Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

Is anyone else having a home birth?

I only have a little house and I don't think I'm going to have room for a birth pool and a Christmas tree, but it feels really sad not to have a tree ☹️ we usually buy a real one locally and we love doing it

I'm due on the 21st and was late with my first by almost 2 weeks, so wondering whether to risk it 🤔

Lunamoon23 · 04/10/2024 20:01

@LilyJessie oh are we?? Are you 30 weeks on Monday too? When's your due date??
Do you find it quite painful at times?? I'll be sat watching tv and it genuinely makes me jump and I feel I have to almost push baby up a little. When I had my last midwife appointment and she was measuring bump and doing the heartbeat, she had a feel around and said baby was head down, that was two weeks ago yday.

@RedRobyn2021 I'm feeling better today, but I've got abit of diarrhoea. I've had that quiet a lot the last couple of weeks though so don't know if it's related to yesterdays sickness. I can't complain really... I've escaped sickness thus far! But it doesn't half take it out of you when you already exhausted constantly 😂

You feeling baby grinding around in there now too? Do you find it can be quite painful? I swear sometimes it feels like his hand or foot is in my vagina kicking around 😂😂 makes me jump.

RedRobyn2021 · 04/10/2024 20:04

@Lunamoon23

Yes it does take it out of you, glad you're on the mend

Yes she jabs me sometimes, sometimes above my belly button which makes me jump or really low

Also sometimes feels like she's stroking me from the inside, that's quite cringey

Lunamoon23 · 04/10/2024 20:11

@RedRobyn2021 weirdly mind it always below the belly button. He feels like he's constantly laying really low, which I guess is why it feels although it's in my lady parts 😂

But agree, it's not a very nice feeling. Not as magical as the little kicks I was experiencing to begin with. 😂

LilyJessie · 05/10/2024 03:29

@Lunamoon23
Honestly, I read your post wrong... 🤦🏼‍♀️ You're exactly one week ahead. So I'm 29 weeks on Monday! First baby. Everything is new and exciting.

Anyone else getting very strong nesting urges yet?

Not here no

I'm going to be house/pet sitting for my parents for a month soon and when we come back I'll be 36 weeks, have already agreed with DP I want the car seat in and the cot up then.

I'll start batch cooking then too. When I was pregnant with my daughter I made 6 weeks worth of dinners so every evening it was super easy for us to have something healthy with minimal effort and washing up. It worked really, really well, so definitely going to do that again.

We've done general clearing out, but we try to do that regularly any way so our little house doesn't become too cluttered

LilyJessie · 05/10/2024 09:04

@RedRobyn2021
Yes we are gonna batch cook too.
What sort of things are you going to batch cook?
I was thinking, Bolognese, chilli, vegetarian chilli, curries, casseroles?

Orangeroses243 · 05/10/2024 09:53

Only just joined this thread. Congrats to all those due December time. I am end of so I guess could even be a new year baby!
Just reading through and batch cooking for meals is an excellent idea I am going to be doing this! We have just bought a new chest freezer too! Great tip for a first time mum to use! So excited and can't wait for December 🎄 🤗 x

Lunamoon23 · 05/10/2024 10:49

@LilyJessie haha yes, I've fully started nesting. So far we've had a huge house clear out, I've gone through all the kitchen cupboards, old clothes, etc etc. did two car fulls for the tip last weekend, I've painted our hallway aswell as all the bannisters. We're in the middle of the baby's nursery, then I plan on painting our two bathrooms and dining room 😂😂 I also have plans to go through our airing cupboard and throw away anything I haven't used in the last 6 months 😂 and with 10 weeks to go I'm sure I'll find something else too! And plan a weekend deep clean before baby's arrival.

In regards to batch cooking, annoyingly I have a really small freezer, but I've done a meal plan for two weeks. Nice and easy things DH can prepare and cook quickly, which I'll go buy the week of my c section (when I get the date) I am going to make a couple of things to freeze, beef stew, cottage pie and bolognese: but I don't have the room for much more!

I've not thought about it yet, but yes the usual things like chili & bolognese :-)

RedRobyn2021 · 05/10/2024 19:39

Another thing we did when I had my dd was switch to grocery deliveries, sooooo much easier honestly so I really recommend that too

We use Sainsbury's and their midweek delivery pass for a year is £40 or you can get "saver slots" which are 4 hour slots where they text you on the day to give you an hour slot, saver slots cost like £1

Lunamoon23 · 06/10/2024 14:12

Bit of a strange one ...

Does anyone feel like the top part of there vagina, you know where it meets your stomach is puffy?? I noticed it earlier when getting in the bath. Didn't know if it was normal or not. (First pregnancy) not concerned about it, just thought it was weird lol. Hope everyone's had a good weekend! We painted little ones nursery this weekend - really pleased with it but feeling pooped today! X

Orangeroses243 · 06/10/2024 14:27

@Lunamoon23 I think everyone is different and I have heard of this before. My first pregnancy too right now and I feel like mine in general has changed slightly ahah!! Might be due to extra fluid and blood. Even my other half told me that my vagina had changed a bit the other day 🤣 I was laughing like what on earth like how!? He was explaining it to me and it was just so funny. -- To confirm my partner is 100% supportive and this was said with love and positivity in response to a question I asked due to the fact I can no longer see my own 😆 xxx

RedRobyn2021 · 06/10/2024 14:32

@Lunamoon23

Do you mean your vulva?

Your carrying a lot of weight, so it sounds normal to me I think

Lunamoon23 · 06/10/2024 14:42

@Orangeroses243 hahaha bless him. I haven't noticed any different with the actual vagina itself except for that part 😂 just seems abit puffy where as usually it's pretty flat, but that makes sense actually, with fluid and blood etc!

@RedRobyn2021i think it's called the mons pubis from a google of it. The bit of skin that covers your pubic bone. If that makes sense, but no not the vulva. Xxxx

CatCaretaker · 06/10/2024 17:48

Haven't been able to see my mons pubis for weeks now so have no idea! Will ask dp later 😂

Haha I noticed it in the bathroom mirror when getting in the bath! I can't see it ether looking down. 😂 Xxxxx

Just came on to recommend this podcast episode, it's about delayed cord clamping. I wish I had known all this before I had my DD because she definitely wasn't delayed long enough but I didn't know any better.

One thing that I thought was really interesting, is that you can have delayed cord clamping when you have a c-section which I didn't realise, I know a lot of us are having CS so worth a listen

podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-birth-ed-podcast/id1485321117?i=1000661224247

It's called the birth ed podcast and it's their newest episode

CatCaretaker · 07/10/2024 12:10

@RedRobyn2021 during my hospital ante-natal classes they have mentioned that they do delayed cord clamping by default. I'm in ROI, I don't know if this is a HSE policy or just something my hospital do.

I'm not sure

I didn't know much about cord clamping with my first, I just told my midwife to delay it because I heard that was the best thing.

But then I accepted the injection for expel my placenta... not knowing the cord needed to be cut before they could give this time 😕 I really regret it but I just didn't know

CatCaretaker · 07/10/2024 12:35

@RedRobyn2021 oh yes, good point, will need to keep this in mind re. placenta injection. Thanks.

Lunamoon23 · 07/10/2024 19:47

@RedRobyn2021 from conversations I've had with my midwife, it seems delayed cord clamping is something they do as standard following a c section in the trust I'm with as she mentioned it before me. But I'll be sure to put it in my birth plan too xxx

Anyone else's back starting to get pretty sore?

Firsttimetrier · 09/10/2024 06:51

LilyJessie · 09/10/2024 06:45

Anyone else's back starting to get pretty sore?

I’ve just woken up and said to my husband my back is in bits. It’s all my lower back, round my tail bone/top of my bum.

Our mattress is quite soft and I don’t think it’s helping, so I’m going to try and sleep in our spare room where the mattress is slightly firmer.

Being on the birthing ball helps a bit through the day but sleeping/the morning is so painful!

I’m nearly 28 weeks, so don’t know how I’ll do another 10 weeks.

Lunamoon23 · 09/10/2024 07:49

@LilyJessie @Firsttimetrier I've had this since I was about 18 weeks pregnant (now 30 weeks) exactly as you describe, around the tailbone area. My midwife said it sounds like pregnancy related sciatica and sadly there is very little that can be done, just one of those things!

A few things I found help, I don't sit downstairs of an evening on the sofa, I get better support and rest of my lower back lying on the bed sat up against the headrest in the evenings.
Using my pregnancy fill at night, inbetween my legs.
And when getting up, take your time. Sit up and just sit for a minute, then stand for a minute before walking.
Also salt baths once a week.

I will say now at 30 weeks it's the best it's been in months. Probably started to ease slightly from about 27 weeks, but still noticeable but not as unbearable xxx
