letter to come through with an appointment from the hospital. My GP is hopeful that 3rd time lucky I will be fine. If I do experience another loss he will then refer me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.

AF is due 24th May - I'm currently 2DPO .... Wish me luck xx

Hi Ladies , Just an update. I had my bloods taken yesterday (NHS) around 7 samples. The nurse explained that I was being tested for anything that you could think of - Hormones , thyroid , liver , kidneys , sugar etc.

Today I logged on my NHS app and my results came back same day ... How good is that?

Results - All normal and OK - No concerns :)

I am relieved nothing has flagged up. Just waiting for my pelvic ultrasound appointment to come in now.

Period is due Friday , let's see if we have got a seed planted again this month x

I have got everything crossed for you! Did you do anything different this cycle? Sending so much baby dust!

T2024 · 05/06/2024 15:57

Aww congratulations, that's such good news! How are you feeling?

I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow and absolutely petrified 🙈 even though I had a good scan at 10+6. Just really want to have a successful pregnancy, it would be a dream!

leanne2105 · 05/06/2024 16:23

@Eatsleepbakerepeat Thank you so much ❤ I didn't do anything different , we just BD and managed to catch again. We must be super fertile.

@T2024 I've noticed that I am peeing more than usual 😂 When 3pm arrives in work I tend to feel really tired. Good Luck for tomorrow , I'm sure everything will be OK. Drop us a message on here 🙂Have you had many symptoms?

I’m so sorry for your losses

I have a very similar story to you and hope yours carries on as mine did…

I got pregnant in October 2022 but it ended at 6 weeks. I then got pregnant again the next cycle but this also ended in a loss at 6 weeks. I then got pregnant again the following cycle (got my bfp on 16th December 2022) and this baby stuck and is now 9 months old.

I thought I had a progesterone problem too as I always spotted before my period for 4-5 days and had tests twice which both showed fantastic progesterone levels and they told me it’s very unlikely linked and early losses are extremely common

If you’re worried about progesterone ask for tests 😊

allgoodthings84 · 05/06/2024 18:09

Oh I didn’t realise it wasn’t a new thread 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m sorry. Congratulations! I hope things go smoothly this time 😊

Haha that is a symptom that I had early on too, peeing way more than normal and a daily nap was needed if I could fit it in lol

Symptom wise, I was just tired, had strong food aversion but no sickness thankfully. Symptoms started to calm down at 9ish weeks and have very few now. Have you had any nausea etc?

Will update tomorrow, really hoping this is our little rainbow baby and I can start to feel more optimistic about our journey. Its so different after previous losses x

leanne2105 · 06/06/2024 11:26

@T2024 Are you still peeing loads at 12 weeks? or has it calmed down? I just get major anxiety as I get scared to wipe and see blood.

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and so far no nausea ❤the furthest I've gotten.

Let me know how your scan goes. xx

OP posts:
T2024 · 06/06/2024 15:18

It calmed down thankfully but was wild at the start, scared me as I thought it would worsen! Totally understandable re wiping, its a scary time but hopefully with each day you'll feel safer. Have you booked any scans with EPU or private?

Scan went well thank god, baby was bouncing, such a relief after the past years experience. So fingers crossed it continues to be successful ❤

leanne2105 · 07/06/2024 09:17

@T2024 Good Morning :) Happy Friday. Today is a big milestone for me .... I'm 6 weeks 🙌

So happy for you 💛 Glad your scan went well and baby is active and doing well. When is your next scan? Will you be finding out the sex?

So the NHS have cancelled my appointment for 17th June , I think they have realised that this scan was for my first every pregnancy. I've just booked an early scan for 22nd June - I will be 8 weeks and 1 day.

Did you go for an early scan?

OP posts:
T2024 · 07/06/2024 14:00

@leanne2105 that's such a good milestone, keep setting little goals to get to certain weeks and it'll go in easier.

I'll be consultant led with this pregnancy, so I'll have a scan at 16 weeks I think then 19 weeks for anomaly scan, it's absolutely surreal.

Good idea on the private scan, by 8 weeks they'll look more baby like too ❤ I had 3 private scans and 1 EPU scan from 6-11 weeks. They're so good!

leanne2105 · 07/06/2024 15:29

@T2024 Thank you 💛 Keep you posted x

Lemonade991 · 20/06/2024 19:14

So sorry I'm coming to this late and resurrecting this thread. How are you getting on, OP?
Our dates line up almost exactly. My first CP started 21 March (5 weeks exactly), and my second loss was 5 May (6w1d). AF has only just showed up - we didn't try again last month as I had hardly bled during the MC and a private consultant we saw through my work said to take a month off as my lining would likely be bad quality as a result. I was also completely broken emotionally, to be totally honest. We're planning on trying again this month, so reading this thread has been so reassuring. Hope you're doing well!

leanne2105 · 21/06/2024 09:02

Good Morning @Lemonade991 I'm sorry to hear about you , sending lots of love and strength. Please do not give up 💛maybe next time 3rd time lucky?

I'm 3rd time lucky 💚💚💚Today I'm 8 weeks. Tomorrow I'm going for a private reassurance scan at 10am,

I will drop you all a message on here to let you know how we get on xx
