I breastfed my daughter for 3 years
Didn't have a bloody clue what I was doing, if it wasn't for one of my midwives actually knowing a bit about breastfeeding it wouldn't have happened for us.
Midwives are not trained in breastfeeding, make sure you located some infant feeding support so an IBLCL registered lactation consultant, just make sure you have their number/email ready, maybe even make contact before you have the baby to check how a consultation would work if you need one.
My second piece of advice would be to join a breastfeeding group on Facebook so you can learn about normal infant sleep and feeding behaviours, I joined one a couple of months before I had my daughter. A lot of mums stop because of a lot of avoidable problems, mostly misunderstood normal behaviour.
Thirdly, I really recommend this book I've just read, it's called "A judgement free guide to infant feeding, boob, bottle and all" by a lovely lady called Olivia Hinge. I can't recommend her enough, she has loads of free helpful content on her instagram as well.
I would also find out where any local breastfeeding groups are to you, if you're luckier than me you might have one nearby.
Also like remember it's not all or nothing, if you feel like breastfeeding is becoming too much for you.. you can do both. Any breast milk will benefit your baby enormously.
