Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

@Wise0wl yes this is my first!

@GammaTheGecko this is also my first ! So my reasons are I'm petrified! I actually delayed having a baby for a couple years longer than I'd liked because of my fear of childbirth, I believe the medical term is tokophobia.
I've always had a deep rooted fear of hospitals (childhood trauma), I hate being in them, I hate needles, the thought of medical intervention puts the fear of life into me.. I will avoid a hospital at every possible chance. (Even when previously I probably should of gone in for something or other)
So for me, a vaginal childbirth and all the unknowns that come with it, and the possibility of it ending in an emergency c section would send me into shock. Whereas with a planned one, I'll know exactly what's happening, what day, what comes next and I've heard it's so much calmer. Of course I'm aware things could still happen during but I think going into it, mentally it'd be a lot better for me. X

@Lunamoon23 I decided to randomly check into this thread again and I found you!!! Omg twins, I'm also tokophobic and going for elective CS for my first baby due early December. I actually have my appointment with the consultant this Friday! Nervous🫠 Like you I put off having a baby because of toko, but the NICE guidelines reassured me that I'd be safe to get what I want. There's also the Cesarian by Choice Awareness Network on FB which has been really helpful. Ah I'm so glad to have found you.

Lunamoon23 · 02/07/2024 11:05

Ahhh!! Yess! It's so helpful to communicate with someone who feels and is going through the exact same! I'm due December 16th!!! You??
I've got my appointment with my consultant on July 29th the same day as my gender scan! You'll have to let me know how you get on! Go prepared with any questions you may have also! We've got this mama (she says through gritted teeth) hahaha!

If anyone is looking for an online course to learn more about birth, the Birth Ed course is really good. Supportive and informative for all types of birth.

They also have a free podcast, which I really enjoy too and they have an Instagram with free content as well.

Lunamoon23 · 02/07/2024 16:06

@ninetales also how are you feeling throughout your pregnancy anticipating the birth? I feel like it's very much all consuming for me xxx

Lunamoon23 · 02/07/2024 16:08

@KaliJones oh wow, there's quite a few of us on the thread having a ELCS, that's really nice to know, I'm glad I opened this topic up. How do you feel about it, did you want to have a VBAC? X

Listened to an interesting episode of the birth ed podcast today about recovery after a cesarean, I thought it might interest some of you

Hello all!!
Has anyone else been leaking a bit of colostrum...?
Also started to find positions uncomfortable to sleep in already! Can't imagine in a few weeks!! Haha!

MaybeBaby2024 · 07/07/2024 21:34

Hi jumping over from the January thread as my due date has been brought forward to 29th Dec.

Currently 15 weeks with baby no2 😊

DC1 arrived a little earlier than due date so may have this one before Christmas or on the day itself!

Not yet, but my Mum mentioned the other day that she was leaking by her second trimester and suggested keeping some breast pads in my bag just in case...! I think this is meant to bode very well, my friend sweated blood trying to harvest colostrum in her third tri!

Pixie90 · 08/07/2024 21:05

Hi all - any London based mums to be? I'm debating between St Mary's and UCLH for birth (c section). Do you have any experience / knowledge about both hospitals? I only know 3 people who delivered at UCLH (2 good deliveries and 2 horrific ones). Thanks!

GammaTheGecko · 08/07/2024 21:08

@LilyJessie I did for the first time this evening! Very unexpected

@Pixie90 Unfortunately not, I'm down in Bournemouth

Wise0wl · 08/07/2024 22:05

I’ve sent you a PM @Pixie90

LilyJessie · 08/07/2024 22:17

@Orelinde - Oh really! That's good news to hear ☺️

@GammaTheGecko - Eeeek! Surprising isn't it!

Also on the topic of boobs... I mean, I've never been blessed with pretty little boobs... but the size of my boobs now/ the stretch marks that have come with them (and under them...!!) Needless to say... Bio Oil has been deployed!

LilyJessie · 08/07/2024 22:18

@Pixie90 - I know that UCLH is a very good hospital with some of the top surgeons in the UK working there. From a previous pregnancy (and loss), we met a Fetal Medicine Consultant and were blown away with how amazing they all were. But, sadly, I haven't had any dealings with maternity so can't comment on that!

CatCaretaker · 14/07/2024 10:47

Hi guys, I'm 15 weeks (16 weeks tomorrow, due 30th December) and I haven't put on any weight to speak of yet. In fact, my weight has dropped again over the last two days. I have no nausea or food aversions anymore (they all cleared up after week 12) and I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, and regularly in between. I do still find that I'm always, always hungry.

Do I need to worry? I've attached an image of my weight over the last few weeks. I started out around 61kg before pregnancy. This morning I weighed 61.8kg. The max I have ever reached is 63.4kg on the 9th of July (5 days ago). I have no idea what's changed between then and now, I haven't skipped any meals, or vomited at all.

Has anyone else been tracking their weight?

Due December 2024
GammaTheGecko · 14/07/2024 12:57

I wouldn't worry too much about that @CatCaretaker, I'm in the same boat, 17 weeks and 5 days and actually a bit lighter than just before I got pregnant. In my case I think I am gaining fat as I should but losing a bit of the muscle I had before which makes the scale look the same - could that be the case for you too?

That said, if you're still worried then add it to the list to ask your midwife about at your next appt :)

CatCaretaker · 14/07/2024 14:51

@GammaTheGecko I definitely will, it's just so far away!

No, not losing muscle, if anything doing a bit more muscle building now than I was because started a pregnancy pilates class.

It's reassuring that it's nit just me! Thanks!

Lorelaigilless · 14/07/2024 20:13

@CatCaretaker hi I wouldn’t worry about it. Unless you’re high risk for low BMI (imagine you’re not at 60kg? And if you were you’d be getting extra support from your midwife/obstetrician) then I’d just stop tracking and worrying about it at all. Plenty of people don’t gain any weight until much later on once the baby, placenta, fluid etc. actually starts to be substantial.

I’m 17 weeks currently and still in all my pre pregnancy clothes including jeans, work trousers etc. but don’t track my weight so no idea if I’ve gained.

Relax and enjoy being pregnant!

CatCaretaker · 14/07/2024 20:45

Thanks @Lorelaigilless I'm trying but struggling at times. I appreciate your help, and @GammaTheGecko's.

Lunamoon23 · 16/07/2024 07:57

@ninetales just checking in to see how your appt with the consultant went??? Xxxx

AbbiL0u · 19/07/2024 10:15

Hello ladies!

I haven’t been on here much lately, and hope you’re all okay. I have my 20 week scan today and excited to see baby, but also so nervous! They are wriggling a lot now which I’m hoping is a positive sign that everything is as it should be!

Also a shameless Facebook group plug if anyone wants to join now we are nearing the half way point, to maybe be a little less anonymous than mumsnet 🥰

https://fb.me/g/p_QZosX1XQMc5yXyZF/6RYwl58C - feel free to PM me if the link doesn’t work! X

RedRobyn2021 · 19/07/2024 19:29

@AbbiL0u how did the scan go?? 😊

AbbiL0u · 19/07/2024 20:45

RedRobyn2021 · 19/07/2024 19:29

@AbbiL0u how did the scan go?? 😊

It went well thank you! I’m so relieved 🥰 I was convinced I saw boy bits, but I’m no longer 100% since googling potty shots! I had also thought it was very obvious but OH didn’t spot what I had! Have you had yours/is it coming up soon? 😘

Lunamoon23 · 20/07/2024 14:56

@AbbiL0u are you not finding out the sex?
Mine is a week on Monday! Super excited! We're finding out the gender, it's our first and I'm itching to be able to go out and buy stuff haha!

Also ladies, anyone that's had the whooping cough vaccine before? Did you experience any side effects? I know sometimes vaccines can make you feel unwell. X

littlepanda88 · 20/07/2024 19:39

@Lunamoon23 hi there! I'm around 19 weeks pregnant and had my whooping cough vaccine yesterday actually! So far I feel fine, just had a bit of a sore arm around the injection area, more tenderness. Aside from that, nothing else out of the ordinary! It's not a "live" vaccine so shouldn't get things like a fever etc.

I'm sure you're excited about your 20 week scan! Mine is a week on Tuesday - these past few weeks have been flying I feel! :)
