Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

@OnNaturesCourse I've definitely had this before when breastfeeding in the earlier days

DP made a comment about my nipples being darker atm, not that I'd particularly noticed. I'm sure I read somewhere it's so the baby can see your boob better, they don't have very good sight when their first born

It all sounds normal to me!

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2024 20:13

I'm hoping the other one catches up! My nipple area is double the size. At this rate baby will only be able to see that one lol

Does anyone have newly veiny boobs?

DH has pointed it out tonight and upon inspection they are both super veiny but one more so, and that one also has a super large areola compared to the other.

I can't remember this with my others, is it normal? Especially since it's more on one than the other.

Hi, no idea if it's normal but I have it too, plus stretch marks on the bigger boob. The stretch marks have been there weeks though.

OnNaturesCourse · 16/10/2024 20:48

It's very strange isn't it.

I'm going to try and not hyper focus on it for a week when my next midwife appointment is, if they've not evened out by then I'll mention it.

Yes to both of these! One is absolutely huge 😅 x

Oh sorry, one of mine has always been bigger than the other, so it's not unusual for me. I do think the veining and stretch marks are normal.

@Bluesea14 isnt it strange?!

GammaTheGecko · 17/10/2024 18:48

Same here, one nipple has got so much bigger (it was always slightly larger) and the other looks like it's barely grown at all! Can also relate to the 'scaly' feeling, especially on the bigger one, it's just like the skin has got harder somehow. I feel a bit worried about the asymmetry but I've been leaking colostrum since about 16 weeks and neither nipple has leaked more than the other so I think it's just cosmetic and doesn't seem to impact function hopefully🤞

@RedRobyn2021 exactly the same here, my partner mentioned they're darker but I hadn't even noticed!

RedRobyn2021 · 17/10/2024 20:02

Mine have been a bit itchy with dry skin, so I put some nipple balm I had from my first on which helped.

Anyone else have discomfort in their pelvis? I have aching and discomfort really low down, I swear I'm carrying this baby much lower than my first which I carried really high

I keep thinking if I'm this uncomfortable now how am I going to feel in 10 weeks 😭

PermanentlyTired03 · 17/10/2024 21:49

@RedRobyn2021 yes! I’m carrying really low and needing to wee constantly! My first was breach so didn’t have any pelvic pressure. In some chairs I have to just stand up as I’m just too uncomfortable. If I walk too fast or too far I get strains in my lower abdomen, I feel like it’s hard to be even slightly active- it’s driving me mad as simple tasks like popping to the shop and taking DD to nursery are becoming really hard!

Orelinde · 17/10/2024 22:48

I have a baby clothes question: I’ve been given/bought about 10 lovely tops with sleeves and poppers under the nappies, but which don’t have any legs (so they’re not sleepsuits). What do babies then wear on their legs? Long socks? Tights? I’ve been advised not to use trousers etc at 0-3 months as gripping baby round the waist isn’t comfortable for them…?

OnNaturesCourse · 17/10/2024 23:06

@Orelinde tbh I only use these type of things as long sleeve vests in the winter. It's a shame as a lot of them haveovelt designs but your right about trousers, my DC were never comfortable in them.

Maybe just use them in the warm house as a bare leg option? Long socks might be nice if DC is a girl?

Lunamoon23 · 18/10/2024 07:54

@RedRobyn2021 I've had this for a long time, it eases off for a day or two but comes back. I'm certain little man is very low as I only ever feel movement down in my lower abdomen. Haven't really felt anything around my upper tummy/ribs yet. (31+4). It is unpleasant!

@Orelinde I've got some tops like this too but for a little boy, most came in a set with legging like bottoms for the legs where the waistband is super soft. So I'll pair them with them unless I find he's too uncomfortable in that. X

I had some like this and would put leggings over the top.

I keep thinking we have about 6 months until this baby arrives but have maybe 10 weeks left. Really need to start getting things organised as our Snuzpod is at the in law’s, most clothes are probably not suitable for winter so need to sort that out etc!

It's crazy how quickly time has gone isn't it. I kept putting off the nursery up until these past few weekends thinking 'I've got plenty of time'. Hugely regretted leaving it until I was 7 months pregnant 😂 but it's done now. And thankfully we have everything we need now just have the pram to collect closer to our due date. Nesting has fully begun for me though, I'm working my way through the house gradually. We've done 3 tip runs so far over the last few weeks 😂 xxxxx

RedRobyn2021 · 18/10/2024 20:04

Don't worry @Firsttimetrier you have ages!

We're putting up our cot, doing the car seat, getting the pram from the in laws all in about 4 weeks, so I'll be 35 weeks by then.

I have got most the baby clothes sorted. I only got 0-3 months with my first and they were huge on her when she was born 😂 so this time I got some first size which is up to 10lb. Got some amazing deals on Vinted and have some gorgeous Next sleepsuits. Just need to sort some vests too ♥️

I forgot how small they are when they're born, seeing the clothes was just so exciting

Have you made a list of what you need yet?

I made one and realised there's quite a few bits to get. I have an ergobaby omni for DD1 but I was thinking of getting an ergobaby embrace this time for the earlier months, I have a sling but I always found the carrier easier to get on quickly. Feeling quite excited about it actually, which isn't like me but the thought of having her here and feeding her and holding her, just fills me with joy

Firsttimetrier · 18/10/2024 22:19

@Lunamoon23 That’s exciting that you’ve sorted the nursery! I feel like we’re very much second baby vibes over here, so no nursery is planned and will sort it out when he’s closer to 5 months. Mainly because our toddler is still in the cot and sleeps well in there, so if it’s not broke, don’t fix it and all that!

@RedRobyn2021 haven’t made a list but we have everything from our first. It’s mainly collecting the newborn car seat, snuzpod, baby bath, Moses basket from the in law’s and sorting out clothes at the moment. We do need to order bits like a second sound machine, night light etc, but will do that closer to the time.
I think clothes will be a big thing. My son was born during the 40c heatwave in 2022, so will need to get some newborn cardigans/jumpers, pramsuit etc.
I got so much stuff on Vinted last time that I don’t know if it will work seasonally this time when they get older. My son was in his winter stuff at 3-6/6-9m, whereas this baby will be peak summer! So will probably need to sort through that at a later date and sell bits to rebuy bits!

Vinted has been an absolute dream for baby clothes! So many brand new items/items worn a couple of times for a fraction of the cost, best purchase so far is a white company pram suit for £2 🙌🏼

I’m 31 weeks and plan to do the nursery in a few weeks time, I just can’t believe how quickly it’s coming around!

Vinted is brilliant for baby stuff... and for selling baby stuff when they inevitably get 1 or 2 (or zero) wears out of it! 😂

I had a slight Vinted obsession when doing the middle of the night feeds with my first 😂. Was the only way I didn’t fall asleep when breastfeeding, plus was exciting to pick up parcels and not remember what I’d ordered lol.

However, sadly found the range of stuff gets worse as they get older. Most stuff in 12-18m+ is only a bargain if it’s nursery/playwear. All the new stuff/hardly worn works out the same price as buying brand new from a supermarket, which is a real shame.

Ladies, any second time mums who breastfed have any pearls of wisdom for me? I intend to breastfeed (although I'm not going to put pressure on myself and if it doesn't work out I'm happy to formula feed) but was thinking about it late last night when I couldn't sleep and thought about winter months and being wrapped up and thought 'I need to buy some cardigans for when I'm out and about and need to feed for easier access'. So I went online and brought a couple 😂 anything else you'd suggest. I'm going to a breastfeeding masterclass at my hospital in November xxx

I breastfed for 14months and maybe the first 8 weeks, I was self conscious of getting my boob out in public but after then, you just whip it out.

Aside from nursing bras, I personally didn’t buy any special clothes for breastfeeding or felt the need for them, just used to pull up my tops/unbutton shirts. Even in winter, I will do the same and just pull my jumper and tee up.

I think it’s personal preference but I don’t think breastfeeding friendly clothes are worth the money.

I breastfed my daughter for 3 years

Didn't have a bloody clue what I was doing, if it wasn't for one of my midwives actually knowing a bit about breastfeeding it wouldn't have happened for us.

Midwives are not trained in breastfeeding, make sure you located some infant feeding support so an IBLCL registered lactation consultant, just make sure you have their number/email ready, maybe even make contact before you have the baby to check how a consultation would work if you need one.

My second piece of advice would be to join a breastfeeding group on Facebook so you can learn about normal infant sleep and feeding behaviours, I joined one a couple of months before I had my daughter. A lot of mums stop because of a lot of avoidable problems, mostly misunderstood normal behaviour.

Thirdly, I really recommend this book I've just read, it's called "A judgement free guide to infant feeding, boob, bottle and all" by a lovely lady called Olivia Hinge. I can't recommend her enough, she has loads of free helpful content on her instagram as well.

I would also find out where any local breastfeeding groups are to you, if you're luckier than me you might have one nearby.

Also like remember it's not all or nothing, if you feel like breastfeeding is becoming too much for you.. you can do both. Any breast milk will benefit your baby enormously.

Synergy94 · 20/10/2024 08:20

Whilst we’re on the topic of clothes, I plan on baby living mainly in sleepsuits for the first few months and have already got some short sleeved bodsuits for underneath. But as we’re having winter babies, do I need long sleeve as well for particularly cold nights/days? Seeing mixed things online (I’ve attached a picture of the type of bodysuit I’m on about).
