Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

I know there was a few of us in here having a ELCS as our chosen birth plan. Wondering if any of you have had your meeting with the consultant yet and how you got on.

I had mine at my 20 week scan, with a male consultant. They discovered I had a low lying placenta during my scan so he was talking to me about the possibility of needing it for medical reasons if it didn't move but also acknowledged my want for one and was great - explained the risks but not in a scare mongering way, gave no push back but said he'd put in for it at my next appt @ 32 weeks once they'd also checked my placenta as that could mean booking it earlier etc. xxxxx

Hello! My little bean is wriggling away when I’m sat down for 10-20 mins, especially after eating, and I can sometimes see my stomach flicker! V exciting.
My pregnancy pillow arrived yesterday and after one night I am completely in love - soooo comfy! I went for the more expensive bbhug me pregnancy/nursing pillow on all the rave reviews and I think it’s going to be fantastic! If you’re thinking about it, I massively recommend it.

What pillow did you go for?

I got one in my last pregnancy and hated it, I'd love to find a good one

GammaTheGecko · 18/08/2024 20:08

I'm super keen to hear if anyone has any preg pillow recs :) I had a look at top rated pillows from an Emma's Diary review and liked this one because my lower back hurts all the time but I'm worried it'll be a pain when I want to change which side I'm sleeping on, which leads me to this one and this one as my second contenders. I'd love to know if anyone thinks any of these are good or bad or has recs at a similar price point :)

I'd love to buy the bbhug me one so much and I'm so tempted but feel bad spending so much when I have so many other things to buy - I'm worried I'll regret not putting that money towards something for when the baby is here!

CatCaretaker · 18/08/2024 22:58

I got the Dreamgenii because I really felt like I would need the support behind me to prevent me rolling over - I hate side sleeping - and I was right, it does help a lot with that. I still find myself on my back a lot because I hate being on my side. I'm usually a stomach sleeper, and slept on my stomach throughout first trimester. I'm enjoying pregnancy but I can't wait to sleep on my stomach again!

Lunamoon23 · 24/08/2024 11:37

Ladies! Needing some help!

I keep getting horrendous acid reflux/GERD. Last night it woke me up from my sleep at 2am and I genuinely felt like I was chocking on it.. Couldn't breathe. Burnt my throat ...
it's happened to me a couple of times now but last nights was the worst. Usually I wake feeling like I'm going to vomit but once I sit up it passes after 10-15mins. I've been taking gaviscon and rennie, they aren't really helping.

This is my first pregnancy so first experience of this, and unsure what to do: do I talk to my midwife? Or do I contact my GP?

LilyJessie · 24/08/2024 16:48

@Lunamoon23
I've never had this, so I can't offer help.
I would contact both and see who gets back to you first!

RedRobyn2021 · 24/08/2024 20:08

@Lunamoon23 god I'm sorry that sounds horrible

I had acid reflux in my first pregnancy m, it was horrible but didn't experience the same issue with nights. I would definitely speak to your GP I'm sure they can give you something better than rennies

I've just started experiencing acid this evening for the first time and I'm only 23 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️ feels like everything happens sooner this time round

Lunamoon23 · 24/08/2024 20:50

@RedRobyn2021 I've had on and off indigestion for weeks, but this night time thing has really ramped up the last couple of weeks and it's horrid! But yeah may contact my GP on Tuesday (bank holiday Monday they're closed) as my next midwife appt isn't for two weeks yet and can't keep this up.
I'm 23 weeks also, in 24 weeks on Monday.. I've also got horrid back ache, got my pregnancy pillow Today, I kind of can't see how it's going to make a difference if I'm honest now seeing it and trying it. But let's see!

RedRobyn2021 · 25/08/2024 12:09

@Lunamoon23 good luck I hope you get a GP appointment quickly after the bank holiday 🤞

One of the things I thought a lot when I was pregnant last time, was how I never realised what hard work pregnancy is and how it has so many side effects for a lot of women

I wish I was one of those that loved being pregnant

MaybeBaby2024 · 25/08/2024 12:11

@Lunamoon23 i had horrible acid reflux in my first pregnancy. GP would only give me gaviscon but I bought Esomeprazole tablets and they helped massively but very expensive. Your GP might give you omeprazole on prescription if you ask, I’m sure mine would have if I had pressed it more.

Molly4689 · 26/08/2024 11:51

I haven't posted on here in a while! Hope everybody is well.

@Lunamoon23 GP for omeprazole! I had it in both pregnancies, it started up again a few weeks ago badly but after a couple of days taking it consistently it's stopped. I've been taking it at lunch time and it's worked well.

Molly4689 · 26/08/2024 11:55

@Lunamoon23 yes I was given a date for mine at about 20 weeks after being told they wouldn't give me one until the week before. He actually said to me 'there are some Doctors who can and some Doctors who can't give you a date and well I can...' so I think I just got lucky (plus having had one before I think i'll be on the morning list - afternoon last time - so it probably makes more sense for it to be booked in).

Not that it's why I chose an ELCS but I've been able to arrange child and dog care which has been helpful!!

Molly4689 · 26/08/2024 11:56

@GammaTheGecko BB Hug Me has been worth every penny! I got it in my last pregnancy and DP has slept with it at times in between. I got a bad hip quite early on so have used it for a while in this pregnancy but only really started needing it for my bump more recently.

northernsunshine · 26/08/2024 23:20

Hello mums to be! Also expecting a little one end of November (but can’t find a thread so am joining this one as my initial due date was December 1!) .. exciting.

Random question but how are is everyone planning or prepping for Christmas? I have a little boy who is 2 and a half so want to make Christmas special for him, any ideas?

OnNaturesCourse · 27/08/2024 10:33

Hey everyone

Tentatively joining you all. After losing my daughter at 16weeks pregnant last year this new pregnancy still feels like its happening in my head. I'm 23 weeks along now and due around Christmas day (great timing!)

I am wondering if anyone is struggling with fatigue yet? Some days I'm bouncing with energy (yesterday) and others I can barely get out of bed (today). My iron levels etc are all checking out OK so far. It's frustrating me as I have so much to do, and other kids to look after. I feel like, my youngest especially, isn't getting the Mum they know and deserve as I'm plonking them in front of the TV more and more.

As for Christmas, I'm in a panic if I'm honest. Money is tight anyway and my DH will be on government paternity pay which doesn't even cover our food bill. We also have all our children's birthday within a month of Christmas. Then there is all the Christmas parties, shows, assemblys etc which I already know I'm going to struggle to attend. Then there is the damn magic elf... Who is going to move that when I'm giving birth lol. Stupid thing but it's so important to my little ones. I think I'm going to have a list of things to done (and have the appropriate things laid out like clothes, elf props, santa letters etc) that any babysitters can just pick up and go with.

RedRobyn2021 · 27/08/2024 21:21

@OnNaturesCourse

I'm sorry about your loss Flowers

I've had fatigue all the way through through so far, I'm due on the 21st so have been a bit worried about Christmas I also have a 3yo daughter and it will be her birthday 6 weeks after Christmas.

We're worrying about money, I'm a SAHM and my partner doesn't earn a great deal tbh but I'm just telling myself it'll be ok. I don't know how old your child/children are but I found a fantastic gift for my daughter on Vinted yesterday, managed to save myself £60 on something I know she will love. So it's worth looking at second hand if money is tight

RedRobyn2021 · 27/08/2024 21:24

Is anyone else experiencing a LOT of kicking?

I'm really tired but didn't manage to sleep until 10 last night because DD was kicking me over and over

Side note my 3.5yo is acting out a lot atm and I really think it's because of the pregnancy, we're having a lot of meltdowns, waking in the night, hitting, deliberately doing things she knows she shouldn't (e.g. pulling the dogs tail or drawing on the house).

Feeling really drained, couldn't stop myself from crying this evening

OnNaturesCourse · 28/08/2024 08:41

Yes to Vinted. I've used that alot for birthdays and Christmas' before. Best saving was getting a brand new Tonie box in box with accessories for £50 Inc postage last year.

My eldest understands it will be a smaller Christmas this year as we can't send as much money to Santa as her Daddy will be off work helping with baby, and we have a holiday at the end of January. I'm hoping my youngest just won't notice at 4 years old.

Wow that is a bargain

Tbf I don't really remember any of the gifts I got as a kid at Christmas, but I still love it. I think it can be special without loads of pomp, especially for the kids

OnNaturesCourse · 28/08/2024 11:03

@RedRobyn2021 I agree but I do worry I've set the bar too high and my kids almost have a expectation.

Just had my midwife appointment and all is going well with this little one, kicking her away when she had the doppler on me lol

Lunamoon23 · 30/08/2024 12:49

Just stopping by - I've had a week off this week, for my birthday and from Sunday I've had a stinking cold - convinced it's Covid but haven't tested. So I've spent my whole week feeling absolutely rotten. I've also been getting quiet intense pains in my bump the last two days, all along the bottom. I'm sure it's ligament pain but it feels so tender to press and when I stand up it's quite uncomfortable. I'm back to work Monday so hoping the pain shifts and I start to feel a little more human... my car also failed it's MOT yesterday which was the cherry on the cake 😂

Also starting to get quiet anxious about the birth now (First time for me) and I'm having a ELCS. They think I'll be booked in around the 9th dec at 39 weeks.. so hopefully come Christmas Day I'm feeling a little more human. We're going to my grandparents for the day/evening, a yearly tradition. My family know we're cutting back on gifts, just doing one each as money will be tight and me and DH aren't buying for one another to save any stress.
For me aslong as I'm able to be with my family on the day feeling okay with our newborn that's all that matters to me this year, but completely understand how different it'd be if we had other little ones running round ontop of all of this. So you have my sympathies.

The only thing I can suggest is start buying and wrapping now.. get Father Christmas letters done now and stored away ready, make a list of elf on the shelf ideas so you don't have to think about it once little one is here and your partners can pick from the list and do with minimal effort and get the Christmas tree up earlier than normal. We're doing ours on December 1st, so it's up and ready before I go in. I'll also start buying Christmas food treats in November when they start bringing them out so I don't have to think about it in December.

SouthwestSis · 01/09/2024 10:42

In awe of you all thinking about Christmas already, I can barely think beyond October atm!

Has anyone's midwife mentioned getting the RSV vaccine yet? And the covid and flu ones? Quite a few to fit in before our due dates and I'd prefer to have mine spaced out so I don't have 2 sore arms at once and at least have one side that is semi-comfortable to sleep on!

I'm sorry you've been so poorly and over your birthday too. How are you feeling now?

We've had loads of expensive issues lately, broken fridge that needed replacing, some work needed on our car and then we needed to get our autumn/winter wood in. Is the MOT failure something straight forward to sort?

I've sorted my DD's main gift, it came yesterday, I thought the main part of it on Vinted and I just know she's going to love it. Spoke to my mother about not doing adult gifts this year so that there's less financial pressure. We don't have a huge family but previous years we have do a secret Santa type of thing too, so we're only buying one lovely gift per person.

I don't see my midwife until 28 weeks so not seen her since the announcement to do with RSV.

I didn't realise they still offered Covid jabs, I'll probably decline that one and the flu tbh.

Lunamoon23 · 01/09/2024 16:03

@RedRobyn2021 thankfully I'm feeling a lot better today thank you, turns out I had Covid. Coming out the other side of it now though just feeling very fatigued.

Car failed on a tyre, nothing major thankfully. But, the week previously I'd just paid for two new rear tyres, an oil change and service so was frustrating to have to fork out another £170 on-top of £300+ the week before. But it's done now, had an advisory for a brake pad which DH will do before the next MOT. It's his MOT this Friday and his car is older than mine so hoping it'll pass!

@SouthwestSis I've got a midwife appointment on Thursday, I'm sure she'll mention the RSV vaccine to me then. Happy to have it, will probably have the flu vaccine too but don't think I'll have the Covid one. I'm not upto date with them anyway, only ever had the first two so seems pointless.. I'm also guessing she's going to want to book me in for the glucose test which I'm not looking forward to. Will be a looooong day stuck in hospital but needs must.
