Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

25 weeks.

I was in being checked over for reduced movements a few days ago and the treatment and judgement I got from the midwives is putting me off reaching out again. Was made to feel like a total waste of space and overly anxious Mother.

Lunamoon23 · 08/09/2024 20:17

@OnNaturesCourse that's really poor of them, and I'm sorry that happened to you. They shouldn't be making you feel that way, at all. But please don't let that put you off if you're concerned.. get it checked out and if you're made to feel that way again, report it.

It's literally plastered all over my baby passport that in the event of reduced movements you should seek help immediately, not wait, even if it's several times a week.
So they shouldn't be making you feel any sort of way about it.

But in the event you're experiencing Braxton hicks type pains I'd get it checked if it's causing you concern which it clearly is. Always better to be safe than sorry xxxx

OnNaturesCourse · 08/09/2024 21:01

@Lunamoon23 I know, my booklets all say reduced movement from 24 weeks onwards need checked. The midwives the other night told me I was too early to track movement and tried to brush me off. When I said my baby had a movement pattern from 18 weeks I was told along the lines of "if you'd like checked, you can be, but it's not recommended at this stage".

The braxton hicks seem to have eased. The only pain I get is when walking from my PGP now, it's agony but the midwives can't do anything about that. Baby is moving away fine too. To add to insult my nausea and indigestion has thrown itself into the mix tonight as well so I'm away for a early night in the hope tomorrow is a better day.

@Molly4689 yeah getting down to floor level (and back up again!) Is getting harder and harder!

Baby has accelerating overall growth and also accelerating abdominal circumference, now on 99th centile so I've started taking metformin and will have another scan next week to monitor that.
There was talk of section at 38w and I hadn't planned to start mat leave until 37+4 so that may need a rethink!

I managed to get my RSV vaccine booked in for next week though so that's one thing going right!

Synergy94 · 13/09/2024 18:26

Hi everyone, I’ve not posted on mumsnet since I was 10 weeks and am now 25 weeks. I’ve just been invited for my flu and covid vaccination. I’ve had covid four times (I blame being a teacher) and the thought of catching it in my third trimester is horrible! I was wondering if anybody else has had the vaccine whilst pregnant and can offer some reassurance as there isn’t much research out there 😊

I haven't had mine yet, and tbh my midwife hasn't mentioned it although I expected her too. I'm booked in for my flu and RSV vaccine at my 32 weeks scan (currently 26+5) although I had covid 2 weeks ago.
So I can't comment on the research side of things or offer any guidance except pregnant women have been having the jabs since they came out I haven't heard of any adverse effects. But I haven't looked into it in depth to be honest. X

Molly4689 · 13/09/2024 19:47

@Synergy94 I had it in my first pregnancy (work in the NHS) and no problems at all. Can book it from next week I think so will be having it and the flu vaccine in this one too. I'm struggling with breathlessness so worried about getting a cold and feeling like I can't breathe at all!

My GP surgery said they had been given 10 RSV vaccines so i'm not sure where I'm supposed to get that from (i'm 28 weeks tomorrow) but going to keep trying.

Wise0wl · 13/09/2024 20:06

@Synergy94 I had it in my first pregnancy and had no problems. Especially given the time of year our babies are due if I’m offered the Covid vaccine I’ll get it (and am planning to get flu and RSV too)

Speak to your midwife about it - she's booked mine to be done at my next scan appointment xxx

Synergy94 · 14/09/2024 07:37

Thank you so much @Molly4689 and @Wise0wl, just the reassurance I needed! I want to get the RSV one too but it appears almost non existent in my local authority at the moment, hoping more will become available as we move into the colder months.

Molly4689 · 14/09/2024 11:21

Thanks @Lunamoon23 but she didn't know either! I'm under an obstetrician and endocrinology (at a big maternity hospital) so have enquired through them but no more scans planned. Think I will keep asking at my GP surgery now i'm 28 weeks as would really like it.

Any ladies starting to notice water retention now?? I've noticed it in my legs, ankles and fingers xxx

No not yet, how many weeks are you now?

I'm 26 weeks, my bump is really large, I've had a few people comment on "how much longer now?" And look surprised when I said Christmas time 🤦🏻‍♀️ or comments of "I remember how uncomfortable I was at the end" 🙈

Lunamoon23 · 15/09/2024 20:48

@RedRobyn2021 I'm 27 weeks tomorrow. Yes my bump is huge too! I also get lots of comments - some say I'm "tiny" still and others say "oh, your quiet big aren't you". But the bump is certainly bumping!!

I actually had to take off my wedding and engagement ring last night because I noticed my fingers were quite swollen. I can definitely notice a size difference in my legs! And my ankles at the end of a working day are sometimes visibly swollen but I am on my feet all day. X

HopefulElle · 15/09/2024 21:13

@Lunamoon23 definitely in my lower legs and ankles in particular. The only thing that helps is elevating my legs but that’s just not very practical a lot of the time! I’ve been living in sandals, I don’t know what to do now it is getting colder! Fingers at times (when exercising/getting warm). I’m 28 weeks but legs have been like this for a good few weeks now.

Lunamoon23 · 15/09/2024 21:24

@HopefulElle I'm also still in sandals and was thinking the exact same last week! I'm thinking wide foot boots for winter months 🤞🏼 glad I'm not alone though! Yeah I've certainly noticed it more over the last couple of weeks!

CatCaretaker · 15/09/2024 21:56

I'm only 24 weeks but haven't had any swelling yet at all. When did it kick in for you all?

Ah if you're on your feet all day then swelling makes sense

Last pregnancy I wore those Ugg style boots a lot (they were actually the Next version), very unrestrictive but warm, easy to get on without having to bend down to tie laces too 😂

RedRobyn2021 · 16/09/2024 06:52

@Lunamoon23

I was pregnant during Covid last time and I worked from home, I saw virtually nobody for my whole pregnancy... so I'm wondering if the comments on my size are perhaps just what people do and not to worry too much.

Lunamoon23 · 16/09/2024 11:18

@CatCaretaker probably about the 24 week mark, but as I mentioned I am on my feet all day at work, so that's probably contributed.

@RedRobyn2021 oh yeah it's definitely something people just do - I've had it all. I've had people call me chubby, fatty, comment on my bump size being small, big ... as a first time mum, it's surprised me how freely people feel they can comment on a women's body when pregnant. X

CatCaretaker · 16/09/2024 14:10

Yep it seems to just be what people do. Within about a 2 hour span I had someone tell me I was very big for 23 weeks, another person ask me how I knew when my leave would be next year (she couldn't tell I was pregnant and didn't realise I meant maternity leave when I said I'll still be on leave then).

I had another person tell me I was having a boy based on the size and shape of bump (I already know we're having a girl).

RedRobyn2021 · 16/09/2024 15:31

Has anyone see their tummy move from the outside yet?

If she's kicking hard I can see a twitch!

Also how is everyone getting along with deciding on names? I feel like we have looked at all the names in existence but can't find anything we both really like 🤦🏻‍♀️

RedRobyn2021 · 16/09/2024 15:33

@CatCaretaker

Jeez!

It makes me feel really uncomfortable tbh

I keep worrying I'm going to have a giant baby 😂

I keep thinking, what if I go to my 28 week appointment and my midwife is shocked by the size of me

Lunamoon23 · 16/09/2024 18:15

@CatCaretaker it's kinda crazy how entitled people feel to make comments isn't it.. it upset me at first, some of the comments but I feel I've grown a thick skin to it now.

@RedRobyn2021 yesss!! I get this all the time! I've had this since about 25 weeks! Even managed to catch it on video! The sonographer told us at our 20 weeks scan that we have a very active boy though haha 😂 and I believe it, sometimes it feels as if he's doing acrobatics in there!

And name wise, we've agreed on two! And we've decided we will decide which one once we meet him, it is so hard though! I like quite unusual untraditional names too, I keep getting asked by customers if we've got a name yet... but I'm not disclosing it to them. I told one customer I like unusual names and she turned her nose up and said ' oh think of the poor child, it'll get bullied'. 😂 I was like ok thank you for that.
When I say unusual I don't mean crazy like, snickers or apple 😂 I just mean names you don't hear often. People are so judgy when you're pregnant and it's always those who have no relation to you or your baby that have the most to say I've learnt! Are you having a boy or girl? Don't have other children? Would you like them to sort of go hand in hand together? X
