False positive on Morrisons pregnancy test?

danniicee · 11/03/2024 11:51

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has gotten a false positive from a Morrison pregnancy test. I tested in the evening and straight away got my two lines. So I tested again about 2 hours later with a clear blue digital and got the not pregnant sign. I have pcos so difficult to work out the best day for testing.

Just really wondering if anyone else has had the same? I'm going to wait a few days and test again.

That is one hell of an evaporation line. I think it may be possible the ClearBlue was defective. Can you get an early CB digital with weeks?

Cas112 · 11/03/2024 12:04

Its highly unlikely to be a false positive.. They are incredibly rare as in order to get the line it means there is hcg there.

I'd do another test

excitedmama2be · 11/03/2024 12:28

False positives can be cause if you’re on any anti anxiety meds , fertility meds , wt loss meds which has synthetic hcg

so if you’re not on any of them , stick to testing in the morning

LittleSparklyStar · 11/03/2024 12:30

You need to be more pregnant to get a positive with a digital clear blue. The Morrisons tests are more sensitive I think so likely a positive!

Ah ok, do you think this looks negative then?

Thank you, I'll test again in the morning and update with the results 😬

Hi OP,

According to the website, Morrisons pregnancy test has a sensitivity level of 25ml/U, and Clear Blue digital is the same. If it is the Clear Blue early detection it is more sensitive at 10ml/U (so lower levels of pregnancy hormones detected).

Anyway, it might be as simple as the urine being more concentrated in the first test compared to the second test, and so more likely to get a positive reading. Best to test first thing in the morning, when the hormone levels are highest.

If you are asking for opinions, I think the faint line has a good thickness to it, and so I wouldn’t think it was evaporation. If you read this at the right time (3/5 min) then I think it might be positive. Best to test tomorrow.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply and info on both tests 😊

Yeah the line appeared literally straight away which makes me think it is positive. I probably shouldn't have tried the digital so late at night, i was too impatient to wait 🙈.

I have another test to try first thing in the morning
🤞

Just a wee update, I've taken 2 tests today and both have come back negative, so the Morrisons test must have been faulty.

Thank you for everyone's advice 😊

Hi all,

Yesterday I had an immediate positive on Morrisons own brand pregnancy test (first photo). A few hours later I did another and it was negative.

This morning first urine, another faint positive (second photograph) but Clearblue digital saying not pregnant.

unsure what to think!

Literally just had the same on a pink Asda dye one. I’m on the pill and normally bleed but haven’t for last few months so thought I’d better test. Did it in the morning and then had one hell of an evap line it looked like a positive. Did the 2nd one later that day was a bit more faint. Then got the clear blue digital and both negative

Welshcake15 · 25/05/2024 06:58

What sensitivity is the Morrisons test? Clearblue digital are 25 miu/ml, but you can get early detection tests that are 10 miu/ml and therefore more sensitive. It would be possible in a new pregnancy to test positive on an early detection 10miu/ml test and negative on a 25 miu/ml test.

I found that the Boots own brand early detection tests were very reliable.

I am also still on the pill!! Both of these lines have been instant, I wouldn’t thought an evaporation line would come over time?

ahhhh I have no idea I’ll try again tomorrow! X

Hi,

Morrisons is also 25, thank you I will pop to boots and try again tomorrow x

autumn1610 · 25/05/2024 11:29

@Annon321 i would have definitely shown pregnant if i was due to the amount of time. But yeah I jumped in shower and got out and was like wtf it was like a super long shower so read well within the time. I haven’t seen an Evap line before but looked very similar but maybe a bit more blurry on the edges.

DreamyPoet · 28/05/2024 15:27

Did you end up being pregnant. I did two Morrisons tests Friday and Saturday last week. Tested today with a clear blue and it was negative.

Hi,

after the 2 positives I started spotting but came off my pill as this is what is advised if you test positive- but now I am still bleeding and testing negative.

very upsetting the false positives!

katie2909 · 28/05/2024 19:26

I'm hoping one of you can help me as I can see you've had similar experiences... I've just got a positive on a morrisons own test but I'm on the pill and take it religiously, never had any issues and no missed pills. I'm absolutely petrified and wondering whether it's a true positive or false? Did you guys end up being pregnant?

Hi Katie,

I am not pregnant, the 2 positives must’ve been false although from different packets!! Very upsetting!

Thank you for your reply. Feeling very lost right now. I can’t believe how many people I’ve read about getting false positives of these tests, they shouldn’t be sold. I’m yet to come on my period so it could just be too early but I’m not hopeful

katie2909 · 29/05/2024 21:57

Mine turned out to be a false positive too :(

katie2909 · 29/05/2024 21:58

@DreamyPoet I had the same thing, my positive morrisons test turned out to be wrong as I used a clearblue early detection today and it was stark white negative
