Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

I think if you've only just had covid infection @Lunamoon23 then you've at least given your immunity a boost to it for the last trimester!

I remember I caught it for the first time when I was 10 days post partum after my first and I felt completely hideous, really felt like it set me back with recovery from a tricky birth and we were only just getting breastfeeding established too, it was horrendous, so I will definitely be getting the jab this time!
Just want to give myself the best chance of having a healthy 3rd trimester and not having any reason for baby to have to come early, or for baby to be unwell in the first month.

Lunamoon23 · 01/09/2024 20:12

@SouthwestSis oh absolutely! You have to do whatever is right for you, I'm by no means against the jabs (not a anti vaxer at all) but being that I've just had it, and I've had it twice before and everytime although feeling pretty rotten it hasn't been awful if you know what I mean.. I'll save my arm from that jab 😂😂 I may change my mind, my midwife might sway me..

Bluesea14 · 02/09/2024 17:17

Out of interest how often do you guys feel baby kicking/moving? I've read 10 times an hour is normal but I have times where she moves around 30 times in an hour. Apparently lots of movement can mean they are distressed so it's worrying me a bit! X

OnNaturesCourse · 02/09/2024 21:43

@Bluesea14 I didn't know we were meant to count them hourly. I know increased movements overall can be dangerous though. My bump seems to be getting extremely active the past few days, but it comes in peaks and then goes quiet for a while. Proper thudding movements that shunt my whole tummy. I feel them right through my middle section, very strange. Didn't have it in any of my other pregnancies. I would say any concerns contact the midwife or pregnancy unit, they'll best advise

CatCaretaker · 02/09/2024 21:48

@Bluesea14 At 23 weeks I've only started feeling definite movement in the last week (maybe 2). I definitely don't feel her every hour, but just somewhat randomly during the day, and almost like clockwork in the evening. I have no idea what's normal and what's not!

MaybeBaby2024 · 02/09/2024 22:33

Mine is most active at night when I’m in bed. And after I’ve had a meal.

Mines the same! 💙 I don't feel him much during the day when I'm busy at work, but once I'm home and relaxed and have had my dinner, he comes alive and doesn't stop wriggling around! I do notice the odd movement during the day and I'm sure he is moving around, I'm just too distracted and preoccupied to really notice it xxx

Yes, sounds very similar to mine. She's always very active on scans, but I can't feel any of that. It's just her bigger movements that I feel, mostly in the evening, but occasionally during the day at random.

Bluesea14 · 03/09/2024 09:05

Thanks, everyone! Maybe I just have an overly active baby 😅. I don’t actually count the movements, but I know it’s definitely more than the 10 or so they mention online—not every hour, though. I have a midwife appointment on Friday, so I’ll probably mention it then. X

Any ladies here having a ELCS as their birth preference? Starting to get really nervous now thinking about the birth!! 😬😬
First baby and never had surgery of any kind before, infact, I hate hospitals.

LilyJessie · 03/09/2024 19:23

I am 24 weeks along now and feeling little girl move lots. Especially when I'm laying down and especially after food. Not counting kicks yet as they're pretty sporadic. I'll try and start though if it's important.

Need to do my pelvic floor squeezes though. Have heard it really helps after.

I'm not going for ELCS, I'm hopeful to have a natural birth, but I'll do whatever is best for baby.
Lots of my friends and family have had ELCS (and emergency), and all have said that it is absolutely fine. That they all put everyone at ease and are amazing.

I had to have a cervical stitch and a spinal anaesthetic (similar to epidural) and was in the recovery ward with all the women who had just had their ELCS. And they put me so at ease the whole time, and all the women came out fine and we're all happy.

Is anyone doing NCT, and if so, when are people starting their classes?

This is mt first baby, I'm pretty nervous!

X

OnNaturesCourse · 03/09/2024 21:05

Is anyone else feeling super gassy? Like upper gas, I can not stop burping especially after my dinner. Even my DH has mentioned it lol

Yes im doing them! I'm due on the 30th December and will be doing mine from the 6-26th November x

Orelinde · 03/09/2024 22:53

I’ve been told that we don’t need to count kicks, it’s the pattern of movement that matters, and keeping an eye on that (ie if they’re normally moving after food when you sit down, are they doing that?).

That makes sense to me because a) why would they kick X times in an hour all the time? They’re not trained dancers. And b) as they get bigger, there is less room to move so you might not feel individual kicks but single bigger movements?

Also, yes this last week or so I’ve begun to get a burning sensation after I eat (heart burn/reflux?) and I keep burping! The midwife said Gaviscon is OK, and stay upright after meals, which is helping a bit…

OnNaturesCourse · 04/09/2024 07:11

@Orelinde where do you feel the burning? I always though it should be in your chest but mines is lower in my stomach.

Top of the chest around the breast bone - like it might come straight up the throat if I’m not careful. Mine def feels more like heartburn, I wonder if yours feels more indigestion-y?

OnNaturesCourse · 04/09/2024 13:49

I went to GP today who is pretty convinced it's bad indigestion but possibly caused by low stomach acid as I've been on a high dose omeprazole for a long time. I've been taken off them now, given a gaviscon type medication to take if heartburn returns and been told to wait it out a few weeks.

She said if it's just indigestion that bad on omeprazole then coming off it shouldn't make it worse nor make it better. If it's a acid issue then it will make it worse and we will need to address it. If it's low stomach acid I should see an improvement in a few days.

CatCaretaker · 04/09/2024 16:28

I'm getting a lot of ribcage pain on the right hand side, especially when sitting and towards the end of the day. Is anyone else getting that?

vanillaiceice · 04/09/2024 20:41

Hi all
i want to start soon with moisturising my nipples ahead of breastfeeding as with my other kids I suffered terribly from cracked bleeding nipples.
I see there’s lansinoh which I’ve always used in the past but many are recommending weleda.
anyone knows which one is better or are both basically the same?

Lunamoon23 · 06/09/2024 17:00

So I got weighed at my midwife appt yesterday ( requested to be, was curious) I've gone from 61.7kg to 70.6kg by 25 weeks Blush
Feeling quite deflated about that. Gone from 9st7 to over 11st. She assured me it was fine and my BMI was still a healthy 26. Started at 22. I'm 5ft4 for reference and have always been petite a size 6-8. Still got 14 weeks to go too! 🐷

HopefulElle · 06/09/2024 21:20

@Lunamoon23 I haven’t been weighed in ages but almost certain I’m the same! Trying not to worry about it but feels strange being bigger. I’m not allowed to do any vigorous exercise at the moment due to a low lying placenta so I’m actually really looking forward to getting back to that and slimming down in the New Year/once I’m recovered. For now just trying to relax about it and enjoy pregnancy/Christmas! X

SouthwestSis · 08/09/2024 13:49

How's everyone feeling this weekend?
Had some concerns on my growth scan this week and having to start metformin for gestational diabetes so feeling a bit down in the dumps about that.
I miss carbs so much!
Have also admitted defeat with trying to potty train our first which feels like a bit of a set back. Not sure how long to give it before trying again or if it will be getting too close to my due date. I can't imagine trying to physically pick him up/rush him to the potty when I'm beyond 34 weeks, my bump is already big!

Molly4689 · 08/09/2024 14:29

Aww @SouthwestSis sorry to hear you're not feeling great. What have they said after your growth scan?

I have low folate which has been making me feel rubbish too. Have had the week off work and not sure I can face going back in tomorrow as just feel so awful most of the time!

Also unexpectedly started potty training my 2 year old, my plan was to wait until after baby and Christmas but he keeps asking to go on it. We haven't had a few days to go all in so I've just taken the approach of offering him the option when he appears to need it/at certain points of the day but not worrying if he goes in his nappy. I've stopped rushing him over and started to get him to walk to the potty and pull his pull up down himself (still needs a bit of help) but it's such an effort to get down on the floor with him! We're about a month in and each day he seems to be a bit better at it so hoping we may just get there without much 'training', although I am contemplating removing the nappies over a long weekend/half term in October but DP will have to be around to help!

OnNaturesCourse · 08/09/2024 16:18

Sorry to barge into the conversation here but I'm slightly concerned if this is normal for additional pregnancies / braxton hicks ...

I've been having braxton hicks for a few weeks and they've always been hardening/tightening of my bump from the top and in my ribs.

Today I woke up, DTD very gently and was fine... Until I got out of bed and got the worst sciatica pain I've experienced. It's continued all day, and progressed to my PGP flaring up. I was walking around the store earlier bent over the trolley as the PGP and sciatica was so bad. Then for the last 2 hours I've had braxton hicks but they are really low, only the bottom of my bump is going hard. It's not painful but feels a bit like a low grade cramp discomfort. My PGP/sciatica flares as soon as I stand.

I'm wondering if the PGP/sciatica flare up has just caused so much muscle cramp/discomfort that it's kicked the braxton hicks off lower down.

There is no rhythm to the braxton hicks, but they are very tight when they come.

I had very faint braxton hicks in my 2nd pregnancy and only towards the end so I don't really know how to handle them, on what is normal. (I also had them in my 1st but were so faint I didn't notice them, only the machine did)

Lunamoon23 · 08/09/2024 19:29

@OnNaturesCourse I'll be honest, if you're concerned I'd ring the midwife department and express your concerns. They may just want to check things over and it'll put your mind at ease, considering how much pain you're in and how concerned you are I'd say that's the best and safest option. It's probably nothing but best to get professional guidance. How far along are you?? X
